- I snagged the Viltrox DC-550 for $181 and was shocked to find it HAS touchscreen, even though the website said otherwise! For the price, this monitor is a very good one. However, there's ONE big issue...
When I shoot in 4K 50FPS, there's frustrating lag when I pan my camera. It's really noticeable and gets annoying! I'm not sure if this is a setting issue with my Sony A7IV camera, or if Viltrox can patch it.
If you're looking for a budget external monitor, hopefully, this honest review helps you decide.

I bought a Viltrox DC-550 Pro and the battery that came in lasts like 10min... When charged by USB-C always stays with one ChargeDot and never leaves that dot, when USB-C charge in another outlet stays in the first dot like 5min and than appears fully charge. When charge in a charger for NP-F batteries take quite sometime to charge but never gets fully charged despite saying is fully charge...
Does this happened to any of you with this batteries?

The native signal of this monitor is 25hz, 30 and 60hz. When I use it on 24fps im facing with the same issue. On 50fps it’s is very usable but also lag a little. It should be solved on an update but I tried everything to update my unit but always fail. I need to say that I only found an update on Reddit, nothing on Viltrox site. I’m returning the monitor with a lot of shame. The monitor offers a lot of features but the support from viltrox is really bad.
Your settings can not go with the monitor . It can only output to 4k30fps in full resolution. 4k50 or 4k60 will be lagging . Or much better set monitor to 1080p.
Monitor from my understanding can only read up to 4k30fps. It will display it at 1080p but could be why it seems to lag.
Im also experiencing the lag when I film in 60fps, very noticeable when I pan. Anyone found the solution? I like the monitor and would be a shame having to return it.

I got the full screen output on the Viltrox DC-550 by setting the HDMI Info Display to OFF in the menu on the Sony A1

I use HDMI resolution 1080p setting in my Canon R8 and have no lags.

@@clichebabyy this monitor can´t display 4k, this just recive a signal in 4k, but isn't capable of showing on 4k, thats normal, is a pretty affordable monitor.
I can't create a border or change the color. How do you view preview on the screen? Do I need to add another usb/hdmi out? It's not a very friendly user
Do you experience this lag with any moving shots at all such as tracking behind a subjct or just left to right? I'm wanting to purchase this and I never pan at all so it shouldn't bother me but I do sometimes follow a subject moving forward or backwards. I guess I could try it out and send it back if it's no good for me

Thanks for the tip, But I tried different cables and I still have this lag problem. It can also be a Sony Issue... Hopefully they can fix it.

You have the 550 PRO. The 550 does not have a touchscreen.

I have since seen video reviews of the 550 LITE with a working touchscreen, so it's all crazy.

Mine dc 550 and it has touchscreen haha. Dc 550 lite is the one that doesnt have a touchscreen capabity.
I actually saw a review of the LITE and it also had the touchscreen!
