this proves how far and complex iPhones are. we get slammed by android users "its an iPhone. their basic, can't do other tasks." but, you can literally do so much from the power of shortcuts to third party apps using interactive widgets. great video man!

Just left pixel after 7 years and switched to an iphone.
This phone is good. But it's definitely the "dumbest" smart phone. I will likely switch back to a pixel 9 this winter.
The iphone is super super super premium though. And after I forgot about all the things that make android just a flat out better and more capable operating system. This phone is starting to grow on me.
The build quality is just unmatched.
Shortcuts is a bandaid. The fact that I can't create a direct shortcut to a spreadsheet and put it on my home screen without executing a script is an example of shortcuts being a bandaid to overcome the OS shortcomings.
I think that iOS 18 needs a complete redesign. I think apple absolutely nailed the hardware on this phone and the titanium color way was instantly iconic imo
@@NYYstateofmindI have similar sentiments. I own a Pixel 6 Pro but have been using an iPhone 15 Pro for work. Great phone but there’s still many things I prefer on Android.
@@NYYstateofmind Coming to iPhone from using Samsung for 10+ years, I feel iPhone is a better experience than Galaxy at least because of all the bloat Samsung packs in their phones. And I agree about the iPhone build quality; it feels nice just holding this device in a way I never felt from flagship Samsung phones.
Agreed, just fully switched to apple and while many features from android still aren’t on the iPhone, many features on the iPhone aren’t on android which makes me think apple is the better choice for me in my opinion. Even the health app is so much more helpful.

Did you switch from Pocketcasts to Apple Podcasts? Would love to see a video about that and pros and cons of both. Longtime Pocketcasts user here. Did Apple add some killer feature that made you switch?
I did switch...I need to make a video about that! Overall the design since iOS 17 won me over, and figuring out how to finally manage my "unlisted queue" (which I use the Library > Latest Episodes and carefully mark as played / unplayed") helped me make the switch. Thank you! Unfortunately the mute actions are only available on 15 Pro models. I think this is because of the switch to the action button, but stinks

Have a quick question for you.... On your Apple home plugs /sockets with all of your devices connected to, do you find out that if your home wifi looses power that the Apple Home Smart plugs will not reconnect ? Just wondering?

I used your vidoes to set up parental controls yesterday. Today we are able to facetime the child but can't text or call him. What should I look at to try and correct this? I have messages always allowed for us.

I need to know if it’s possible to create a shortcut that allows you text a single person different “love” messages through out the week only in the morning.
If you create a list of 7-14 different options in a list, technically you could automate it

How do you get different shortcuts in each widget? When I add multiple shortcut widgets, I always get the same 4 shortcuts in each one.
I create a Shortcuts folder for each widget I plan to use. Then I chose the specific folder per widget.
Hi, I was wondering how to accomplish the "leave screen on" command. I have often tried that on the iPhone 11 and iPhone 14, unfortunately without success. There is such a command in the shortcut app, but it does not work and always gives a pop-up with “not compatible with iPhone”.
The action in Shortcuts is referring to the always on display, which only works on 14 Pro and 15 Pro. But what I did here is a URL scheme shortcut that opens the auto lock settings, which I have to manually set to never.

It's the default Weather widget! Otherwise the thumbnail of the video is just a Lock Screen with text I overlayed after the fact

Feel shamed about how chaotic my iPhone is organized.
No shame! But you can always claim Home Screen bankruptcy and start over! Just create a new Home Screen with one icon, then you can delete all the others and have a blank slate.
I’m always a little disappointed when nobody uses the Siri App Suggestions widget on their Home Screen, especially on iPad where that widget can replace 2 apps with 8 apps.
I’ve tried it periodically, but I wish you could remove the background color and I actually find the App Library suggests what I want with decent accuracy.
@@beardfm Agreed on the background, it’s weird how it’s present in the Today View and on the iPad Home Screen but not on the iOS Home Screen. I also use a single Home Screen for quick access to the App Library.
The only manually-placed apps on either of my devices is in the Dock, everything else is suggested with pretty good accuracy.
I’m having trouble with my reminders widget… It has been blank since the IOS 17 update. Is anybody else having the same issue? If so, I would appreciate any suggestions.
On occasion I’ve had the same happen. I removed the widget then added it back, which resolved the issue for me. Good luck!

The Reminder widget can pull from various lists. So go into edit mode, then tap the widget and see if there's an option to choose another Reminders list.
Thank you for your response sir… I followed your advice and I first was able to give this a try on my iPad Pro which allowed me to see exactly what you were describing, but then when I did the same thing on my iPhone, the upper right hand corner of the widget did not allow me to tap & see if I was in my daily reminder list. I tried deleting and re-installing every form the reminder widget allowed for but it still remains blank 😞 @@beardfm
