Woodturning - Rooty Firewood to Beautiful Vase
Vložit

- In this woodturning video I will transform a firewood tree root into and beautiful looking hybrid vase. This fully air-dried root has some much character but certainly needed an artistic eye to rescue from fire and give another chance to live longer. With the help of some epoxy resin I was able to turn this project around and make something very modern and decorative piece.

Thank you so much 😀
Equally, creating something which is unique.
No one anywhere on the planet has a vase with identical markings to this vase.
How much are they btw?
They are amazing 🤩
I’d like to put one of my turds on that lathe
Невероятная красота !
Хочется бесконечно рассматривать эти изгибы и переплетения ...
Настоящий мастер - отсек все лишнее, и получилось чудо !
Absolutely beautiful. I didn't even know this was a thing. I'm always blown away by how creative people can be.
Thank you so much 😀
The colours give me ancient Greek pottery vibes. Amazing work.
Thank you so much 😀
My late father would have loved this. He was a woodturner in large part of his life. Still have his workbench, tools and many of things he made in wood. Rest in peace father. Hopefully you have many hours in Heaven doing what you loved. Woodturning.
BRO!! The dude is a friggin MASTER!! Made a vase out of a root ball! Seriously!! Like WOW!! 👍 👍 👍
@gooHero I don’t get your post. Meaningless? The guy just showed us you can make a vase from one of the most difficult and often discarded pieces of a tree. In a world that is going to the crapper due to greedy and ignorant people tearing down trees and eating up our natural reassures, for a guy to be able to make a container out of something they aren’t normally made of, deserves praise.
Worth hundreds, because it's unique, handmade. Great work. I can imagine them as a pair of artsy lamps in my living room
Thank you so much 😀
Great use of a gnarly rooted stump. Love the “worthless to worth it” transition! Awesome stuff!
немного дерева + немного эпоксидной смолы + David's Woodturning = шедевр
No goofy music or words, just beautiful craftsmanship
I would prefer words. Telling us what you are doing.
I would love a coffee mug or cup like that!
It's been a long time, but I remember working on the lathe making tables, vases, foot stools, etc., all that cutting, gluing, sanding, etc. Very rewarding work. You do great work. Very nice.
Thank you so much 😀
I’ve never seen anything like this….
It’s beautiful, unique and timeless.
Love it.
What I love most of all is that you take a discarded piece of wood, not really fit for anything except burning, and turn it into an heirloom quality piece which will handed down through the generations. Hundreds of years from now people will still be enjoying your craftmanship.
I love seeing someone simp for firewood. happy comment haha
Its wasnt only fit for otherwise he wouldnt be able to make a vase now would he?
The one constant on the internet is that every comment section is full of internet trolls who find themselves clever and amusing.
@@hanzoyamazaki2551 that was really nice of you to point that out.
Someone expressing his appreciation just got knocked down to a Mr Obvious quote.
I'll give this one 12/10 troll points 🥰.. [not fit for anything] = quality piece
Finally someone doing stuff with wood and epoxy. That's so creative
The algorithm will not stop recommending me these epoxy videos. Thought this was gonna be about woodturning and then halfway - oh, of course, gotta fill this up with epoxy 🤦
sarcasm?
@@ZapOKill Whaaat? Sarcasm? No way man.
My dad used to have a lathe. My brother got into woodworking with it.
His wife would suggest he make her a particular item (a simple, Ford-type item) and he'd present her with a Cadillac! A true artist!! 😊
I really enjoy watching these!
I'm glad that this hidden gem did not wind up in the fireplace...stunning , great work...both the vase and the video.
Восхитительно! Вы превращаете неказистый корешок в настоящий шедевр! 😳 Моё почтение художнику! 🙏
And that was a pretty homely root! Amazing piece.

You sir, must lay in bed dreaming about your work. The love and dedication you put into your creations is obvious for everyone to see. Beautiful, thank you for posting.
I was totally fascinated by your work…so lovely..so talented. Amazing outcome. Gorgeous
Thank you so much!
You're absolutely right......Good evening how are you doing over there hope you're having a wonderful day, it's a lovely day that the lord has made.
That circular jig is a work of art, what a genius device. I’ve blown out many pieces of burl before, but with the resins & a jig like that, I might have better luck. That’s a beautiful process, & an even more impressive finish.
This gives me a greater appreciation for home made wood crafts !…the time, the patience
Happy 😅😊e
It’s surprising how relaxing these videos are, love seeing the finished pieces.
Thank you 😀
I agree. I love watching a string of wood turning videos right before bed. 😁
This is what I appreciate about the Internet; I'm a minimalist, don't like to own lots of "stuff," but I do enjoy looking at things. Beautiful items, such as this wonderfully done vase, are a real joy---and seeing it doesn't take up one atom of space in my home, and nobody can destroy it (hate going to museums because of so many undisciplined cretins visiting them anymore). I can come back to this video as many times as I want, and then move on to the next video of beautiful things.
That is excellent work, sir, simply exquisite!
Thank you so much 🙂
Мужик у тебя золотые руки!!! И чувство прекрасного у тебя тоже есть!
Beautiful work. No wonder some fine made things are so expensive. That was not only labor intensive but time consuming as well. Great job.

Beautiful. I love wood turning. Haven’t done it in years but some years ago me and my dad had a small wood shop and we experimented a bit with some turning, he would have loved this and I’m sure trying to do something similar if he were still here. One day, God willing, I will set up another shop and give this a try. Thank you for bringing back so many wonderful memories with my dad.

I have to say that I normally don't like wood with resin, but you picked very organic colors for this, so it doesn't look out of place (the resin, that is). I think this vase is quite gorgeous.
Thank you so much!

I wondered how you were going to turn that gnarly piece of wood into a vase. Well done. I use to be a lathe operator so I appreciate the skill involved. It was my favorite job because of the problem solving involved. A wood lathe would be a fantastic hobby for my retirement years but apartment building owners tend to frown on excessive use of shop equiptment. (Don't ask me how I know) lol

Honestly, i think these root/resin pieces are my favorites. They're so interesting to look at and soooo beautiful.
Even though the concept is different, this puts me in mind of my rock tumbler. My rocks start off rough and dull, but afterwards they come out smooth and shiny!
TBH.. i have no clue how i got here. But David.. this vase looks freaking stunning!
