Sorry about the sound quality in this video!
What do you mean?
Its perfect for me 👍
Yeah I didn't notice any issues. This trailer has me not knowing what to expect and hearing how much Coppola has thrown into it is really intriguing. Thanks again for another great observation. Also hope you are well bro
I don’t know why but I get an old school feeling from this. Like this is a movie that actually has a target audience and doesn’t try to please everyone. Basically, it feels like art, not a corporate product.
No question that the genuine cinematic directorial genius of the last 58 years will shine once again! Bravo Mr. Coppola...BRAVO!"
I've always maintained that art and commerce should never be used in the same sentence. Huge kudos for master Coppola to take on this project without the typical Hollywood commercial mindset...... I will definitely be in line for a ticket
Me too. Can't wait.
Good or bad, My son and I will definitely go see it in IMAX upon its release, that's for sure.
Me too.
A film on an IMAX Screen, is not an IMAX Film ? !
Based on the teaser trailer the film is visually beautiful but that doesn't mean one thing or another about the actual story. But because movies have been poorly done for the most part in recent years and it is Coppola will give this a chance.
Thanks as ever CineRanter!
Big anticipation. We will see…
Yes, pretty darn excited to see this - come whatever! Feels like very very few risks for art being made these days, so whatever sins Coppola may create here, it will undeniably be artful ones. Thanks for this review.
2:50 Perhaps it's a distinction without a difference, but the building Adam Driver teeters on isn't just any building: it's the "Chrysler" Building in NYC
This movie is going to be AWESOME-I can hardly handle my excitement!
I am British! Have you ever seen James Bond excited? No, you have not! Keep your cool. I also want to see this movie but I am determined to control my emotions!
@@Richard-hv5hh O...trying...failing...
@@Richard-hv5hh Hey, wait-so Brits are trained from birth to be super-spies?Or are you saying Brits are emotionless husks who can't understand excitement for AWESOME movies? 😗🙃😉 Also-I have never seen James Bond sit to pee even though it is called a seat. Sometimes even throne! The training is off point.
BTW if you've ever seen later Fellini like "Satyricon," leboeuf's makeup is really not that incomprehensible
Hey! Adam Driver!! Why the long face?
Excited!
If he stood on the corner with a video camera just to capture traffic, I would pay to see it.
You are 100% correct about the artist vs the soulless suits in the studios. Coppola proved to everyone that true artists are unstoppable!
Can’t wait !
Can't wait!
Some city scenes/shoots reminds me of the anime movie Metropolis from 2001...and thats is not a bad thing for me.
With Zoetrope Coppola was well known for overinflated experimental budgets like One from the heart. I guess he could have made this for 100 k with AI video tools by 2025…
By 2035 you could do it on your phone 👍
Aah - the irrepressible Mr Coppola. THIS I have to see!
The 2024 Sci Fi "Fountainhead."
Mixed with a "Clockwork Orange" vibe?!
See, "The Schock of the New'......
The video series all Architecture schools show their first year students.
If your used to and therefore going into this expecting the run of the mill Hollywood experience, prepared to be disappointed. This Cinematic Adventure is is a flex on ALL so called film wizards and gurus of late who helmed flop after forgettable flop for the past 20 years or so. I can not wait for this.
I love everything this movie is about. Even if it isn't great I'm sure it'll be interesting and different.
" never get off the project"
Absolutely gdamn right.
Megalopolis Let's Go!
I'll definitely see this in the theater.
Word from those who have seen advance screenings (people in the business) is that it's a fascinating mess of a film.
One of my all-time favorite messy films in "Southland Tales" (the Cannes Cut). It's a jumbled, confused movie with some truly cringy scenes, but there are so many wonderful ideas and moments that I love it despite its many problems. I suspect this movie will be a lot like that, only with better acting.
Looks beautiful. Tall, dark, and mysterious. I like that.
There is no way Adam Drivers long face (like a melting Salvador Dali clock) is the last one Coppola will ever film.
I think we're in for an interesting disaster
Some of my favorite Coppola films were the little ones, "One From the Heart" or "The Black Stallion". I always thought these were more worthy than some of the famous efforts.
@paulmoore7064 I think that Carroll Ballard might take issue with you calling THE BLACK STALLION a Coppola film, since he in fact directed it.
@@michaelhall2709 You're right. I stand corrected. Coppola produced it. At least he WAS involved. Great film anyway.
@@paulmoore7064 Indeed it was. As was NEVER CRY WOLF, another film Ballard directed just a few years later.
@@michaelhall2709 I really liked that one too.
When does the official trail get shown in this official trailer video?
Greco-Roman wrestling? I'm in!!
Detroit's own... He's one of the best directors ever.
It looks goddam amazing and it's going to at least break even
If this movie premieres at cane this Friday, May 17th, then could we see this movie everywhere else by June or July.
This feels like something that would have come out in 2008 lol.
Dude! You skipped two of my favorites -- James Remar and D. B. Sweeney. If I go, it'll be to see these guys.
How do you know that this is his final movie?
Of Course. You judge an artist by the volume of their work. Coppola is one of the greats. Anything he does is worthy of the price of a ticket and your time.
Lol.
Volume?
No. Its quality that counts. Volume and quality combined, make a genius.
Looks like the fullfilling of the dream of the aging Coppola to create today's Metropolis (Fritz Lang's silent movie). But if it doesn't tell us more about the big puppeteers (Rome?) than the old movie, it is a big annoyance and failure.
Looks amazing to me, and I adore Adam Driver
Wild guess that old Soviet satellite nukes the city
I t will still be better and remembered for longer than the usual shit pumped out by Hollywood today.
No one goes in head first risking all their fortune?!!.... uh hello? .. Keubrick.
'...evil man who becomes good and a good man who becomes evil.'
I'd go see it tru dat
This is likely is last movie, it will be massive because of this and probably bring in many accolades
Seems the premise is a bit of a risk with $100 m of your own wedge on it
I'm not sure if this is a win for art because it is saying that you have to be filthy rich to be able to go against the Hollywood norm.
This is gonna bomb at the box office regardless how good it is...... You have to put something for the average punter who is paying their money to go n see it & the Trailer just looks so feckin pertinacious.? Thats whats maddening about it.....
I don’t think Coppola really cares he is making it for art and passion not to please the average movie goer
Awww what s wrong hater...social media junkie is what yer life isnow?
Peter Bradshaw from The Guardian wrote "Megalopolis is megabloated and megaboring". It's a flop already.
This film could absolutely be garbage. But I can't wait to find out.
Talia Shire and Jason Schwarzman?!! How’d Coppola manage to sign them two.
This will be the greatest train wreck ever put to screen...
Nothing compared to you
Wait, how do know it will be trainwreck? I can think of other filmmakers who create more trainwreck's than Coppola.
You know nothing
@@Jackdelroy1 you right, Im solely speaking my opinion just like you correct?
@@marccharbonneau1967wow how ironic thats what your mom just said to me the other day! #trippy
All it took was $100M of his own money
Not gonna lie. I feel a train wreck is coming
Not gonna lie nobody cares about comment thread know nothings or their self loathing
I do too, like Chinese Democracy. But at least it’s FINISHED.
Me too
@@marccharbonneau1967 i saw you answering others comments, dude relax is just a movie. Coppola isn't your relative to go so salty
i knew nothing about this unverise or story, saw this video poped up clicked it searched up the trailer went to watch the traile,r then came backto this video & you know what, I am not going to watch this video or anything about this movie other than that 1 trailer & gonna go in 100% blind
One of the last masters of cinema is back!
I get the distinct whiff of style over substance off this.
I just hope there's a girl boss!!!
Based 80% on who’s in it; it’s going to be a stinker ( ! ! ! )
Unfortunately Coppola made the same mistake Gilliam made: Hiring Adam Driver.
LOVE Adam Driver!
Something inside me says this will be not good
As cinéranter said
This is a film that transcends good or bad
Something inside me says it won't make a difference just adds to yer negative view about yourself
The movie has a target specific audience, that's why i will watch it, doesnt fit or wants to fit into any political or timely nowadays notion.
You idiots don't get it. Francis wanted to tell the Truth. Few rich people want that known. Had to fund it himself. The movie seems crazy. That's the point. It's a reflection of our current reality
As a NYC native I seriously do not want to watch my city destroyed on screen for the millionth time.. FOH with this psy-op
In the second reel The London Eye gets it , don’t worry
Purely out of respect for Coppola's work and a hatred of the new Hollywood, I'm going to pay to see this film and buy tickets for my family too. Hopefully other true film fans will have the same idea and it will allow Coppola to recoup his 200 mil and stick one in the eye of woke Hollyweird who turned their back on him.
What about the part where he goes full Hollywood and started sexual assaulting the extras?😂 sorry I'm stealing this movie
I guarantee you’ll find something “woke” in there to complain about anyway I’m sure, you lot always do
Buddy, you were on the right track until you embarrassed yourself by invoking the term "woke."
New Hollwood 😂
Hollywood has always been shit. For many reasons.
Funny how what upsets you is your own conditioning. Not crummy Hollywood in gen.
@@tph2010oh the trigger words that get ye triggered.. lol 😅
Can't be worse than many saints of newark whatever happened there..
😂😂
We will never see this movie.
Sorry for russia :(
I hope its good cause he has so many boring movies
Crying Neo.
Love Coppola, but he made the tragic mistake of casting Adam Driver as the lead. Adam Driver is the worst leading actor in the past decade. Poor old man is going to loose his shirt because of this terrible choice.
Adam driver is a fantastic actor
John Voight is a Hollywood cast-away due to his support for common sense gov't (not Democrat), so for Coppola to use him in a film - the movie is striving to bring in the best talent and not recent Hollywood political messaging. This is a must see, even if it is boring.
Voight supports fascism and the end of democracy. He does not believe in "common sense government". You have drank the MAGA cool-aid.
This is like a metaphor. Congratulating him on avoiding politics in his choices while clearly demonstrating how much it affects your own.
@@IDontBuyIt50 Correct
I smell flop
And a big one!
Coppola is great but adam driver is horrible. In star wars even the other characters made fun of him. I expected him at any moment to make robot sounds like JP in grandma's boy. The last duel flopped because of driver and I hate say that this movie will too. They need to stop casting this goof. Why didn't they just call it Megapolis?
It looks absolutely SHITE!!! No wonder he had to finance it himself, terrible cast too.
Lol its got a very good cast
Why is the cast bad ?
We will remember to forget that.
Looks brilliantly made however there are too many stars in it and is this a satire comparing ancient Rome to today or something else?
I’ve been waiting for this movie for so long, but it just looks bad. It looks almost like a B movie. And with a god-awfully bad cast. No one is going to see a movie because Adam Driver, Shia Lebeouf, Giancarlo Esposito or Dustin Hoffman star in it. Those are all either past their prime, Hoffman, or just bad actors like the rest. Truly a shame he chose these actors. The movie will definitely flop.
Ok you’re argument about the cast is really bad because well the selling point is primarily Coppola himself.
Seriously Adam driver ? The guy is one of the biggest stars in Hollywood why are you saying that ?
Giancarlo Esposito Has developed a devoted fan base that is a great actor
How can you call him bad ?
How is that bad casting .
Dustin Hoffman ??? The guy is an acting legend .
@@rupertsmith5815 Hoffman was good, but he’s been garbage lately. Esposito is literally the same character in every movie and series. He’s unable to act as anything else. And his acting can be described simply as being a teacher and explaining everything awkwardly. Adam Driver? Seriously? Everything he’s done has been meh at best. He was horribly miscast in Star Wars. And his other roles have been mediocre. And Coppola? Look at his “recent” works and you’ll see where he’s at. People need to be more selective in their entertainment choices. Wasting your money on something because of its “star power” is exactly what you shouldn’t be doing. Lately, the bigger the star, the worse the movie/show. It’s how they make up for bad scripts and stories. How many times will you be burned before you learn?
@@davedice4688 No he still gives great performances
You have officially lost all credibility
Watch do the right thing and then you will see how wrong you are about it Esposito
No in fact he was great as Kylo easily the best part of the trilogy
He was really good in Logan’s lucky, Marriage story, Blackklansman etc
Again Coppola is making this for art reasons
I never do that I in fact I judge the creators
And all the actors
And you ignored the rest of the cast why ?
@@davedice4688 I really really don’t give a shit about Coppola recent works I am just happy this film even exists
@@rupertsmith5815 the fact that you think I have “lost all credibility” because of my opinion tells me all I need to know about your worth. Sorry, but your need for self-importance is laughable and sad. Maybe when you finally discover that your hubris is pathetic and wrong, maybe then we’ll continue the conversation. Until then, I’ll just put you on mute. Deal?
Won’t break $50M at the box office. Moviegoers don’t like mumbo jumbo garbage like this and the only people who go to movies now are MCU fans.
There’s a reason no one wanted to produce this.
There goes the kid’s inheritance.
What does Mumbo Jumbo garbage mean ?
We'll remember to forget that
He's JUST a comment thread know nothing who needs his fix
