WW1: machine guns counter any movement of large infantry forces -> trench war WW2: no effective counter against motorized armored forces -> maneuver warfare Ukraine: aerial reconnaissance combined with precision artillery and ATGMs counter any movement of large motorized forces -> trench war
You can see it wasn't the powerful Panzer Divisionen which won the Battle of France. Germany had about 29 StuGs and approx 600 Pz III and IV the rest up to 2'400 were Pz I + II and some 38 t... the keyfactor was communication...
Wonderful film. Will also say I have never seen an army spread so many things on a slice of bread as the Germans - Think back to all of the WWII films showing this 3:46.
one must truly understand the thought of these men at the time , one of fear obvious but more over the those who undertook this exact task 20 years prior where their parents , they fought in these fields of france for 4 long years , you can imagine these men expected to be in the same predicament
The closeup of the early StuG III at 2:19 strikes me as strange, they're such a popular game play vehicle but always with the long barrel high velocity guns. If you want to see the low pressure 75mm you gotta get very particular with Google Images.
Well i would'nt want to supporting Infantry with that many tanks working around oneself 🤔 no doubt would have been quite a few 'friendly squashings' sadly
I think people get careless, but I'm sure people get caught between enemy fire and friendly equipment and one or the other gets them. I met a guy years ago who was in the service and either knew a guy, or new of a guy, who lost all his toes because he stood next to a track vehicle as it drove by. Story goes it bent his steel toe down and cut all his toes off.
Remarkable footage that really show the scale of combat
Such an awesome difference compared to the static trenches of WWI that people in this time still remembered.

Great footage- thanks for posting this!
Excellent rare content
0:50 what happened here. Artillery fire hitting the tanks and troop positions?
Must have been a shell that came in at a low arc and its explosive cone caused a ripple effect on the dust/pollen in its arc of fire.

Although this is propaganda/training footage, it shows units of Armour, infantry, artillery, and mobile artillery (Stug) working closely together.
This isn't training. Its actual footage taken during the invasion of France.
