Phoenix Fire crews responded to reports of a house fire in a mountain side neighborhood North of 36th Street and Lincoln Drive around 4:40 PM Saturday afternoon.

Upon arrival crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from a single story house.

Multiple nearby residents informed fire crews of a large explosion seconds before the flames erupted.

Firefighters immediately balanced the assignment to a working 1st alarm fire with hazardous materials.

Over 100 firefighters from the cities of Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, and Glendale responded to assist.

According to FD, the explosion and fire has completely leveled the building and damaged multiple nearby homes.

Investigators have confirmed that the house does not have natural gas service, however a large propane tank was located on the property.

Crews are working to determine what caused the explosion at this time.
