    Thanks for the video. Figured it is probably the resister but never would have guessed it was behind the glove box.

    i like the idea of turning the key on after you replace it to see if it is working but only doing it for a short time.

    I had to replace one of these on my 2004 Ford F150 yesterday. I went to pull out from work with my ac on and the fan stopped blowing so I knew exactly what was wrong. I went to my local Advance Auto Parts and picked up one and put it in myself I had to replace one in a 02 Explorer and made the mistake of not putting it back in the hole and it overheated so I had to buy another one and have my mechanic install it because it was such a tight area. I had no problem with the one with my truck. The only problem was getting my big hand in there with the ratchet and bit. I tested mine before I put it back together but only for a short time. I ordered mine online then picked it up. I only spent $14.86 with 15% off and $5.00 off can't beat that

    08 F-150 and the fan only works on speeds 3 and 4. Is there a chance it’s the resistor in this case? I saw yours only worked on speed 4 and the cause was the resistor.

  • @billmckenna5391

    Thank you!!! I thought my fan speed dial was the problem that my blower speed only worked on 3 and 4. I saw your video and thanks to you I saved money and in litterly 5 minutes fixed my blower! If you know how to use a ratchet, you can fix this!!!

  • @robh4955
    @robh4955 Před 3 lety

    If I get max speed 4 but not 1 2 or 3 , would you suspect the blower or resistor?

    Ok so....resistor needs air cooled. Supposition is that the burning electrical smell I experienced as each speed failed was the resistor burning up? Is that correct? Anybody?

    I will add: MAKE SURE YOU BUY A MOTORCRAFT RESISTOR. I did not, and the chinkrap one I bought lasted 11 months. The original MC one lasted 19 years. While you are in there use a large Hole saw and put a hole in the blower box and spray the evaporator coil with foaming coil cleaner. Also run a stiff wire (Electricians snake) down the condensate drain tube. You can just cover the hole with gorilla tape. My 2004 Has no cabin filter, (Dumb ass Ford Engineers) your truck may be different. The difference in air cold air delivery will amaze you.
    Do the same to your home A coil, and outdoor condenser. My HVAC system was installed in 1993 still cooling great. ALL my neighbors replaced theirs years ago. Proper Preventive Maintenance to an HVAC system cannot be overstated. I foam my HVAC A coil every single year before the cooling season, and change filter QUARTERLY. Thanks for the good video, mate!
