    Thank you so much Raj!! I’m going to start my new cloud job (both aws and azure) on Monday and excited for that. Changing tech after 10+ years of exp isn’t easily and finally I was able to do after 1 year of solid preparation. Your system design, kubernetes course helped a lot to clear interviews. I had only Linux and ansible at work and ofcourse, I have bash and ansible implemented in advanced level. I did fail once in AWS sysops cert but passed AwS SAA. Planning for CKA next month. Depending on hands on at work, will plan either aws professional or azure devops within an year. Certs do help to get an interview but doesn’t give you a job. We need to practice a lot.

      Congrats Chaitanya!! I love this, especially you didn't give up after you didn't pass sysops first time. Good luck on CKA. Keep learning and keep rocking!!

      Thank you so much Raj. At work, I now have azure devops, Jenkins, artifactory, jfrog, sonarqube, sysdig, dynatrace, openshift, helm, chef. It’s overwhelming for me and I need to work hard at the job. No aws and ansible which I highlighted a lot in resume. It barely suit my resume and I asked what’s your reason to recruit. He simply answered, no one knows 100% of these tools. your basics in CI/CD, basics of HA and FT, kubernetes internal concepts, attitude, the way you answered questions is impressive and we thought you can do this job easily with your confidence. Knowing Basic principles of CICD, deployment strategies when to apply what and kubernetes basics (since I’m from Linux background I totally understand namespaces and cgroups, container concepts really well). I feel everyone know atleast 50% of what need to be done in cloud and devops. Other 50% is simply choosing what is right for you and working towards it. It’s a great help you have done. I will do my best at work and learn all these things.

      Hi chaithanya, i have 10 yrs of experience in java support, mostly enhancements, now I am working on a development project on Aws, Jenkins, cicd agile model, spring boot, though it's a bit of a struggle since i don't have solid development experience in terms of building a product from scratch. Can you please suggest if i can switch into something without much of development part? What profile can i look for? Thanks

    • @chaitanyavarmasagi1044
      @chaitanyavarmasagi1044 Před 2 lety

      @@dhanyya89 We can look for cloud Engineer/architect role and pick up some area. I chosen devops and mostly into deployment and containers. I would say everyone require some level of scripting experience(either Cloud formation, terraform etc). Raj had posted in some of videos. YAML is very easy to learn and we don’t need to put too effort like learning any programming language. Python is good and vast, but we don’t require to learn everything in python. Basics in python and using Boto3 framework if we are able to create resources reading and going through documentation that would be enough as a starting stage. Once we get a role, everyone will start learning !!

    @Raj, thank you so much for this guidance. I have some questions around AWS work culture and some other topics.
    1) Recently I have been selected for TAM role for India Location. I have 12+ years of experience, any idea what will be my entry level? Is it L6?
    2) But while I go through AWS work culture review, I am bit scary on some parts such as Attrition Rate, Job Security and Firing and PIP process. As you have been part of this company for a long time, what is your opinion on this?
    3) Also, I am bit worried about the pay structure. Seems first 4 years are all clear. What about yearly performance review and increment? Do we get yearly hike as expected based on our performance or that is out of scope?
    4) For TAM role, can you guide as what are the metrics based on which employee is judged?

    • @cloudwithraj
      @cloudwithraj  Před 2 lety

      Hello! If you are constantly learning and working hard, you don't need to worry about anything. Since part of your comp is RSU, as stocks go up, so does your salary! You will get more RSUs after 4th year. In addition to that, your base will also increase every year based on your performance. I hope you choose Amazon!

    what all topics of computer networking one must know for devops?

    • @cloudwithraj
      @cloudwithraj  Před 2 lety +1

      You need to know VPC, public/private, NAT. If DevOps is for Kubernetes, you need to know high level netwroking such as public cluster, private cluster, VPC endpoints for private cluster (coz u need to set those up in DevOps jobs) etc. But for DevOps jobs, you don't need to go deep on Networking. Noone will expect you to know firewall details, how packets flow, eth0 details etc.

      certifications are good to have but you can still get job without it if you have good understanding of these tools....i have never worked on aws and terraform but did training on udemy ...now i am holding 5 offers of 20 lpa+ ...still negotiating before finalising one . There is demand of good skill in market and if you are looking new job now is the time.
      Coming to your next question, slowly and steadily you will need to learn other tools as your work won't be entirely on these two tools.
