  • This video by 4Matic Valve Automation demonstrates the testing of Low Carbon Steel LCB ball valves in accordance with ASME and API Standards. The 4MOK Series ball valves are inherently fire safe and antistatic by design.
    1. 4Matic Floating ball valves are designed in accordance with API 6D & ISO 17292 for ANSI Class ratings 300#, sizes 2" Low Carbon Steel i.e. LCB material have been manufactured for PETRONAS MALAYSIA.
    2. The body testing is conducted as per ANSI 300# Class.
    3. A bottom entry blow-out proof stem, with backseat, assures a higher integrity of sealing at higher pressures. In open condition, a rise in temperature can result in high pressure rise of media in casing, which can damage the seals and cause permanent damage. To resolve this issue the ball has a drilled hole to relieve body cavity pressure to upstream.
    4. 4Matic fire safe design ball valves have secondary metal seats. When in case of fire, if the primary soft seats sublimates; metal to metal contact is attained.
    5. The seat testing is conducted as per ANSI 300# class.
    6. The seat testing as per ANSI 300#. This soft seated ball valve is designed as per leakage class 6 (VI). The mirror finished balls with drilled holes. High quality surface finish is achieved on the ball for longer life of seals and hence the valve. Let’s see the leakage inside, there is no leakage observed.
    7. 4Matic ball valve has antistatic features. Build-up of static electricity can occur as a result of constant rubbing of the ball against the PTFE seats. This can be a potential fire hazard. Especially while handling flammable fluids. The anti-static device fitted on the valve, ensures that friction caused by the operation of the valve does not cause a build-up of static which could potentially spark and have disastrous consequences. The API 607 standard, which certifies the valves as fire-safe, looks at the performance of valves by establishing limits of acceptable leakage when they are exposed to defined fire conditions.
    8. In the anti-static feature, spring loaded balls are provided between the ball & stem and stem & body are assembled with a spring & a stainless steel ball, which provides electrical continuity as per ISO 17292.
    9. Valve design combined with the selection of advanced materials are such that long periods of inactivity should not affect the operation or efficiency.
