  • We try Jet2 from Bristol Airport to Dalaman in Turkey. With all the stories about chaos at the airports, what would the trip actually be like?
This was our fourth trip with Jet 2, the third time flying with them from Bristol airport. Also, this was the first time back at Bristol without any flight restrictions. The flight was part of a Jet2 holiday package.
The Jet 2 flight was on a Boeing 737-800 (G-JZHA) in the extra legroom seats by the emergency exits over the wings. We have pre-ordered the food onboard.
The flight time from Bristol To Dalaman Turkey was 3 hours and 40 minutes.

Strange that this morning, I watched the film titled THE LAST APOSTLE dated 2020, about Paul journeys through Turkey. The entire 2 hours is currently available on CZcams for free. Great movie for all true explorers to see.

Turkey is very intersting place. Although June is a bit too hot for exploring, May and October would be the best time to return.

Only flown once from Bristol. A long time ago. We had a fifteen hour delay flying out to Crete. Bristol airport was a lot less fancy in those days. Get well soon Marcus.

It's not a bad airport during "normal' times. Arrival was far worse than departure.

I flew QueasyJet Bristol- Tunisia on June 9th 2023, and i have to say Bristol Airport is Atrocious. It is a Small regional Airport aspiring to be a Hub Type airport along the like of Gatwick/ Manchester. Too Many Planes at Peak time, which means FAR TOO MANY people at peak time, and the small inadequate infrastructure at Bristol just burst. From Passport control, to Baggage recovery and Silver carparking, ques after que after que. Delayed in landing (Nice holding pattern over The Severn Estuary as no room on the ground for us), Every Passport lane was way back down the corridors, Baggage was a nightmare Several different flights sharing the same baggage carousel, so you can imaging the pushing and shoving and arguments over space to swing your heavy bag off the Carousel onto the floor, Final nail in Bristol's coffin was the bus back to the Silver Carpark! people ramming themselves and their 15 large suitcases onto the bus into a space that a 5 year child would not have fitted. Kids where getting squashed, people where panicking and hyperventilating as the squeeze became serious. What was the driver doing to control safety on his bus??? Sweet F.A! Just sat in his seat, no one was controlling the throngs. This was not a joke now it was serious safety issue.
The que to collect your keys was no better. 1 hassled girl dealing with what i would say was about 300 people trying to get their Car keys back!!!
BRISTOL AIRPORT FROM APRIL TO SEPTEMBER............................NEVER NEVER AGAIN!!! WOULD YOU SAY IT WAS FAIR TO SPEND NEARLY 4 HOURS FROM ARRIVING AT BRISTOL AIRSPACE TO DRIVING AWAY IN YOUR CAR???

Going out wasn't too bad and it's worth it when you get there. If you are concerned about catching anything wear a mask when travelling. We did really enjoy our holiday. We would gladly go again.
When you are actually there, everything is outdoors so social distancing is quite easy. Don't worry too much and just enjoy.
For us, the actual virus was very mild and felt like a summer cold/ hay fever. (We know it can be different and more serious for others).

Marcus & Mel are truly living the life with wall-to-wall holidays - Nice!
Personally, I would love to do more foreign travel but airlines for some unknown reason just do not serve Jumbo Sausages - maybe it's because they resemble a weapon - who knows?
Would you consider taking us on a trip one day to the National Showcaves Center for Wales and the not-too-far-away International Welsh Rarebit centre?
Incidentally, almost everyone with the sniffles, a cold, the flu, or a sore throat will always test positive for C-19 - it's all rigged.

    • @flydriveexplore

A new feature "A Jumbo on a Jumbo" - by the way we have done a video at the national showcaves, it's quite an old short one of ours.

  • @NewCastleIndiana

That video was like the worst of travel video. Sorry but the meals on the flight looked horrible. I hate getting crammed into a plane for hours. And then you went and tested positive, whatever that means or ever meant, but I do hope that it is short-lived and has no lasting effects on you. Add to that the travel delays, and I’m not sure if I’m gonna get on a plane again anytime soon.

    • @flydriveexplore
      @flydriveexplore  Před 2 lety +1

The food actually tasted better than it looked. Even-though the airline got it's act together, air traffic control and the airport are all short staffed.
The dates from testing indicate I couldn't have caught it on the flight itself. I feel fine, in the days before covid I would have carried on as normal (I'm just isolating not to infect others).
