I am not a diabetic but have had hypoglycemic episodes since I began working out again in my early 30's. Sweating, confusion, dizziness, and the most epic episode last summer I literally felt like time stopped. Now I keep candy in my glove box.

Thank you Dr. Berg for these precious informations! Having a Hypoglycemia is very dangerous and scary ! There are so many reasons behind it whether you are diabetic or not . I remember i had it one time in an airplane and never happened to me before., I wasn't diabetic. During the flight i was ok but suddenly for some reasons ( maybe because of altitudes changes and was super exhausted) i wasn't ok then i passed out for few seconds and then i waked up feeling like throwing up and couldn't talk or even move ! The problem is that i was traveling with my daughter who was 3 years old 😞😞 ( who would take care of her ??)) ! I pressed on the buttons to call the flight attendant who came and didn't understand what's going on with me . i was sweating a lot . and told her i want soda , she helped me drinking it cause i couldn't even lift my arms , super scary! After drinking the soda i felt better and the flight attendant was very nice and didn't leave me for the rest of trip.

I think I've experienced hypoglycemia once, I woke up in the morning very tired.
Felt like my heart itself was so tired it can barely work and I was also very hungry.
I think that was due to me trying to achieve ketosis in the wrong way, was simply underfed while not adapting yet to burning fat.
This made me very careful the next time I tried to switch my "normal" carbs diet to keto/low-carb, at first I stuffed myself properly with fat while cutting out the carbs without letting me get too hungry.
    That worked.

    • @rawwoodgifts8117
      @rawwoodgifts8117 Před 3 lety

Also having enough nutrients helps, like electrolytes, vitamin D3&k2, e complex, ect. I personally go crazy hungry if I don't have enough. Or I end up very tired. So I literally use a nutrients app like cronometer to ensure no deficiencies.

I've gone from an T2 that started way back in my 30s while physically fit and active
to becoming insulin dependent to now just down to a reduced amount of orals in my 60s. Feel great that's due a lot to your videos on healthy keto. But fasting and managing meds is always an issue and hard to find an endocrinologist who doesn't hate keto and fasting. I would love to see a video on oral meds and how each works. Working to get off them but that may be a ways off due to too many years of poor sugar management. Biggest issue... reading at 140s at bed time and do let them stay there (it'll rise with dawn phenomenon to 180s) or take some meds and risk going low in the night. Thx... my wife and I think you're awesome!!

All I have him do is keto. He has cut Glucophage & Hydralazine dosage in half. I think he may be able to come off entirely with more time & if he would exercise a bit. Interesting. Throughout my life when I would experience hypoglycemia I would crave protein and salt. A burrito would address it better than anything (beans, sour cream, meat). I would crave roast beef lol odd. I never understood why others said sugar and all I wanted was hearty food. Sugar would work but it wasn't what I wanted. I'd eat and the symptoms would go away. NOW, over the last several years I will sometimes feel that way AFTER I eat. I have had to omit high sugar foods or it will rob me of an entire day trying to regulate my blood sugar. And almost everytime I eat carbs I will fight going to sleep afterward. Someone's I have to nap even before going to bed. 🤦

Last night I had a salad of maybe 2 cups of greens, with about 3 mini peppers with cream cheese, about 5 slices of cucumber, maybe a third of a cup (maybe less) of chicken thigh meat and a sprinkling of shredded cheese. I almost couldn't finish it.

What is best to drink & what toothpaste is best to use with reactive hypoglycemia? After I drink water I feel shaky or lightheaded like my blood sugar is dropping. I notice same side effects with toothpaste. I have reactive hypoglycemia that I am trying to reverse. Thanks much.😊

I seen a doctor for it he put me on metformin thousand milligrams a day he told me to take one pill in the morning and one in the evening and let tell you I was so sick I couldn't pick my head up off my dinning room table I was so weak he also told me to eat stuff with sugar in it I ended up gaining 85 pounds in 2 years and now I can't get the weight off no matter how hard I try.

For those of us suffering from night and daytime hypoglycemia,
If we eat moderate amounts of proteins, low carbs and good healthy fats with no fruit or sugar does anyone know how long before we begin to feel better? My body isn’t making enough cortisol as my adrenals are fried. Appreciate any information. Leading up to this I was doing IF and not eating enough while training for a marathon. Not feeling too great these days.

I put up fencing 5 days a week
Very physical job do I need carbs at the end of the day for tomorrow’s job??
Riders on tour defrance load up on carbs constantly?
I’m not quite physically demanding as them being a fencer
What’s your thoughts on diet suitable??
My work would be equivalent walking 6 hours non stop a day.

Authoritative texts inform us that if the blood glucose falls below a normal level, the liver will convert stored glycogen to glucose to raise the blood glucose back to normal, yet in some people this doesn't seem to happen. Perhaps the pancreatic alpha cells are not being stimulated to secrete glycogen? I am a type one diabetic, and I know that this pathway doesn't function for me: if my glucose drops below normal, I neeed to correct it.

If your blood sugar is below 3.5mmol in the UK hospitals they force you to have a glucose tablet or shot. If you refuse the doctors deem you as lacking capacity to make decisions over your health often leading to mental health act assessment and sometimes being detained under the mental health act.

I eat almost exclusively high quality protein, with salad greens, fried eggs/boiled eggs, and cooked vegetables such as broccoli, and a handful of blueberries or some other fruit as a desert. I drink black coffee and spring water, occasionally sparkling.
Not loosing weight as rapidly as I’d hoped, but once I started adding carbs into my diet again (sweet potatoes, rice, sourdough, crackers, pasta) I noticed my brain fog improves and my weight started to shed more quickly.
I’m a 25 year old woman, and just found out that I may have been hypoglycemic this whole time? I wasn’t giving my body enough sugars/carbs. Why is health this confusing?

So it's time to learn about blood sugar from Dr. Eric Berg

I told my 3 year old pediatrician that I put my 3 year old on a keto and she fricked out and said i am going to kill my child, the next time i said he is just eating lots of veggies including meat and she said oh that's great. see how one little word can change everything.

I started fasting last night. Ate half of what i usually eat at dinner then by it was hard to sleep, by 2am i feel hungry. My legs is a bit trembling. So i researched thi hypoglycemia, and thought maybe im diabetic. Couldnt sleep had to eat a banana and 2 spoon of milk to hopefully syop the lil shakes. It did then fall asleep by 3am. Woke up at 8.30 had sugar meter test says 95. I dont know if i should continue to fast and low carb diet, keto is expensive for me. I eat only what my boss give free food, this is frustrating
