    I was stationed in Misawa Japan back in 1982 as a firefighter, after reviewing this video things sure have changed. Good deal!

      I swapped for Misawa AB, but if I had to do it again I probably would have swapped for England.

    I would be awesome if ya'll did a video on the Osaka Fire Department and even show how the US Air Force fire department is helping the locals. I would love to even see you all to some filming of these guys in Japan responding to other fires in Japan whether on or off the bases.

    Can’t find a slideshow it’s the air National Guard in Great Falls Montana about 2006 to 2009. And it’s the fireman’s deployment.

    What ranks take on what roles around the station in correlation to a civilian department. Would a CMSgt drive "Chief 1?"

    Can you be stationed at any AF Base since fire protection is needed at all bases?

    Interesting vedio... I swear into the Airforce next Friday ! I'm older.. I'll be 36 in February. Would being in fire protection be too physically intense for someone my age ? I've lost over 115 lbs to join the military. I know me being 35 has its advantages and disadvantages... would definitely appreciate any advice :)

      Michelle S Sorry no one has gotten back to you. I'm not at all in the military but I'm sure if you give it your all you should be okay. I've heard that its not extremely physically demanding, but you should definitely be in very good shape.

      Just pass the asvab with a high enough score and if they try to offer you a different job just say no. Its the best job in the military.

    Would love to do this but both the army and Air Force recruiters categorically said no. What do I do?

    • @queline8723
      @queline8723 Před 7 lety

      88frogtoes They didn't. The Air Force Recruiter said they don't need more firefighters right now and the Army Recruiter said he hasn't put someone in that MOS in years and he didn't seem to interested either.

    • @Chi26trojans
      @Chi26trojans Před 7 lety

      I'd call up different recruiters from other areas. If you're dead set on being a firefighter, don't let the recruiters talk you into signing up for a different MOS. Only enlist if you're guaranteed a firefighting job... otherwise walk away, and join a civilian department instead.

    • @queline8723
      @queline8723 Před 7 lety

      Chi26trojans The recruiter told me that I can just join a civilian volunteer department outside the military while I'm in the military. Is that true and if so, I don't want to waste my army career on firefighting if i can be a civilian firefighter while being in the military with a different MOS?

    • @Chi26trojans
      @Chi26trojans Před 7 lety +2

      Was the recruiter talking about being a volunteer FF while on active duty? It would be very difficult to become a volunteer FF while on active duty. First, you'll be extremely busy with your military job. If you end up in any kind of Combat Arms MOS, you'll be doing a lot of field training too (all MOS's go to the field, but combat arms tend to spend much more time in the field), which means you'll be unavailable to do any kind of firefighting. Unless you're married, chances are you'll be living on post in barracks for your first couple of years, which would make it damn near impossible to respond to any emergency calls in a timely manner. Not only that, you'll be moving duty stations every year or two, so that makes it difficult to get hired and established on a volunteer Dept. And then obviously if you get deployed/stationed in a foreign country, you wouldn't be able to do anything involving firefighting.
      In my opinion, disregard what your recruiter said about becoming a civilian volunteer firefighter while enlisted in the military. It would be extremely difficult, especially at a lower rank, and you'll be so busy with the military that you would barely have any time to devote to the volunteer dept.
      My suggestion to you is this - join the Guard or Reserves. Then become a full time firefighter on the civilian side. That is actually what I do. And I know quite a few other people who are in the Guard/Reserves and full time firefighters or paramedics in the civilian world. Drill does sometimes interfere with my work schedule, but it's easy to trade shifts with someone, so it's never an issue. You get the best of both worlds - Firefighting and the military. If you're really that interested in firefighting and joining the Army/AF, you should definitely think about what I just said regarding the Guard/Reserves.

      Chi26trojans Thanks man! I will definitely take that into consideration, in fact, come to think of it, I think that is what I am going to do but, just Incase I do become a firefighter in the military, do you know what the best branch to be a firefighter in is?
