- Mo to the…E to the…That’s the refrain from the theme song to one of the most popular American sitcoms of the ‘90s and early 2000s. Moesha starred R&B singer Brandy Norwood as Moesha Denise Mitchell, an African-American teenager living with her middle-class family in the Leimert Park neighborhood of Los Angeles.

I was waiting on her to mention them. May they all rest well. 🙏🏾🕊️♥️
All of this ❤❤❤
Worse than the Kennedy Curse 😥😰😨
You know a show is dying when Ray J joins the cast.
No lies told lol
Facts ! He kills a lot dying shows!
😂
@@JuicyPopEntertainment😂😂😂😂😂no problem.
😂
Tried watching it as a grown woman and realized how horrible Moesha was. She was an entitled spoiled brat, fast, and a horrible friend.
Girl, you’re not the only one I literally sat there and noticed how she treated her friends and growing up. I just thought like oh she had values and she was respected and she respectable but she was entitled and very self-centered. She was a fucked up person.
@@ivythegreat4943 very fukd up
I realized it back when it was originally aired. As soon as she turned down the Saturn, I was like....something ain't right! She was horrible. It was also very apparent to me that Moesha couldn't do too much because it would reflect badly on Brandy. That's how I know for a fact that was not her pregnancy test in the series finale. I rewatch Moesha because everyone guest starred on the show, so I like the blast from the past.
Same. I tried to give it a chance as an adult because I hated it as a kid lol epic fail.
Most definitely my thoughts when I introduced the shows I watched as a young adult to my daughters.. I was like WTF I would been whooped her lil ass!
Frank wasn't the perfect father but what they did mid season about the secret son was absurd. They turned him into a stereotype.
- Moesha was a spoiled brat .
Mo rebelled because Frank was strict
Yeah I didn't like that storyline either...
She was a brat. I hated when she turned down that beautiful car he gave her. What teenager does that? I was upset like it was me 😂😂😂😂
Nobody liked Frank.
I don’t like how they tryna portray Frank as this horrible dad but facts she was & annoying!
Growing up, Moesha was my show! Rewatching it as an adult, I realized Moesha was a pretty bad friend. Constantly fat shaming Kim, being ableist against Neicey and Hakeem, acting bratty and ungrateful towards her dad and step mom, neglectful towards Myles, and oh let's not mention her failed career as a journalist. She just wasn't a good person at all Chile 🤦🏽♀️
Yeahhhhhh❤❤❤
So Brandy was just playing herself 😂
I used to love Moesha as a child. A few years back I tried to rewatch on Netflix and only made it 6 episodes before I couldn’t take her anymore. I ended up binging The Parkers. I didn’t see it then but as an adult and mother, I couldn’t take her.
😂
Moesha should’ve ended after she graduated high school.. When it was good ….. The season when she went off to college was horrible 🤦🏽♂️
The season started out kind of whack too! It really should have ended with the graduation episode.
lmao, everytime people go to college they can’t give a proper storyline. one on one was like that too
Moesha definitely deserved a proper ending it ended on a cliffhanger
I agree. Even though the show's ratings dropped, it still should have had a proper ending.
@@josephclegg3562 the parkers should've resolved the cliffhanger on Moesha
@jayvandyke2972 No, it shouldn't. The Parkers were a totally different show from Moesha, even tho it was a spinoff from Moesha. Moesha should have had its own proper ending. The producers should have resolved the storylines before the cancelation. As for The Parkers, l too believe it ended wrong. I don't think that it was supposed to have ended that way. There should have also been another season to show how life was for Stanley and Nikki as a married couple.
@@josephclegg3562 Yes i agree with you both shows had bad endings Nikki and the professor were toxic they did not deserve to get married at the end
Yup miles being kidnapped
I’m here for this tea!!! Moesha is one of my favorite shows, but Moesha was a terrible friend and can be annoying. Also, Kim Parker is an underrated fashion icon lol
Yep .. she was a spoiled brat
She was also a kid
Yess I loved Kim Parker’s outfits in Season 3 and 4 !!!!!!
Agreed!! Kim's outfits were everything!!!
Never forget when Kellita Smith was on Moesha, and she was the delivery woman and Bernie Mac flirted with her but on the Bernie Mac Show Bernie was the delivery man and Aunt Wanda was the customer
Fun Fact: Teresa, Moesha’s friend throughout Season 2, is Janet Jackson’s back-up dancer in many of her videos including THATS THE WAY LOVE GOES, YOU WANT THIS and on her tour and promo interviews back then like MTV Jams. She’s also in the music video WHO DO YOU LOVE by Deborah Cox and the video LIVIN LA VIDA LOCA by Ricky Marin.
She’s so beautiful to me!!❤ yass you know all the tea!! ☕️ Her name is Nicole Pantenburg, she was also married to the one & only Babyface❤
And she appeared in Selena's posthumous music video "Techno Cumbia".
There’s also another fun fact about Marcus T Pauk getting it in with Alexis fields, as well as former reality, show star Natalie Nunn
“Moesha“ was great until Ray J joined the show. His introduction was when the show truly jumped the shark.
Back when UPN was the channel!! UPN had a lot of shows such as Moesha, The Parkers, Girlfriends, Half & Half, One on One, Malcolm & Eddie, Sparks, Goode Behavior, Cuts, Eve, and many more!!
The younger networks like THE UPN and THE WB was everything back then! 😍😍
Don't forget Good News, Grown Ups, and Homeboys ln Outer Space!
For the wrestling fans..WWF smackdown was also on UPN
Omg, the nostalgia!
Yes
Seems like Brandy ruined her own show honestly. Things would be so different if they kept it as a comedy about a positive black family. If they wanted more serious and bad things happening, they could have easily given Frank's secret son storyline to a different character
great videos. you got yourself a new subscriber
Worst thing was bringing Ray j on that show and kim leaving🤣🤣
Ray J is a curse when it come to sitcoms. Sinbad show cancelled, Moesha cancelled, One on One cancelled and Love n Hip Hop Hollywood cancelled.
@@thetruesoulofanaquarius9302 damn homeboy should never act again🤣🤣🤣

Not gonna lie but Kim Parker was the highlight of MOESHA[to me].
And THE PARKERS was a better show[to me].
Regardless of the backstage dramas they all came together and brought forth great shows.
Moesha was definitely one of my favorite shows as a kid/teen. ❤I will never forgive them for bringing Ray J on the show as a main character and the terrible series ending.😡
There should have been a well written conclusion. Moesha DESERVED far better!
@@danavixen6274How did it end.
@user-vp2sc8wd6t Moesha ended on a cliffhanger. Hakeem asked Mo to move in with him. Jerome finds a positive pregnancy test in Mo's dormroom bathroom and learns that either Mo or one of her dormroom roommates is pregnant, but it is never revealed who is pregnant due to the show's cancelation. I believe it probably was Alicia since she was gaining weight and having weird food cravings. Also, Lamont, a thug Dorian met in jail that saved him from being beat up by Big Norm, returned along with Big Norm and wanted half of his group as payment for saving his life in jail. Dorian refused to give Lamont half of his group, and Lamont kidnapped Myles. Myles fate was also unresolved because of the cancelation.
RAY J ruined one on one too
The way they went about the series finale was just disrespectful 😂🤦🏽♀️
😂😂 the biggest cliffhanger in television history
The first four seasons of Moesha(especially Season 2) was high quality television that infused great storytelling with R&B/Hip Hop vibes surrounding the show. It was exhilerating to watch the gang figure out how they were going to sneak into a concert, a club or road trip to see the performing artist of the week. One of most effortless and sophisticated episode of Moesha will always be when Moesha and Aaron are in his dorm room. Not only is the scene so damn smooth with the R&B instrumental lightly playing in the background, but it also is such a positive portrayal of intelligence and maturing of age. The philisophical diary entries at the opening and ending made the show unique and was a great work of art to watch.
The rating did fall dramatically during and after season 5, but l do think the show needed a proper ending.
I remember watching Moesha in my preteen and teen years and being so annoyed by Moesha the character. Specifically, I was so ticked at Moesha for turning down a FREE car and how much of a brat she was about it. I am still mad about that lol.
Just like with Alf, if ratings are down don't end a season with a dark cliffhanger in the hopes the network won't cancel it. The network doesn't care.
For those who don't know about Alf, the final episode of Alf ends with him finally getting caught by federal agents. And if you remember they had plans to experiment on him and they said extreme heat, extreme cold and dissection.
Nostalgia. I could tell there was drama on the set. Fredo was clout chasing at Brandy's expense. He knew exactly what he was doing. It was funny how they made Brandy's character bad at singing lol. RIP to the fallen cast members.
A Moesha reunion back in 2017 was definitely enough because a Moesha reboot will never happen without Lamont Bentley, and Yvette Wilson, a Martin reboot will never happen without Tommy Ford, a reboot of Fresh Prince will never happen without James Avery, a Bernie Mac Show will never happen without Bernie Mac, or even a Wayans Bros reunion won't happen without John Witherspoon
No thank you to the reboots.
Reeboots these days are way to politically strict and the format would probably be another BET sitcom or tyler perry-esque drama. That reunion was definitely enough. Today’s gimmicks would probably ruin it.
I agree with both comments..One of the few shows I can think of that could even do a reboot if done right is "Girlfriends"
@@brandonbates9259yes I think shows like that can definitely have a reboot. Some of the discussion was ahead of its time and definitely fit the social intelligence today.
But younger shows like Moesha and Smart Guy would lose its youthful innocence to today’s corny tiktok, meme, gif trend one-liners along with losing it’s smooth flow by having trap music/mumble rap of today. I guess I’m getting old lol.
@@brandonbates9259I'm glad all of the 'girlfriends' are STILL beautiful and talented. They shared the screen with each other in an episode of Blackish. I thought this was really cool especially since Reggie Hayes was included in the reunion. For the most part, I'm TIRED of reboots. 🙅🏾♀️
@@AmoMe2009And we don't need that! Let the classics be classics! 🙅🏾♀️
That revelation about Frank being Dorian’s father soured me with the show.
Yeah that ruined the show completely
Moesha had a lot of guest stars such as 702 (RIP Irish Grinstead), Brandon Adams, Usher, Nikki Pantenberg, Samantha Esteban, Andrew Keegan, Chaz Lamar Shepherd, Dante Basco, Arthel Neville, Ginuwine, Big Pun (Big Pun and Fat Joe appeared on the remix to Brandy's song Top of the World), Ed Lover, Doctor Dre, Denise Dowse, Meagan Good, Sinbad, Anna Maria Horsford, Kym Whitley, DMX, Mo'Nique, Loretta Devine, Silk, Mary J. Blige, Vince Carter, Kobe Bryant, Derek Fisher, Golden Brooks, Ja'Net Dubois, Morris Day, TK Carter, Clifton Powell, Bow Wow, Maia Campbell, Kenny Lattimore, Jason George, Phil Morris, Fernando Vargas, Lil Kim, Jodeci, A Tribe Called Quest, Adele Givens, Montell Jordan, 112, Nancy Wilson, Tommy "Tiny" Lister Jr, Soul for Real, Idalis DeLeon, Lisa Leslie, Don Franklin, Emmanuel Lewis, Chico DeBarge, Datari Turner (best known for creating the WE reality show Growing Up Hip-Hop), Boyz II Men, and many more!!!
And Jodeci!
Merlin Santana as well
Yeah brandy and her mom were wrong , for trying to force the show to turn into a drama
I can’t believe that happened. This was a surprising fact to me. I can’t believe they wanted to change the tone..ridiculous.
Brandy stayed in drama back in the day lol
Although the Season 2/3 theme song is the epitome of the 90s, the Season 4 theme song hands down is the dopest version of the show. From the quick choregraphic flow at the beginning, to the warm tone/color throughout, it was a solid piece to jam to every week on UPN. We Brandy fans know how smart the show was to enlist Darkchild(Rodney Jerkins) to create it at that particular time.
1998 was Brandy phenomenon!
Wow I literally said the same thing about the season 4 intro in another comment lol
So FORTUNATE to have seen Brandy, 702, Ray J and C Note back in '99! ❤ Rest in paradise, Irish and Orish Grinstead. 😔🙏🏾❤️🕊️
I was in love with Lamont, still cant believe hes gone .
Brandy and Countess Vaughan are very cool and friendly now. It's so beautiful to see that they've both apologized and moved on now that they're grown adults. People forget they were literally kids growing up on that set
Countess apologised Brandy didn’t 😊
One the best Moesha story arcs will always be her storyline with Q “Quinton”. It was so realistic and well done especially in the second half of Season 2. Dee handled that scene very well when they caught Moesha “running away” at Q’s dad’s barbershop.
That storyline also started the beginning of Moesha wanting independence and sparring with Frank Mitchell even when Q departed the series. The Frank vs Moesha episodes were great to watch in Season 3 and it made for a cool type of cliffhanger that summer of 1998. It also made for a good addition to her theoretical diary entries at the beginning and end of each episode. I personally don’t mind Frank’s strictness and it made the show unique as other teen show counterparts let “their” children get away with anything or simply say “you’re grounded” for that one little episode and that’s it. Frank was episodically strict which made the show unique. Even if you disagree, you can’t deny how great the Q/Moesha/Frank storyline was in Season 2.
Moesha was a very solid sitcom, with a very solid cast, until Dorian (played by Ray J) showed up and the storyline turned Frank Mitchell from a stand up father into an irresponsible adulterer who fathered a child outside his first marriage and basically abandon him (Dorian). In my mind.
I'm not the biggest fan, but I'd have to get removed from the audience for a verbal disruption..lol
Just like what happens in real life.
I hated the way that Moesha ended. The writers knew that they could have made one more episode.
I really wish the show didn't end with Myles being kidnapped then getting cancelled. Regardless it will remain part of black TV forever.
R.I.P. Lamont Bentley and Yvette Wilson
I’m just waiting.. as much as I love Brandy’s vocal ability. I just want for people to just be honest and say that she’s a shitty person at times. There’s too much around her that goes on for none of it to of been her fault. She’s always the Victim..
That part!
She’s my favorite singer and I agree. I think she herself at times look back at how she was in her youth and winces. But it’s kind of conflicting because you have some say all these great things about her character (retrospectively) and others like Kelly and Sherryl say she was flat out obnoxious etc. A lot of her shadow aspects seem to be situated around work. I give her some grace because of her professional stature at the time as well as her mother. I think there was a deep reason why she cut ties with her mother professionally. All in all, I think she has taken time to work on herself and seems to have such a bright energy these days. Probably from mending relationships she harmed in the past. Her personality and light are actually fitting her vocal if you look closely enough
@@JuicyPopEntertainment5:20 yes.
I agree. Love brandy but she and her momma were toxic divas back in the day...momma still is but glad to see Brandy grew up.
I agree, glad she's matured since then.
The episode Secrets and Lies was the downfall of Moesha
Couldn’t stand that crap. I remember watching like wtf is this. Then being underwhelmed for the rest of the season well into Season 6.
They should have listened to Sheryl Lee Ralph and the other cast members who told them the change would have a negative impact on the show. But you know, "they were too goodie goodie for black people" or whatever bs they said.
No it wasn't is was Ray J just being in the show is when it took a nose dive, he was and is so annoying.
@@j.t.7671Agreed. Totally
My class used to sing “Moe to the E to the…” when I came in in the morning because everyone thought we looked alike. I was in 5th grade. I hated it 😂 We tuned in for Q religiously 💕
There'll never be another era of black sitcoms like the '90s. I was young, but we honestly didn't know how good we had it. But I'm happy that there's a renaissance happening again. Seasons 1 to 4 of _Moesha_ are gold. Then everyone switched over to _The Parkers_ although they made Kim's character more of an airhead and Nikki desperate for the Professor it's a classic show that still holds up today.
So, Brandy was the big problem.
Thea Vidale, the comedian who starred in the sitcom, "Thea" with Brandy said in multiple interviews that Brandy and her mama were hard to work with...
Moesha was one of MANY must see FAVES back in the '90s. The catchy theme song as well as the beautiful and talented cast drew me in. I just wish the show's conclusion could have been better. Rest in paradise Lamont Bentley and Yvette Wilson. 😔🙏🏾❤️🕊️
I’ve never been a big Brandy fan honestly but I did like Moesha. Kim really did make the show when she was on there she was funny and relatable. She was good on the Parkers too
Yup
I've heard those rumors, too, about the Moesha cliffhanger storylines were supposed to be resolved on The Parkers, but that doesn't make sense to me. Why would you resolved another shows storyline on another show? Sure The Parkers is the spinoff from Moesha, but they are totally different shows. Moesha's cliffhanger should have been resolved on Moesha, not The Parkers. Anyway, there was an episode on The Parkers that took place after Moesha ended where Hakeem visited Kim and Stevie to show them his new car, and during his visit he never said anything about Mo or their relationship or Myles. I'm assuming he and Mo are not together anymore and Myles must have been returned safely to the family.
Please do Girlfriends next. I love these segments on tv shows
Yeah I dont know Brandy seemed to have alot of small beef back then. Even Monica had her little beef with her😂 Still love her tho! She probably just felt she was all that since she was a big star back then 💀
Unpopular opinion: I actually still loved the show after Ray J came on😂😂 I really loved their college days episodes hanging out at The Pendulum & Dorian w/ his lil bada**😂😂😂
Man Ray was one of my first crushes I loved him on the show lol
So i haven't even watched the vid yet and I'm sad seeing all the comments about Frank being the worst Dad... Yeah what is wrong with y'all?? Lol 😂 Frank was strict. He wasn't a push over. He didn't let his kids get away with everything.. and he had to balance home life and work life. Reminds me alot of my childhood. That's why i related so heavily to Brandy's Character. Now was Frank perfect... absolutely not! Could he gave shown more grace? Yes! He was a flawed man for sure but doing his best raising kids along with his wife in the 90s!
I don't get it either, it's on those throwback posts on ig and Facebook too.
The 3rd version of the theme song is the best.
My husband didn’t have UPN in his town in the boonies so we’re watching (in my case rewatching) Moesha and I’m still perplexed as to why they kept calling Kim fat. I mean, she wasn’t rail thing but good grief it was a lil much.
I didn't appreciate Moesha as a kid as I was more concerned with cartoons but I did like watching it with my family.
Where the hell was I when Ray played 3 damn parts?
😂 girl u ain’t miss a thing.. once Ray j entered the chat the show went down hill
@@brownfudge2653 lol I ain’t no damn girl 😂😂😂😂 and you right well it was still sorta good he just can’t act
I used to watch this show all the time back in day…I never thought about watching black ppl and I’m white..I just liked the show ..I don’t see skin color tho ..I see the ppl and who they are..
The WORST storyline is what they did to Frank's character making him the father instead of the uncle. I stopped watching the show after that. But I imagine it gets worse as they had to come up with more storyline to support that one.
I love this Juicy Pop. You are on a roll. Moesha was a great sitcom Frank Mitchell was the worst TV dad ever, too overprotective over his daughter and sending Miles to his room. Dee would balance things at times then Dorian came along. UPN had a great lineup of shows BTW can you please do some more episodes of black sitcoms that were on UPN?

Finally! My Show!! ❤
I can appreciate the video, especially when I thought I heard it all, I didn't. Thanks for the juicy tea on the backstage drama. Brandy and her momager was something else. I think I watched the first few seasons and then when Ms. Vaughn had her own show, I watched The Parkers more. I wasn't happy about the loose ends of the show, "Moesha". If you didn't know, Fredro Starr was a member of the rap group, onyx, that had the top ten pop/rap/r&b hit "slam".
Great video. Loved this show, my older sister would watch it and I got into later on. I agree with everyone on Frank is Dorian's father storyline, it didn't make any sense, he already had flaws as a father and husband, there was no need for that. I always wondered why Moesha switched High schools, thank you for clearing that up.
Countess Vaughn was the Steve Urkel of Moesha
So everyone had an issue with Brandy
Moesha was a brat, I’m sorry. And I feel like Brandy acts that way in real life. I never liked any of her characters, including One on One and The Game. She was only tolerable in Cinderella because I’m sure Whitney was getting on that ass anytime she wanted to act up.
Great story on Moesha
I’m loving these videos about past shows. So nostalgic! Great job. Can’t wait for the next one 😊

Love these videos. Great job
I loved Moesha when I was in middle and early high school.. so many fine boys on that show lolol sooo much nostalgia… but when I watch it now as an adult, I get so annoyed with how annoying and entitled Moesha was. She was a nightmare for a parent lol.. and brandy in general seems as if she is not easy to get along with. I have heard about so many ppl having issues with her including Whitney Houston…
Of course Brandy had issues and was hard to work with, she had-TOO-much success early in life and was-TOO-immature and childish to handle that success.
Yeah I feel the same way. I always felt like she was bratty and it annoyed me so much lol.
😂 rewatching Moesha made me realize the same thing about that character.
Moesha was really our. Silent undercover. First 304. The pookie she had member from onyx. He was the first pookie
How old are you? I see you never progressed past the highschool mentality.
I never clicked on a video so fast 😂😂
Frank Mitchell: the worse TV father of all time with his flat top 🍅
Absolutely I couldn't stand Frank.
Lol he was not. I mean he had his moments that made him flawed. But he was a very relatable Dad character. Growing up my parents weren't super strict but they were strict compared to my friend's parents. I always related to Moesha. The things Frank said No to or got upset about reminded me alot of my Dad what he allowed and didn't allow.
Even though Frank was definitely flawed, they ruined his character by the end. Also, how can you say he's the worst father when the following TV dads exist:
1. Archie Bunker (All in the Family)
2. Al Bundy (Married with Children)
3. Frank Barone (Everybody Loves Raymond)
4. Michael Kyle (My wife and kids)
5. Dre Johnson (Blackish)
6. Christopher Hayden (Gilmore Girls)
7. Benny Upshaw (The Upshaws)
Well since you made the behind-the-scenes of Moesha why don't you do the same for The Parkers next
So basically Sonya ruined moesha 🤔
I think Brandy and Countess Vaughn had problems because Countess Vaughn became a fan-favorite that was probably one of the problems but I'm happy that her and Monique got their own spin-off show the parker I was so mad when they cancel so many black shows on UPN that was messed up and they did the same thing in the 90s with black shows I think it was Fox
I don’t like how they portraying the dad as a horrible father because he wasn’t & Moesha was annoying as hell anyway! 🤣
I hated the 3rd intro version. We just rewatched as an adult and they way they did the frank/dorian/dee situation was a mess. And her made up engagement to q then hook up with Hakeim.
Mo to tha,E to tha! ❤ anyone who knows me they know how much I adore Brandy & I always loved “Moesha”❤. A middle class Black family with mostly positive family values lol. It meant everything to me to see a beautiful exotic-looking,unambiguous Black woman on tv who rocked braids like I do lol.
Now not too much on Brandy in these comments now..I definitely don’t think she was an angel all the time. She was under a massive amount of pressure being a multi-platinum-selling teen superstar. I think she’s sassy & opinionated & I’m sure that coupled with all the pressure she was under was probably a recipe for loads of drama on & off the set.
💡 Remember there’s a lot of messy, insufferable heauxs in the industry y’all don’t call out as often if ever *cough cough Onika😏😏 but I digress chileee
Good insight on Brandy,a then 16/17 yrs trying to deal with all that pressure and expectations of success.Being that young with all that success, she was very immature and childish to deal with, not dissing Brandy,I mean what 16/17 yrs knew what to do ??? She did the best she could at that time.I remember joining the navy at 18,boy,did I have a lot to learn. LOL. But,most of my bosses knew I was young and away from home on my own for the first time,so they were very patient and forgiving. LOL.

@@beemochaI love love love the show too. One of the best memories is the epic concert episode with A Tribe Called Quest/112/X Scape etc. The DMX concert, Dru Hill concert and the Moesha concert of course.
I love that they even made a fictional group consisting of Kim, Hakeem and Q and it spilling into Kim having her own musical group in The Parkers. This show was everything when it came to music.
This is what I miss about the 90s. Incorporation of smooth music--Sister Sister and New York Undercover did well with that too.
