    Man United are now exploring options for a new training ground under Jim Ratcliffe, so let's run through everything we know so far about the plans, locations, the architects involved in the design and much more.

    Carrington isn't held in the same regard as the Cliff was, and moving into a Brand new Training Complex, would be fabulous
    for new signings, and the Teams at Utd, but it's the Stadium, that will cause more controversy

      i agree, whatever decision is made on old trafford will be scrutinized immediately, whether its a revamp or a completely new stadium as a result of the neglect, a revamp would keep old trafford around but would take much longer and cost more which might not go well with the other issues the club has to address, building a completely new stadium would probably be a better idea but fans may not like it because of how important old trafford is to us

    A great view on this Sam, and it has been fascinating reading comments. I echo the sentiment that maybe we shouldn't be looking at "best in class" like Gary Neville commented but actually looking at broadening what is the future of football as a science and continually being the fore-bearers. Us common folk who work a 9-5, we are massively swayed on what job we work depending on the environment we are offered to work in. Some of us choose to work a lesser paid job because of the positive environment we work in. What makes us the more attractive to work for, is only going to help us as we approach new talent. Although I think the rebuilding of Carrington / new facilities is a massive improvement for our club, one that I wholesomely encourage because of our affinity with bringing through young talent, we have to accept it will take the best part of a decade for it to bare fruit. Sadly, City are an example of this.

The designer behind Leicester City's training ground ( which has become among the best in the UK ) is on board with helping us design & build a new state of the art training facilities on a massive patch of land hence why we're looking into purchasing golf courses & turn into a a proper state of the art training facilities. As a drainage engineer, the golf course thing isn’t due to that. It’s just large scale available land that potentially could get through planning.
    With planning and design etc. you’re looking at 3 years minimum total as will take over a year to get that through before construction even starts.

  • @johnhammond4214
    @johnhammond4214 Před 4 měsíci +1

    One training complex for all United teams would result in economies of scale and better use of resources. One lot of medical staff, one gym that would be used far more, etc, etc.
    A golf club would make perfect sense. Interest in playing golf has plummeted over the last 20 years and waiting lists for golf club membership have fallen from 5+ years at some clubs to clubs offering 6 months free membership. I imagine that a training ground would also fit in with councils planning regulations, as it would still be a sports facility.
    Please do it asap and get United back to the top, where we belong!

  • @nirviigaming

    Building on a new location mean they can do anything new while keep old one under running. Golf courses are big enough for the job and easier to done deal than many small lands combined.
    Renovating the old one meaning many limitations especially if u want to keep it running while renovating. The cost (and time) also quite high due to lengthy timeline, phasing and protection etc.

    The reason why Leicester used the golf course because the use of the land was already established in planning as leisure and they were able to build on existing buildings and keep part of the existing golf course for use by their players. United(no) scandinavian supportersite, "Bjarte Valen" ment that renewing Old Trafford would minimumly come up to 800M in price, most likely more and a new stadium would arrive around 2B.
    added to that, if a stadium now were to be built, industry standards would mean that OT should expand it's ground with 75% in areal.. there simply is not enough space to expand it much more..
    Never mind the fact that most of what's in it (obviously not EVERYTHING) but on the surface.. everything would have to be replaced and renewed.

    I understand the thought process here but the idea that facilities have to be architecturally pleasing on the eye in order to be 'top notch' is strange. We may have outgrown Carrington because of the expansion of the team's, including the women's team, but it doesn't mean we can't have the best training equipment and work on the waterlogged pitches to make drainage better, repurpose some land for modern workout recovery or medical facilities etc.
    I never understood Cristiano's comments, was he criticising the gym equipment, the pitches, the coaches or does he expect every team to spend 100's of millions every ten years just for a change of scenery.
