Calling Kassam a hotelier is a bit of a stretch, he was a slum lord
Prety lady say ting
@@kaing5074 Pardon ?
He needs to do a stretch the way he’s treated Oxford
. 🎯. 😂😂
I think the new Oxford ground should have an actual library, so that when away fans chant "Is this a library?" the home fan(s) can respond: "It's over there. It's over THERRREEE. This isn't the library-- that's over there!"
Might be a problem when they play Reading...
Love it ! and it might attract all those swotty students and academics most of them can read ! then a special match with Cambridge ( like the Boat Race) AND internationals against French or Italian Unis ~
York FC do have a library attached to the stadium. Must be posher then Oxford.
Priority number one for a new stadium is a massive photo of StuntPegg on each side of the ground.
Exactly what I was thinking
I’d second that
@stuntpeggnieve Are you of Italian heritage ??
And a statue near the main entrance ! Something inspiring, like Joan of Arc
But with Stunt Peggs image of course
A pub where the home and away fans are separated by an ant farm...
Yeah, perspex was a hot topic today
**UPDATE ON THE NEW STADIUM**: the decision has been deferred til 2025, per the BBC.
Whatever, the lease still runs out in 2026.
@@samuelgarrod8327 agreed, which is why there is stress among the fanbase
I’ve got a feeling the club will end up having to ground-share. Cutting ties with Kassam feels like the best way forward even if it is hard at first.
@@stuntpeggnieve. What’s the closest Championship quality ground in the area?
@@stuntpeggnieve at least short term that's what i assume too. given the circumstances you described, I was half-expecting you to tell us that that was what they were doing.
Hey, just wanted to say that as an American who has never been into football (or soccer as we call it for whatever reason), your videos have really gotten me into it on a whole new level. I’ve been to an MLS match and I’ve been watching the copamerica and I have plans to see matches in Europe this summer. Thanks so much for your funny and informative videos, they’ve totally changed my view on football. -a newly football loving American :)
4th stand should just be a giant bouncy castle.
I think their mascot should be an actual ox that "watches" the game in the away end with the opposition fans. That would complete their new stadium to the fullest
The concept of an ant farm is alien to you.

Or 'I see your fourth stand in the bin'....
I worked on building the main structure in 1998/1999. The foundations with holding down bolts were cast for the 4th stand but they had no money at the time for the steelwork.
The bit on the bus at the end got the "like". LOL.
Haha! Thank you
It's the guy's reaction sat next to her which adds to the funny scene 😂
Been there twice as an away fan. Both times in winter. Bloody cold when the wind comes through the missing end.
I wondered about that! It’s like a manmade wind tunnel.
It is absolutely Baltic in the winter. Like you’re sitting in a freezer.
Also corners when it’s windy are especially fun…
Can only assume Robbie owns shares in Perspex.
it was in heavy rotation

recently discovered your videos and you're brilliant. Thank you for making them. Also the use of Chris de Burgh's seminal hit is the through line I never knew I needed.
Haha! Really pleased you’re enjoying them. Thank you :)
Is this revenge for Oxford winning the play off final 😅
😂😂😂
Bolton get battered everywhere they go, we are championship I say we are championship 😊
Nieve, I really enjoy your “on the scene” videos! Gives us an up close and personal look at the clubs, stadiums and supporters that you’re covering. Thanks and great job! ❤️👏🏻
I reckon number 1 priority should be making the fans feel like this is their home, this is where Oxford play, rather than it being a soulless bowl. Not to toot our own pre-match tuba but St. Mary's has that prefect balance between a much-needed modern ground and feeling just as much like our home as the Dell did
That ship sailed long ago, pretty hard not to when essentially your owner fucks the club, gets rid of it, and becomes a hostile landlord instead. To you, the one and only tenant, the only viable tenant.
You're probably leaving as many dents in the wall as you can, like.
It’s called an ant farm.
It took Deportivo La Coruna until 1996 to build a fourth stand and this was 51 years after they started to play at the Estadio Razor in 1944.
Your combination of pictures and music at 0:13 is possibly my favourite thing on the internet today. Well played! 🙌
Thank you! Very glad it doesn’t go unnoticed
The way I see it watching a game while having a drink at the worst stadium in the English football is better than my best day at work !
Get a different job before you go mad then.
Where do you work ? Home Office ? Fujitsu ?
Nowhere near being the worst ground in England ... Just clickbait.

Exciting times to come in the championship and the new stadium on the way.

Shopping centre works for the 4th stand. We have a football "stadium" in a shopping mall here in Singapore, it's called "Our Tampines Hub"
Really enjoyed that, thanks very much. Informative and funny in equal measure. I could happily watch a new video of yours every day!
No one gonna mention willlssssooonnn on the whiteboard then theres Wilson as well 😂😂😂😂😂 dont ever change stuntpegg ❤

Ummmm
Oxford have done brilliant to get to the championship.
Some of the best football content on the web. Love it! Keep up the great work!
Bristol Rovers "stadium" is the worst one I've been to
Always nice to hear from a Bristol city fan
It is bad, but nowhere near as bad as Brighton's one time temporary home, the Withdean Stadium.
Thankyou StuntPegg for this video.
Easy transportation connections, proximity to fans, and four stands are a must. You don't want your stadium so far from your own supporters. But one thing I'd say is particularly important is making sure it's got a little character and isn't just a dull generic modern stadium.
The forth stand could be a giant pie, without any pie shops.
Have a opening song of "I'm still standing" or "Don't go breaking my heart" now they've promoted.
The seat pitch at Loftus Road is no joke. Makes you dream of Ryanair.
Like the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square, they should get artists to come up with things to take the place of the fourth stand.
Your music selection is always top shelf.
Could be better if we heard tracks from artists on the record label on her t-shirt… ;)
Nieve 😍 she's so pretty
Love the song choice at the start
Really enjoy your videos. Your wit and sense of humor is very entertaining!
Thank you very much!
The Manor Ground, that was something else. Glad I went there. Still never been to this one.
StuntPegg to the Kassam! Oxford fans rally, and I’ll say something like what I said under Sam’s video: it’s probably not the worst stadium by any metric, but has occasionally felt like it, fortunately we’ll probably be out of there in a few years - the smell is sewage by the way and it is one of the worst parts but not appalling. I’m overjoyed that we’ve had a promotion and hopefully it propels the stability and attractiveness for players.
Edit: suggestions for new ground, we’re tired of being made fun of on twitter so we need five stands, that’ll show em. I do genuinely agree with transport links though, transport to Kassam is bogus.
you should make a playlist featuring all songs you use in your vids plz
Really loved how you embraced your silly side with this one 🤣 you and Robbie is a dangerous combo
what about a big giant net to catch the balls and a swimming pool when its really hot
A pivotal addition would be the UK’s largest triangular shaped jumbotron in place of the 4th stand. Along with a live Ox mascot named Trinity who grazes pitchside. Finally, an attached pub beneath the jumbotron that is named “The Pythagorean & Theorem”
You have a "Wilson" volleyball (Castaway) - Awesome, you have it all :)
Your funny and entertaining Nieve. I like the cut of your jib. Also, the acoustics have to be scientifically arranged so that the atmosphere is as intimidating as possible. Oxford United seem to have done the exact opposite of that! Oh well.
Fun fact: the singer of Lady In Red, Chris de Burgh, is from Oxfordshire and is a huge fan of the U’s. So Nieve was spot on with the musical choice. Plus apparently he was also my biological father. So this hits on many levels. This was all according to my mum. She’s dead now, so I can’t ask her if any of this is true.
Cool to have Chris De Burgh as your dad

Here in Cambridge you can see cows on the way to the match, they should do that.
I'm a Forest Green fan, we have a field above our ground that used to have sheep in it until the last couple of seasons where they were replaced with a horse, which on occasion would run from side to side when games were being played...I'd like to think it was following the action but that might be pushing it a bit...at times the watching horse was more entertaining than the football.
You used to be able to do that in Milton Keynes, trouble was they were all made of Fibre Glass.
I can't wait until the new ground gets built. The site of the new ground is within walking distance of Oxford Parkway station so there's better transport links when the ground is ready 😉
I’ll be excited to visit and exclusively get the train to take *full* advantage of the walking distance
Enjoying the banter and didn't even notice the statue til Robbie mentioned it at 8:05. Beautiful work from both of you!
I can't imagine a modern stadium without a pillow fight arena,
Or a mudwrestling arena ? Imagine all those fat gits ...
Don't build a temporary stand, Gillingham did years ago, named it after Brian Moore of London Weekend TV fame, and its still there.
Nothing more permanent than a temporary structure.
I like how all your vlogs make me feel concern for the welfare of the various clubs involved but also make me laugh at how stupid their situations usually are. It can't be easy to walk the thin line between respect and ridicule but somehow you do it every time. Kudos.
Appreciate this comment a lot. You’re totally right there’s such a fine line, I think it’s so important to have a laugh but also know when to read the room.
It makes sense not having a fourth stand. Even if you're getting beat 6-0 you can still sing "You're not singing anymore" without fear of comeback.
A lot of stadiums in (smaller countries of) Europe have 3 stands. And I mean top division clubs.
"You've only got 3 stands" feature in a lot of away fans chants - especially if they're getting beaten and have nothing else to sing about.
As an oxford fan, yes, its an awful stadium. Horrible to get to for both home & away fans. Hoping we can get our new stadium sorted but theres a long way to go

Another fab video. Which pub in Lancs/Yorks was it? The Border Rose Inn at Todmorden?

Think I might need glasses. Could have sworn it was a Taliban t-shirt for longer than I should have
Entertaining and informative, I like your dry sense of humour. Looking forwards to your next video 👍
Doing Sheffield weds on Wednesday plus bramall lane also Rotherham then trying to push onto Doncaster for the 92 league challenge
I think fans would really appreciate hot baths, Roman style, complete with hypocaust, instead of seats. Luxuriously lounging in a pool of hot water, a pint in one hand, kebab in the other. Think about it 😉
The one I wouldn't want to get stuck as an away fan is Priestfield (Gillingham) - no roof! must be a nightmare on a rainy night 😆
I still need to visit, just to see that construction work in all it’s glory 😂
As an Oxford United fan, to say that about the atmosphere not being on top of it, I’d recommend coming to a game. Where loud & proud. I’m glad we’ve been approved for the new stadium plans. It’s going to be so much easier getting to the new stadium
You just want to meet Stunt ! Why dont you admit it
Don't hold your breath ......
once again Nieve proves her excellent music taste
When I was at uni, I lived in Bournemouth and at the time their stadium had 3 stands. I think it was affectionally known as "The Toblerone" at the time. The two clubs are in very different positions nowadays though!
I worked last year on the business park next the ground. I couldn't believe how far out of town it is. There are plans to build a station nearby for the Science Park....too late for the club as the plans to move next to Oxford Parkway station look promising.
Still can't believe you found Joe Wilkinson at the Kassam leisureplex and got him to agree to an interview.....
It isn't him, he hasn't got his knob out.
Great video as always, but a little surprised you're not at the Euros, would have loved some of your vox pops with fans from different countries.
there’s enough CZcamsrs out there making videos already, I like the fact Nieve gives us something different to watch
Another entertaining video, thanks Nieve.
As a hockey fan that had to endure "You play in a mall," chants growing up, I assure you that you do NOT want a shopping center on the fourth side.
Oxford it self is a run down and specially where the football stadium is, it’s only the colleges in the centre of Oxford that bring the tourists it’s an expensive place to live poor roads and a council that don’t want to listen to what business owners around Oxford and want and need, too many roads shut to the traffic,it’s one big traffic jam. Where they want to move the stadium is a better area but it’s all ready a bad traffic jam
I took a detour off the M40 to take a look at the Kassam Stadium at the start of May 2006,several days before Oxford fell out of the Football League upon losing 2-3 at home to Leyton Orient amid a frantic multi-cornered last day relegation scrap as Torquay United pulled off a dramatic escape from a seemingly hopeless position just a month earlier and a batch of North West clubs like Stockport,Rochdale,Bury and Macclesfield, plus Notts County, all got themselves out of peril at the last. Rushden & Diamonds were already down, their five-year Football League adventure over.
It looked a neat little ground then, with the blue glass in the main stand building, but it had that wooden fence with a car park behind it then and I'm flabbergasted that nothing's been built there since. I thought they simply couldn't afford to build a fourth stand at the time and were relieved just to get the stadium building project finished after it sat getting rained on half built for two or three winters. It looks like years of neglect has made the place tatty and shabby.
It's near the notorious Blackbird Leys estate, scene of rioting in the early 90s. In a city where town v gown used to exist in different worlds, kept - deliberately,it appeared - apart by a vicious ring road hard to get across between the university and town centre and the five estates (Blackbird Leys the worst, then Barton by all accounts,Headington middling or better) surrounding it in different directions on the outskirts, perhaps the reason why transport links are so poor is to keep people away from there!
My only desire for a new stadium would be no open corners for wind and rain to get in. Wimbledon Centre Court roof would also be a snazzy addition. And extra space around the perimeter of the pitch for players to launch Delap-style long throws. Maybe that's enough.
Couple of other things. Maybe have a minimum seating requirement. Prem 15,000, Champ 12,500, L1, 8,000 and L2 5,000. All stadiums should be all seater with no standing only stands.
What happened to the requirement the Football League used to have for grounds to have at least 6,000 seats? The one that caused Barnet problems when they were at Underhill.
Oh dear, in Sweden we have lots of stadiums with only three stands. And then we have NP3 Arena (or Norrporten Arena) that have 3 and half stand. It gives me the chills everytime I see it.
Craven Cottage was perfect because it used to have a view of The Thames. Back in the 70's, when I first went there you could even paddle in the river at the back of the stand if/when the game got boring. Sadly, the new monstrosity of a stand - still not fully opened after two years - blocks all the view of the river. So you're stuck watching the football, no matter how bad it gets.
Wouldn't want to paddle or be in smelling distance of that river these days, mate.
I remember that, dont remember games being boring though !
I wouldn't risk getting in it but it's far cleaner than was the case 50+ years ago,to say nothing of the state of it in the middle of the 19th Century that gave rise to the episode called the Big Stink and the commissioning of the then-revolutionary Bazalguette-designed London-widesewerage system.
The sarcasm has officially become to the level of epic proportions!
Love these vids. Loved the Wigan one too! Keep it up!
What's the point of a fourth stand when the club barely sells out? It'll be interesting how much the attendances will rise though in the Championship which is crazy to imagine Oxford in there.
please make a video about the Welsh premier league teams in the qualifiers for Europe this summer. despite the success of the Welsh national team in recent years, the league is still ignored and underfunded, and it is dominated by one team (who are in England ffs)
Wow, just looked that up and you’re not kidding! Makes the SPL look competitive.
Whose ground is that stadium?
@@danabc322 yeah they went unbeaten in the league this season, although they did lose the Welsh cup final to Connah's quay.
what do you mean 'despite the success of the national team'?
Not one of those players played in the welsh league, so why do welsh teams DESERVE european spots without proving they're capable by qualifying for them?
What is the point of playing in tournaments if you're going to get slaughtered every game?
qualifiers are there for a reason.
the league is ignored and underfunded cos it's S*IT!

You commented on the smell; that would be the sewage works just opposite. You add that smell with the wind that gets tunnelled through the stadium on account of its missing stand, you've got yourself a bad time.

I'm from Oxford, this stadium is quite a shame and hopefully we can move to the Kidlington triangle stadium which has much better transport links. Hopefully it can be made even bigger if we can prove ourselves in the championship this season and stay up
I think they should build an airport where the 4th stand should be for better transport links or maybe they should just build a 4th stand 🤷♂️
The inside of that taxi looks familiar 👀
First thought lol
missed opportunity to not make it like the fourth plinth in trafalgar square in london. just have something new there every couple of years - maybe a constant rotation of giant ox statues commissioned by local artists and voted on the winning one by fans. would defiantly be a usp. not sure if this is a serious or silly suggestion yet. maybe both
It's nice that someone has actually done some research. The amount of people that comment "you're tinpot cos you've only got three stands" or "why don't you build a new stand instead of a new stadium" - well that's cos of the extortionate rent we have to pay!
I had no idea how rubbish the situation you guys were in was, until I was putting this together. Firoz Kassam has got so much to answer for! Keeping my fingers crossed for you that you can figure something out in the next couple years
@@stuntpeggnieve yeah, exactly. He ultimately saved the club from going under but then shafted us. Didn't put any money into the club in terms of players or recruitment (hence the downfall on the pitch) and charges us extortionate rent following his departure. The lack of maintenance at the stadium, too, is shocking
I love watching your videos i love this side more of football than the acutal 90mins itself. Also love the willlsooooon! with him on the window too class!
Nieve, you are a very silly person and we love it. I love the off angle views of the stadium and the understated review of it: "Eh, not too bad, but not great either".
I think for the 4th stand it should a '4th wall' where people turn to the camera and say something dramatic.
StuntPegg needs to get educated on Antfarms...........and then obviously do a video on it! Love this one - lol. Gr8 stuff
Transport links must include a roller coaster that dips down to a picture of an oxford player (Ray Houghton?) with the rollercoaster then taking the trajectory of that top corner screamer hit by said player with a goalpost the coaster travels through before doing a wheel away celebration (in a horizontal loop) then arriving into a slightly sunken spot by the stadium with pictures of famous oxford players rushing to join the completion of the knee slide celebration

As a Canadian who's local staduim is BMO field in Toronto.
A stadium needs a standing supporters section at kne end with rails (we have seats in ours but everyone just stands on them, very dangerous when its wet)
Need fan areas with space heaters for fanse to quickly warm up their hands during those baltic october or march matches.
And lastly. Beer. Ever stadium needs beer. Not in cans but on tap. And it should be reasonably priced. Football and beer go togther like penutbutter and jelly.
