Wow insane! 😍 That's literally palm planet...😁 Nice video, a bit of a shame that the camera hardly stands still and it goes from here to there so quickly... But I understand that, I am also a very big palm lover and I would also be extremely enthusiastic there...😅 I wish I could walk around there someday...🙏😍 Good lord, what beautiful & enormous palms... Many greetings from Belgium 🇧🇪 (Europe)
Yeah it's one of the best botanical and palm gardens in the world, it is truly a sanctuary of all thing exotic! It is such an amazing place and you should definitely visit sometime, I can't wait to get back! Cheers!
Thanks Sandor, it's one of the coolest places I've ever been, SOOO many palms! And massive Eucalyptus and cycads and cacti and all sorts of other exotic plants, so amazing! Thanks for watching, take care!
Thanks! Wow, I'm SO jealous! I live in the D.C. area, I was just visiting SoCal, I grow hardy palms here and have lots of videos of those as well. Yeah so many amazing palms in Southern California, definitely check out Huntington Gardens when you have a chance! Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more videos, take care!
Great tour.. I think you passed a Pritchardia species endemic to the Hawaiian Islands at about 10:28. They resemble a California fan palm but are smaller, have darker green leaves, and lack splnes. Very rare even in Hawai'i and even more uncommon off island. I think a Pondoland palm was visible near the end of you footage.
Yeah I saw several Pritchardia there, they have a number of them, they're amazing palms and yes sadly many species are endangered in their native Hawaii. I actually just went back there a few days ago and made an update video on the Palm Garden and Jungle Garden, I will put the link below, I showed both the Pritchardia and the pondoland palm in it, you are absolutely right. They're incredible species, the number of palms they have at Huntington is amazing. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more videos, take care!
I was sad whem you moved away from the sabal jungle, i was interested to learn the species of that skinny one.. otherwise, AMAZING footage!!! that is palm and cycad heaven right there
Sorry about that, I went back there later and I don’t think they had any labels, there were some other huge Sabals including a massive mexicana. I think those thin-trunk Sabals were Sabal yapa from Mexico. Such an amazing place, I missed many palms on the tour, there are just so many. Thanks for watching, take care!
@@palmplanet wow thanks amazing, thanks for the info! I’m going to research about this “yapa” species and see if they can grow here! Probably not… but we will see!!! Also I ordered a sabal causiarum that’s supposed to come tomorrow!
@@gasubtropics Yes, it is a very interesting Sabal species. It is a tropical Sabal from the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, as well as Cuba. There is very little information on it online and its hardiness because it is so rare, you might have a hard time getting your hands on one, but definitely worth a search. All Sabal species are pretty hardy, my guess is it is hardy to zone 8b, so it could probably make it where you are, if you can find one I would definitely give it a shot! Thanks and take care!
This is so beautiful I’ve never seen such palms that big before especially that European fan palm I’ve never seen them that huge before I have question when you said that the nikau palm is cold hardy cold it survive in zone 8a 🤔
Yes Huntington Gardens is truly incredible, if you’re ever in Southern California you have to check it out. No unfortunately I think the nikau palm is more of a zone 9+ species, but I am no expect on them. Thanks for watching!

@@walker1662 Cheers, enjoy sunny SoCal!
Since you asked, the plant at 1:15 is called Cordyline Australis, a New Zealand native.
Ah thank you so much! Yes I love Cordyline but I didn’t know that was one. Thanks!

Fishtail palms can grow very fast, but they die after blooming. Normally there are suckers around the base which will keep the clump going.
Yes exactly right. Very interesting, thanks for sharing, they’re gorgeous palms.
what hardiness zone were you in?
Zone 10a, perfect for growing all sorts of tropicals. Thanks for watching!
