- Okay so after a series of city driving videos published by users across the world I decided to try this one for its size. First experiment, audio isn't that great, but I'll tweak this and every other setting as soon as I can.
Luanda, capital of Angola, a city that depends heavily on crude oil and diamonds. But this isn't what I came here to show you. I want you guys to see this place the international media has lots of wrong perceptions about, due mainly to lack of proper inside sources.
Nice and beautiful city. I am a Liberian watching this your video from Minnesota USA I love it!
Thank you for showing My country
I’m so proud. This my homeland. Angola 🇦🇴
Love you
Macuela René am proud Angolan too♥️
Do you think Angola and Mozambique should merge to Portugal again ? You guys can have EU citizenship and better welfare.

Thank you for posting this trip around the city. I had no idea the city was this big. A lot has changed since December 1969, when the U.S. Navy ship on which I was serving entered Luanda Bay. I was awestruck by the beauty of the massive harbor, including the skyline and Ilha off to the south from where we docked.
Luanda was surrounded with barbed wire. The welcoming party on the pier for us consisted of two dozen Portuguese commandos, wearing red berets and jungle combat fatigues, standing in front of their machine gun-mounted jeeps. . Like most of my shipmates, we had no idea what was going on. .. It was truly a shock, arriving at the pier after taking in the beauty out in the bay.
Again, thanks for the trip around the city. We only made it around a small area close to where our ship was docked.
Hi Pete! I bet your commanding officer said something about you guys docking here to spread some freedom and to prevent the spread of reds :-D
I’m glad you enjoyed the video. During university, I had an American lecturer who had also served in the US navy in the sixties. He lives in Namibia now and his name is Don Stevenson.
Enjoy and thanks for subbing, Pete!
Very nice city, proud of Africa ! From Antananarivo, Madagascar
Saudações do Brasil! 🇧🇷

Thank you! At 21:49 you took me past the bakery (now pink) where (as a child) I used to go to pick up bread every morning in the early 1950s. Had you turned left there, you would have gone past where I lived back then. Great memories.
Lindo país irmão 🇧🇷🇦🇴 Abraços do Brasil!

Hi! Can I use your video for my channel? I will mention you in the video
Damn! Where did all that oil money go? They sure didn’t spend it on Luanda. Check properties in Dubai, Europe and fat Swiss bank accounts.
They used most of it to bail Portigal out of the financial mess she was in not too long ago.
Abriham Abe sad! With a relatively small population, they could have improved the lives of the people a lot.
Angola was in civil war for 25 years ( the longest on the continent) .The great part of oil money went to buying weapons.
Linda capital de Angola ♡
Hello Friend.
I am writing to you because I have the opportunity to come to Angola under a contract to work. I have concerns because this country is being shown very negatively: it is dangerous, very expensive, accommodation is very expensive, communication, roads in a catastrophic state, problems with infectious diseases, etc.
From what I see in your film is not so, it looks pretty positive ...
Tell me please, do I have anything to fear in Angola? Can a foreigner with knowledge of English, German, Russian be able to communicate with the natives for 6-8 weeks?
Unfortunately, I do not know yet which city should I be or where to live, a hotel or a private flat.
Is it true that a hotel room costs $ 500 a night ??? and dinner at a $ 50 restaurant?
Please, dispel my doubts and fears, after watching your movie I have a desire to visit Angola.
Greetings from Poland
safer then Johannesburg, lots of foreigners working there, use good common sense.

Angola is pretty better than South Africa, we get jobs, earn good salaries, we don’t care What people say, but Angola is the best place to live, fun and happy people, we got problems as any country. Africa has Amazing places, as CapeTown, Windoek, Abidjan, Accra, and so on.
It's like in Brazil, but only More secure.
@@macuelarene3406 nada.

Talvez as menores.

My motherland. Terra da minha maê.
Luanda is a perfect example when the rule of law (with respect to traffic) is thrown out the door. I live in the US and have been to Luanda this year and last. Traffic lights (if they work) are completely ignored. Cars nearly hit pedestrians routinely.
Edson SR, what do you mean by international media has lots of wrong perceptions?
Laws aren't thrown out the door, Scott, and even though you visited here, there will sadly be no way of knowing for sure how much better the indicators look, especially as I have been studying the evolution of traffic and driving tendencies here since at least 2001 and using this data to create an advanced driving course. Comparing Luanda to the USA is ludicrous to say the least, and nothing that could be compiled into a YT comment. Maybe next time you're here, I'll show you data over pizza and beers to help clarify things. The media does their job, misleading everyone or misinforming. Aren't you tired of reading the same recycled "war corruption aids poverty, $1 a day, no water, no nothing" thing? I'm open for discussion whenever I'm free.
Yes, I like what I see. It's just that I wish what I see were much better.
bom video

Is it open to tourists? Is it safe?
shalic graw yes it's safe . Just like any major city , it has his good and bad area.
It's like in Brazil, but only More secure.
The Lord Himself knows in my heart I'd like to post something more complimentary, but I would be insincere if I did not say that what I see is a somewhat rundown Luanda. I do not see that upscale look I see of Abuja, Nigeria, for starters. Rwanda is also lovely. So although I wish Angola the best as it moves into modernity, it could do better with the physical appearance of some parts of its cities.
Jay Young yes there are depressing places more luanda is very beautiful
@Sal DiMarchese Thanks. I'll go back and take a second look.
Lool he is showing only a part of Luanda, we have amazing skyscrapers, buildings, tourist hotels, restaurants and bars. For a tiny city we are doing great. No need to compare to other countries or cities that don't look amazing themselves ie Abuja Nigeria
