His obsession and love for Xiaoyao is dangerous. All it's done is hurt her and hurt him even more. He will always be Xiaoyao's friend. He will always be Xiaoyao's brother. There is nothing wrong with having feelings for someone. There is nothing wrong with having feelings for a friend. But Cang Xuan took things way too far. This scene just proves how selfish and obsessed he is with Xiaoyao. His, love or obsession with her is driving him insane. If Grandpa and the guards didn't show up, who knows what would have happened.
In the novel, it’s explained that he didn’t do it solely out of jealously but that he didn’t think Tushan could protect her. It’s why he was willing to let her marry Fenglong.
