Can this be done at home and transported via a decent sized SUV to the event venue?
Yes! I would recommend adding the smallest balloons with glue dots once you get there incase the garland takes on a different shape. Or you can just bring extra balloons to add.

Yes I'm grateful that your video is the first one that I saw, because the next one was so intense with balloons in pairs and clusters, I couldn't believe the difference! Your explanation and finished product is so simple and beautiful, and uses far less balloons than what some other designs would use, that I think I can do several areas with this as a pretty background instead of just one big balloon arch! You got this! The balloon strip is the way to go for beginners for sure! It allows you to just "wing it" and you really can't make an ugly garland using one.

Right!?!? I mean good for them, but I can't afford those prices. My video is more for people that throw parties on a budget lol
The difference is that with these, if bumped or something is not placed right, they will fall right out.
The professionals have literally mastered their craft so that they withstand just about anything... it's the years of experience they have put into their craft that you are paying for and know that your decoration will not fall over with the slightest push or bump... etc...
I know because I want to do it professionally and have done dozens of family events literally for free because I'm still learning. But it really takes its time and knowledge on what works and what doesn't, how to position something so it doesn't get knocked over quickly and what tricks to use for the balloons to last a good time and look amazing the entire night.
These balloon videos are ok for those wanting to save money just like she mentioned, because I've done it myself (& and literally how I started to get into it)... but just like there are videos on how to change a tire or do an oil change, not everyone will want to do their own but we don't complain for how much the mechanic will charge us to do the work for us.
Both different spectrums of work, but both sides take their time to learn how to do things properly in their own field of expertise.
Just wanted to share because we tend to complain, but sometimes we don't think about the amount of work it takes to do something. Even my cousin admitted to finally getting why these balloon people charge so much after she saw how much work I had put into her party.

Thank you , doing my husbands 60th surprise bday party next sunday at our club house, ive bought everything just wanted to ses someone do it with the plastic arch an glue dotsz also so glad I didnt waste money on a helium tank $48 at sams bought a balloon air filler on amazon that now we can reuse for granddaughters etcc....for $16 .
