I think his design is more unique in x and also his voice was better in x(both of them have same voice actor actually 🤔).
I like this design and voice more and I like that they showed his face. But mkx had that shirtless skin, so I’m conflicted
I believe this is supposed to be a younger version of Erron Black. Before the events of MKX, he was beaten to a pulp by a shokan so I think that's what they reference in his MKX intros.

Did everyone forget Erron Black lore? He wasn't just a cowboy mercenary! He wasn't even a Black Dragon member cuz he killed one.
He was a real deal cowboy that had been recruited by Shang Tsung and turned into an immortal cowboy. He was one of Shang Tsung's bodyguard and personal assassin alongside Reptile, he even killed a former Earthrealm champion the one before Liu Kang's predecessor. And the dev just forgot that and wrote him as a generic goon.
I mean... At least give him a banter between him and Shang Tsung about his time as Shang Tsung's bodyguard. Or something about his past.

I feel like they really went all out with the “Western Gunslinger” thing with Erron Black. It was there in MKX, but was more stoic in that game than how he was in this one.
