Pointing it out though, wow, a whole portion of Zilla’s foot flipping through a building-that’s a big error lol. I guess when the scene plays out it’s fast enough that your eye wouldn’t be looking in that specific area of the frame but it’s interesting to see for sure

It’s not an error but a technical decision/ compromise to get the shot done within schedule instead of sending it back to Animation to fix the walking, which was already perfect, or to Assets, Layout, and FX to add damages to that building. They got it done convincingly enough that no one mentioned it until 25 years later.👍🏼
this. ALL VFX are made on a budget. time = money. We people working in this industry, unlike hobbyists and enthusiasts, can't iterate and noodle endlessly over scenes - as much as we want to do that sometimes. If the people footing the bill say it's done, it's done. It was like that when I started in the early 80s and it hasn't changed.

The Dock scene with the fisherman and this Foot scene are probably two of the best from the entire movie 😅 The sound fx and acting were pretty fair lol I loved this movie as a kid

I was born in 1994, and I was absolutely obsess with this movie as a kid. I would rewatch it multiple times a day, to the point where one day I watched it so many times that the vhs got hot and totally ruined the vhs. I remember balling because my movie was ruined so my mom ran out and got me another one. Looking back now I realize how bad this movie is but when I was a kid there was no telling me that, your imagination as a kid is so wild and the fact that there was this huge creature just trashing a city I thought it was the greatest movie ever. But my love for Godzilla has carried now into my adult hood. Anytime I see a new Godzilla movie is coming out I get super excited.
The only Godzilla to come close to this one is the 2014 Godzilla. They made Godzilla seem so scientifically possible and real in this one, and the actors are amazing.
The movie released in 99 must be in production at least 2-3 before and if 99% or audiance doesn't noticed these things in theater I feel this a good work. My self has seen in cinema twice honesty I had fun.
This Movie got me into our favorite giant anti-heroic force of nature lizard boi. Me personally, i don't really care about the VFX (i only care when it's as bad as a high school VFX movie). This Movie was good in my opinion. It's the biased fanbase who don't know what a true Godzilla fan is. True Godzilla fans should respect every Godzilla, no matter their defects.

I thought it was because the whole building was reflective at first but then I saw it. That toe would have knocked part of the wall off the building.
