San Bernardino was an illegal slave colony . Enslavers would bring slaves to the state. California enforced the fugitive slave act and there was an amendment called the sunset clause that allowed them to have slaves for a year.

Anyone who was a slave should get reparations. Everyone who owned a slave should pay them. Everyone else should shut up about it already.
I’m black in Cali and am very confused. No progress on homelessness, crime (or even sentencing), affordable housing, union negotiations w state/county employers….but this? Not saying I’m against reparations. Just don’t even have the bandwidth to look at this right now. Very tone deaf to what we’re all dealing with here.

I agree with you. Its a very bad policy. Many different people were oppressed historically in america. Handing out money to any citizen that has histortlyy never had any will certainly become inflationary and only anger a different group that didnt get any. A better idea would be to help support any person of any race get back on thier feet and functioning in our society again and wealth will come to all. As we saw with the pandemic cheques free money doesnt solve our problems it only gives birth to new ones.

Still waiting on the “telling the truth part”. I concur that this makes no sense on the state level and I’d like to see more common sense issues addressed first.
@@TrueOrigins1618 I am not aware of any groups receiving such payments and if they did it clearly didn't fix the country. Secondly the best investment a government can make in a population is expanding their skill set and knowledge of fundamental capitalism so they can prosper. Handing out money to group that does not have those skills will simply cause more inflation. We just did that experiment remember? Also many Americans that are alive now did not participate in slavery at all and now your asking them to pay. This will clearly not work and cause a plethora of new issues that I will be quite happy to exploit for my own gain. But hey you got to read it here first before it happens so that's kind of nice.
@@Clamps-nn2pz, briefly… the Japanese, Chinese, Native Americans. They didn’t get all of what they deserved but they got something. Unlike African Americans who constantly had their property stolen but federal, state and local governments. As well as white mobs. It goes beyond slavery. Hundreds of thousands of those families who built themselves up were never compensated.

I didn't know slavery was a major issue in California. What about their counterparts living in the rest of USA? Let's consider this also, not only the black community has suffered the consequences of slavery, racism, discrimination, bigotry, etc. What about other races/cultures such as the native Americans, for instance?

From my own experience, my wife who is white suffered descrimination because she had a chronic illness. Who owns the large Corp? white from back east.

I'm 67 Blk female a Oakland native. Both of my parents were from Louisiana. I have a photo of my dads grandma. Harriet Butler who was 100 in 1954. These folks were in Campti Louisiana. I understand her parents were Slaves. My Daddy folks look like they were captured and taken straight to the plantation..I'm dark and strong. My Mother family had folks who passed for White.lol. I would appreciate 250 grand...can't buy a home in California but it would help.

Why would white indentured servants get anything when at the end of their indenture they were compensated with land, crops, and a mule? Not to mention the part where they themselves integrated into society and either rented slaves or became slave owners 🤷♂️

The Indian Ocean slave trade started in 2500 BC.
The Trans Saharan slave trade started in the 7 century, and although small and discreet, continues on this very day.
The Trans Atlantic slave trade was operational from the 16th to the 19th century, with over 90% of the slaves ending up in the Caribbean and south America. An estimated 6% ended up in north America. All of whom were originally gathered, then sold, (predominantly to the Portuguese) by the ancestors of African Americans. FACT! So, who is responsible for slavery? The Trans Atlantic slave trade would not have existed if not for the ancestors of African Americans putting their surviving slaves up for sale!

FBAs are a special people to their land called Turtle Island (but now called u.s.a) and who still are despised by the foreign groups you noted (a group FBAs supported when white european supremacists were targeting when they arrived to the u.s. thanks to FBAs for making even that possible more so in the 60's and 70's, although those groups now became subdued by white supremacists while FBAs remain fighters toward them) even by its own government but I noticed you didn't mentioned white europeans in the group. Californians can't afford to rent an apartment or buy a home, yet alone keep the one they have. Fuel costs are over $7.00 per gallon. Crime is so bad that retailers are closing neighborhood stores. The homeless population and retired poor take up all the sidewalk space or live in personal vehicles. Local city and state pensions remain underfunded. Etc., etc.... and this is what the state comes up with as a priority?!? I have to ask, where did all the extra monies come from??? Seriously, who's paying for this one? And... what's next, reparations for families of early Mexican, Spanish, and French settlers? OK, OK, but seriously, I think it's time for some DNA testing.
