Never seen a Poet like her...what a performance. I used to think Poem is a boring thing, until she brings it to life and expressive and make it connected to the current living.
Love this girl. She is terrific. Poetry is no longer a dying art. After that beautiful inaugural performance, I bet she has already ignited the interest and imagination of many to read and write poetry.
I can’t imagine all the kids she inspired and grown ppl like me, The everyday girl, with dreams, hard work, overcoming speech impediment she’s an artist, so talented... her delivery of words and passion stole the inauguration. I always wanted to be a writer/poet I wish I got to see her at a young age respect ✊

If she is joining the orchestra at the July 4th celebration in D.C. then this will be the highlight of the celebration. This poem should speak to the hearts of ALL AMERICANS.

I just listened to this young woman present the inaugural poem and I am in tears. What an amazing and heartfelt presentation! I feel lucky to have heard that poem.
Amanda was chosen long time before all, to speak truth, to speak wisdom and love for all, to unite now with all might in the one spirit ,again, as the Fathers thought right. A black skinny girl born of slavery to bring all a new freedom of spirit, a lifting from white hate and fear to allow to break through incrusted dominion . The gift of dwelling in her words at this time, when we witnessed rebellion, that broke out to distroy the call of freedom and liberty of 245 and many years, we see the truth that only love one another will challenge all old and rusty upbringing. Amanda has sowed a seed in all as did the Fathers when chosing the words for this countries constitution, she - touches those words of the Fathers and makes them shine and glimmer and glow in our hearts and make them fly . Nothing is finished, this the beginning, of a new challenge to dismantle what thrives on inegality and hatred and killing.
I’m shocked at how GONE her speech issue is!?!? My 11yr old also struggles with the “R”....and I went through and listened to Amanda’s old poems to her new and the change in how she can use the R is amazing. I wish she would share what her therapist did or what SHE did if she did it on her own

The way she conducts her moves along with the words, give wings to her poems and reach us all graciously. She wears her body as a free road of meaningful feelings; collective experiences that give us a place in her voice - which is our voice at that very moment as well - and place us, as Americans, in the top of an invisible podium in which we feel winners, already! For it's not just in a declaration of independence But the everyday declaration of its descendants That make a people equal. It is our right and our role To remember these words scratched on a scroll, So we may live them and heal our nation whole. We roll up our sleeves, we believe in the dream, And these American stories, in the glory of the struggle, For it is from our struggle that comes our nation's strength, For the lengths that we fight for what is right Is the fullest measure of our country's might. She said she listened to the fellow in the play Hamilton. He had a song with a lot of “r’s”. She practiced his song a lot.
