  • I'm going to document the swap to Creative Steel's 8.8 center section and heavy duty axles in my 2005 Cadillac CTSV. In the video I talk a little about the car, do some burnouts, run it through the gears and demonstrate how bad the wheel hop can get.

The diff bushing was bad but the housing around the bushing was cracked. I replaced the factory diff with the Creative Steel 8.8 swap and couldn't be happier. It fits perfectly and got rid of the slop. I made a video of the process that I hope to post soon.

I am looking at buying a gen 1 ctsv. That was super helpful, now knowing what that looks like!!!! THANK YOU for documenting that!

That rocking up and down is what mine has been doing for a while, the bushing is destroyed. I've had the Creative Steel bushing and diff block for over a year but haven't got around to installing them.

my cts dose the axle dance , under hard exceleration , i found the best way to eliminate that problem is not to drive from a dig under hard exceloration , or i could buy a 4 link rear end set up , one piece drive shaft , and a stronger rear end , $$$$ , just say n , just like dirty hary said , a man has got to know his limitations .....

Hi, just bought a 05’ V. What mods/ upgrades should I install to prevent damaging my diff and axles? I am not planning on doing clutch dumps, but I do plan on doing some drag racing on street tires (it’ll be my daily).

As far as I’m aware there’s almost nothing to do without dumping major cash. I can only say that if you drive smoothly I bet it’ll last.

Mike Eyecanfixthat Eyler that is my biggest fear launching my CTS-V that the rear diff will break. I always go lite on the gas when I launch it. Been wanting to get the Creative Steel's 8.8 kit for years but can't afford it.

It wasn't inexpensive but it's very nice. I've had my car since new and it has 91,000 miles on it. I really want to take it to the track and not have to worry about breaking it there. Stay tuned, I have more vids coming of the swap. Thanks for the comment!

Check out the GEN1V diff braces, there's 2 versions that add a second mount like the Ford 8.8 that keeps the diff from trying to twist under load.

Do these cars handle well? Or do they just handle well for a sedan.

They handle like they are on train track rails just super good handling untill you break tracktion as soon as you break traction it’s like it’s on ice the back end spins around super quick. It handles super well just doesn’t drift😂

On the figure 8 it was half a second slower than a Lamborghini gallardo. They handle very well, you’ll just find coupes handle better. Personally I’m looking at these as more of a fun daily(not doing anything crazy and never planned on tracking it). But the interior is pretty quiet and it makes good power.

They pull a g laterally with decent tires.
