Nobody shies away from speaking Punjabi here. We haven't imposed any national language like you have done with Urdu.
They speak Hindi NOT because they feel Punjabi is inferior or something, it's just that these actors work in the Hindi Film industry, thus speak Hindi most of the time in interviews, promotions, etc.
And we love all our languages by heart whether it be Punjabi, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil or any of the1000 others

Punjabi is language of everyone, Hindu, Sikh, Muslim . Punjabi and Punjab culture stays in our genes for generations. I respect all the cultures and languages. In India we lost Sindhi, Pothohari, Sialkoti , and many other sweet dialects.
Balraj Sahni and Aanad Bakhshi were from Rawalpindi, which is the capital of Potohar region. And Potohari dilect is too attractive like its region. All mountainous and hilly.

Tight slap to all the people who say Punjabi Hindus don't speak Punjabi. Almost all of the actors in this video are Punjabi Hindus. We obviously created this language and speak it. We just have common sense when to speak it and when to not because like many other people we also know Hindi and sometimes English. No one here is going to speak Punjabi to and English person and insist on keep talking when the other party doesn't know what is being said. That's common sense. They are in a Hindi/Urdu industry and will speak accordingly. Even Diljit and Sunny bhaji does it. Check any behind the scenes all these people are caught speaking Punjabi with their family or other Punjabi's on set. Knowing more than one language is a good thing, but that doesn't mean we don't know or don't speak our maa boli. We absolutely do.

@@ala7515 dadasaheb made first non voice film in Bombay in 1913 before independence,although there were films in Bombay since 1890 like lumeire and Robert paul moving pictures, although modern film industry was started after 1947,also the word bollywood came in 1970 s , dadasaheb made one film somewhere in Bombay but he didn't started the film industry.

Because the Punjabi that they are speaking is a more basic version, Punjabi has many dialects and many accents that are used across the state, if you go to a village in Punjab, you will probably have a very hard time comprehending what they are saying.

But the thing is bollywood itself has created some really bad stereotypes and Sikhs. Whether it is about drug abuse or about intellect. @@vihaansethi5140 technically if you go by greater Punjab region yes most of dialects would be non comprehensible for Hindi speakers, In North west it would be Potahari and Hindko dialects, in South West it's Multani and Seraki and in North and east it's Dogri and Kangri-Bilaspuri which would go above the head of Hindi and to some extent even some basic modern Punjabi dialect speakers like Majhi, Malwai, Doabi and Puadhi (even their pure version would be incomprehensible for Hindi speakers). Punjabi is a very diverse langauge forming a dialect continuum.
