  • Them 909 Moopi 2022 Review - Rollerblading
    Everything you SHOULD know before you buy a Them 909. I skated them for the last 2 weeks + on all kinds of obstacles, finding out all the pros and cons. I compare them to the original Them 908 and tell you what is better, Them 909 vs Them 908. This video will give you confidence in your choice to buy or not buy these skates.
    Them Skates is an aggressive rollerblading company that was started by Jon Julio in 2018. It is an independently run and skater-owned company doing a lot of great things for rollerblading. The Them 909 skate is their skate 100% designed by Them. Everything from the buckle to the wheels is made by Them Skates. The Moopi skate features the new Them 3.0 Soulplate which is slightly wider, but is it any better? Watch to find out.

    I've been skating my Mooopi's for a couple months now. Was able to skate the wheels until they needed to be replaced and didn't run into any clacking. I DID lose one of the cuff bolts but replaced them with a new black set off roller warehouse which looks better than the brushed metal anyways. Also I stripped out the head on one of the frame bolts because I didn't realize that the allen wrench size was slightly larger than literally every other piece of inline gear I own, so be sure to use the wrench they give you. 28cm foot crew unite, my mediums also fit perfectly.

      I have since started encountering issues with the wheels. Not clacking per se but in some cases the bearing will just fall out of the wheel when I take them out. Reading what others have posted here kind of confirms my suspicion it has to do with the axle as you can wiggle the wheel laterally on the axle, even when they're tightened down. Someone in the comments suggested filing the axle down which I think I will try.

    • @dansteinke5016
      @dansteinke5016 Před 2 lety

      Also the Allen wrench is the same size as every other Allen wrench, I was incorrect about that. These bolts are just REALLY EASY to strip if your tool isn't seated all the way

    That clacking sound is typically a frame or bearing issue. Bearings with poor tolerances or frames and axles that don't clamp down rhe wheels and spacers tightly.

    For me the 908 boot is perfect, and the 909 is a little too long and wide. I skate the small Them V4 liners in the small 908. I tried the 8-8.5 Beer liners in the 908, they made my feet ache, and made the skate feel more sloppy due to the low volume of the intuition liner. I just got a pair of Them frames, I'm excited to try them out, I'll be skating them anti.
