Taxes of 57%! I wish that they would stop quoting this erroneous percentage! Most people's taxes are around 25 to 30 percent. Some a little more, some less according to their income.
The Helsinki region also known as Greater Helsinki is way over a million by now. It is one city (Helsinki) and two large towns (Espoo&Vantaa) in a one big apprx.50x40 km cluster plus the smaller towns around like Klaukkala, Lohja, Kirkkonummi, Järvenpää, Kerava, Sipoo and almost Porvoo in the east.. It is not pscked tight yet but it sure is one huge area of population, business, traffic etc.
And by the way Saami is not a religion but an ethnic group and it is not like they are eskimos or something.. It is by this day pretty well mixed with the rest with some German in the sauce(WWII) since a 200K strong German force spent around four summers in there.. :D
NATO / free defense - Finns spend 2.41% of GDP in 2024 in defense, so not really free. But otherwise a good video & there are many points that I think contribute to happiness.
i lost my trust when i sent my hospital bill to government it was almost 100 euros i didnt get any treatment.... then later i got letter they aint gonna pay it..... well i couldnt do anything about it..... then i went to interwebs and there it said we will give you money pay it yourself. but at that point the debt had alreaady increased
There are a few key points wrong in this video, most importantly: Finland was importing only a miniscule amount of gas from Russia. Yes, most of Finland's gas came from Russia, but unlike many other countries Finland doesn't use almost any gas, so it is very misleading statistic. He is mixing up winter war and the continuation war into one thing, also forgetting to mention the civil war. Also the reason for the upscaling of technplogy and industrialization of the nation during the cold war, were the war reparations Finland needed to pay to Russia. Finland does not have a housing crisis, at all, quite the opposite, the values of apartments are dropping not rising. What free defense from Nato?! Finland is one of the best defended countries in the World, and fully self-funded and operated. It is Nato who was getting their Northern border with Russia secured by Finland The video gets a lot right (usually these sort of videos are mostly wrong), but the above things are wrong in the video
