No one makes any money off of THAT!
I think it's related to the abuse he suffered at the hands of men.
He hates himself?
Nope
No 👎
I just don't like how he put men down so much. Give us more movies where a black man is winning.
That’s been his shtick for the longest. Smh
Idris won and Shamar won in his movies. He does a mix.
After Daddy's little girls.. that was it
Why do 👨🏿bash 👩🏿 all day..then cry about our public image...do you even take up for 👩🏿 or just care about 👨🏿 image...imo 👨🏿 we are getting karma for our failure as a group of men for not building, providing for, protecting, and
maintaining our communities...then have the nerve to cry all over social media..🤦🏾🤦🏾🤦🏾🤦🏾
How about you tell the wht folks to have the blk men winning in their movies. Have a cast that predominantly black, and have those cast members be paid the most they have allegedly been paid in their careers. Oh, that's right, that don't happen with them other folks. You always count on N-words, to be N-words!
I once heard a Hollywood executive say that Tyler Perry has the one thing that every filmmaker wants - a loyal audience. As with any film, some will like it some won't. That's actually how it is with any artwork, film, TV show, song, book, etc.
Obviously
His following is the equivalent of MAGA
Sure, but one would assume that most filmmakers would want to make decent art for their audience, and respect them enough to accept it. Tyler purposely writes trash and doesn't respect his audience enough to even THINK that they may like something else.
@@izzo2998 but his audience is too low brow and devoid of cognitive thinking to know any better, let alone demand it
@izzo2998 Trump said he loved the poorly educated. Tyler does too
There is enough room in this world for T. Perry's work and anyone else's.
As consumers, we have choices. You are free to watch what you want, and others have the same freedom to watch what they want!
Theres also room for criticism.

@deed2157 I keep saying I'm being to think he didn't write Family that Preys because it's so much better than most of the other films! Like leaps and bounds better. This divorce movie has the worst beginning of any movie I've ever scene so there's no coming back from that.

They were not great. He needs to hire better writers. The story line was lacking and quite predictable for one of his films.
They weren’t great but glad to see them all working together and winning
He’s been cooking the same mess for decades. Sex, divorce, cheating, abuse etc.
I actually enjoyed the movie! it was great. I think that he's doing the right thing by ignoring the negative commentary. It doesn't matter what the naysayers think or say as long as his loyal fanbase enjoys them! Those who don't like his films, should just stop watching. 🤷🏽♀

It's the same type movie
This actually is better than a lot of his other movies. I prefer his plays.
Some people are still fans of the actors in the movies. But damn a group of HS kids could’ve developed a better script than this.
I agree. Just don’t watch it! PERIODT!
The pastor from this film is actually the best character T.P. has ever written.
The Pastor made no sense berating the deceased man at his funeral. Pastors are more professional he knows a family is mourning all he had to do was pray for the mans soul not cause a scene. That was so overdramatic and unrealistic. But aside from that yes I did like her father. He was a solid character.

Facts
Responding to non fans is just like thanking your haters. Why give time and space to negativity.
Because you can be positive all the time or else positivity wouldn't serve a purpose. It needs negativity to have meaning, so you should make time for it every now and then. It's expected of you.
@terranceirby947 I understand having balance and the growth that can come from that but I don't think a person needs to acknowledge negativity and give it a spotlight. Tyler chose to acknowledge his supporters instead of those negative comments. He can still take on the critiques personally but I'm glad he didn't respond to them publicly.
He should because in this case his "non fans" are actually his supporters. We want him to win and do better. We are not against him we are just disappointed. By addressing it he will give us a reason to even entertain his next project.
@Stanley-k7u interesting take, but I disagree to certain extent. The "non fans" that are actually his "supporters" that offer constructive criticism should not expect to be acknowledged if all they want is for him to do better. They should be hopeful that he does take in into consideration and apply it to later projects.
I would find it very difficult to acknowledge someone as an actual supporter if they tweeted/posted that I need to be stopped. That's not supportive, that's purposely being a jerk just for the sake of social media clout.
The post that Tatyana posted was constructive and helpful. So hopefully he takes a post like that into consideration.
I want him to KEEP winning.
@@zandersorc I really think, for the most part, people are just disappointed. We as black people want to support a black man in anything that he does, and we have. But that leads to even more of a reaction/ resentment when we feel betrayed in his depictions of us.
He should ignore the hate. You can't please everyone. When you present all good we say it's not realistic. When you present all bad we say it is stereotypical and shows us in a negativity way. No one wants to see the bad. We'd rather pretend that it doesn't exist. This movie had some of the best acting of all of his movies and I thought it was better than average of his movies. I would have liked to have seen maybe flashbacks of Dallas's childhood and young adult life to better understand his relationship with his mother and his earlier relationship with his wife. I thought Corey Hardrict did a great job.

It’s just as simple as that 😊
The issue with TPs movies is that the characters are always one dimensional. No layers. The spouses are just mean for no reason and as an audience member it’s hard to connect with. In real life, there are ebs and flows in relationships but TP just shows the character in one personality which is unrealistic. Hell, even IKE and Tina had some good moments with one another on screen, between the slaps 🤷🏽♀️
lol! But His business model is a recyclable stock library of characters with similar properties and characteristics . His audience is a part of the algorithm and an overhaul of the entire formula will turn off his audience and turn his business upside down. Errrbody knows what his movies are about but yet folk stay writing long ass essays on how its all bad. It is so hellacious that folk commenting draw attention to it and he makes bank ( rightfully so ) . He has given Meagan good the same weave as Kelly Rowland early this so clearly it ought to be visible feature written in all the contracts.
@Mrs_Keys you articulated my feelings perfectly 👏🏾
DV is a reoccurring theme because it is Tyler Perry’s lived experience. Often creatives are guided by what they “know”. Let’s also not make light of the fact that sadly DV is to this day an issue. If you live a more idyllic lifestyle then of course you cannot relate. I sadly can relate because I grew up in a home with DV. I enjoyed this film from Tyler Perry. It was so real and deep. It shows that if a man is not healed from past traumas it will carry over into adulthood and relationships. What I enjoyed about the character of Meagan Good was a woman like many BW who remains in a relationship to change a man or situation when they have no control over it, and is well aware of the background of the family because you're not just marrying the person, you're also marrying the family, and that goes for both genders. If the haters don’t like his films they can stick with simple Hollywood no one forcing them to watch his films they choose to watch knowing how his films are
You’re his target audience who doesn’t understand video imagery and the effects it has on younger groups to believe in negative stereotypes.
honestly I didn't understand the plot. the opening scene promised some MESS but it was boring to me and the plot was kind of dumb
Don’t worry about the haters. Take all type of people make the world go around good in the bad
ATP, I could care less. Why complain about his movies if you’re going to keep watching them. He has no reason to stop.
If you don’t like Tyler Perry movies then *STOP WATCHING IT* lmao the community has had this same conversation over and over for the last 20 years.
Well... I'm about to check it out RIGHT NOW as a type! I didn't know it came out on prime... soooo .... wish me luck! ... I'll be back with my commentary soon!..
I am fixin to watch it too . My nana came to visit . perfect opportunity. Cake , tea and TP
@PHlophe Hey Nana! Yes, I agree! 🔥🔥 lol. And don't forget your popcorn. The movie might actually be good lol. People can be harsh graders sometimes. I'm actually going in with an open mind because with these actors he got, it can't be much of a miss.
The script is horrible along with the premise of this movie. It’s all over the place trying to find its own way but fails miserably. This movie also suffers from his cookie cutter blueprint.
I loved the movie! ❤️Looking for a strong black male, what about her Dad, her best friend’s husband, her childhood friend, the men in the church!!!!? All good Black men! Like every other race we have cruddy Black men/women too. Everyone has good and bad! But it’s a movie about ‘Divorce’ as a BW who managed in the court system watching this everyday, there is Rarely a hero in the scenario. The Heroes are the Black Men/Women who are NOT divorced and make good choices when selecting a spouse!!! BTW - White Divorce is just as Ugly but that would call for an all white ‘cast’ . We need to heal our own and we do that by facing the truth and doing better. If we HEAL our men, we heal the family, if we heal the family, we heal the race! See the Bigger picture! She said in the movie, she was tired of living in the RED, she was ready to be in the Black. Thus the name of the movie Divorce in the Black. Being in the Red is a financial term which means in the ‘negative’. SHE WORKED IN A BANK.
Tyler Perry does not go home with any of those people. He should not care what they say. They’re are critics everywhere even in your house.😮
Tyler knows how to get a reaction out of people
Debra, people are just gisting . but he keep making bank sha.
Two things can be true at the same time. Horrible writing ⚖️ being paid well 🤷🏾♂️
Most people that critique Tyler movies are not watching the movie ,, they watching themselves in the mirror!!!
Tyler doesn’t have to change because he has a big following. He knows his audience and what they like. His movies aren’t made for everybody to like. If you don’t like Tyler Perry, you don’t have to watch his films💯
I stopped watching Perry movies years ago and was officially done with him with that tv show Sistahs.
Stay mad!😂😂Sistahs is still going strong.
I watched 5 min clip of Sistahs a year ago...and it was the worst thing I've seen😂 My nephew 8th grade production of "Hamlet" was better than that s***😂
The spinoff Bruh might be even worse. The original House of Payne and Meet The Browns was his best TV shows
He has two speeds:
Comedy
Black women struggle
Don’t expect steak from a pastry chef . Let him cook. Choose where u eat wisely.
If few black men watch his content because it’s not appealing, leave it. He has a target audience. Continue to stand strong in your masculine frame.
Hell yeah! His imagination sucks! Keeps feeding us that same BS smdh ….its so weird cuz a black man has full control and this is what he keeps coming up with? Give me a good plot twist funny type feel good type of thing for a change. Hire some writers and do it black. It’s some good stories out there that can be so Inspiring and unforgettable. Does he have any classics? 🤔
@@j.roberts2230it's the same damn predictable outcomes over and over again 😂
The problem is our sisters daughters become adults and teach their children this same nonsense. TP is just reinforcing stereotypical mantra by society at large.
@@saihemebillings2820 Keep the problem where it belongs - the one creating the media that influences others. There’s always one that immediately tries to shift blame 😐
@@j.roberts2230, well said!!! It's not about "hate" like some are quick to throw this word around for anything. It's constructive criticism!
I can relate to this movie, I think that’s why I liked it. I’ve been divorced from my ex husband who was and still is an abusive controlling narcissist for the past 10 years. Black men like Dallas really exist and they’re hurt from childhood. My ex husband witnessed his dad beating his mother to the point he punctured her arteries. His parents were both on drugs really bad when he was growing up. He’s a hurt person and it’s caused him to be the way he is.
I can relate to this movie too! I almost lost my life several times due to Domestic Violence. Domestic Violence is HELLACIOUS and in my opinion it is getting worse in this dark and dying satanic influenced world! Some people are killing their whole household. I appreciate and applaud anyone who can continuously shed light on the HARD issues that many people deal with mostly behind closed doors. Peace and Blessings everyone in Jesus Christ name
Some of these folks probably never even watched the movie 🍿! And if you watch it, you’ll know it was good! The opening scene is a critique on black family and responsibility!
Why does it always seem like Perry paints his pictures with a broad brush on a dark black canvas? 🤔
This movie topic is so played. How many black men who stalk and beat their women movies do we need. TP needs to just go back to his plays, because his movies are played.
In my humble opinion, his best movie is Alex Cross, although he did not write or direct it.
This is the wonderful thing about choices, don’t watch his movies if you’re not a fan.
