Would LOVE the worst purchases! It would be interesting to hear why they weren’t helpful in your classroom, for sure.
I would love to see a top 10 not to buy! I think that would still be beneficial!
I think that as well
Yes!
I buy my laminating pockets from sams club. A 200 pack costs $20 and often they go on sale for $15 and they are awesome!
Whenever a teacher retires and comes back to visit us at school, we always notice and comment how refreshed and relaxed they look. After watching your videos for years, I can say the same thing about you after you moved to Texas! You look better than ever! Thanks for the fun video. This is year 31 for me, but I still enjoy your videos and learning from you.
I agree!
I would love a video on items NOT to purchase! I'm a student teacher now and have begun buying items for my future classroom, so a video like that would definitely be helpful!
Aaaaaand my husband just texted me “whats with the large Amazon order?!” 😂
I miss that feeling of going to school and having a nice classroom to learn in. College was really different in that sense!
Just you only you
I use a cutlery/utensil caddy to hold my pens/pencils. There's also a large spot designed for napkins and that's where I put medium size notepads. I never knew there was an electronic whistle. I'm going to check that out. Thank you for the video.
I loved when you said," I have 3 laminator but you don't need 3. Lol 😆
I have 3 as well. One is 16 years old.
I love that you call it “double sided sticky tape” even though the whole idea of tape is for it to be sticky!
Can you imagine double-sided non-sticky tape? Lol.
You can use a picnic silverware caddy to store your pens. The one I have has 3 small compartments and 1 large compartment. I added 3 plastic cups to the large compartment to make 6 compartments.
Thank you Michelle for your helpful tips on classroom purchases! I really enjoyed this and all of your videos that I watched.
Love this! Thank you sooooo much for the spring loaded scissor idea! I have RA and this will help me so much!
Thank you so much for the video - super helpful even to a veteran of 26 years. I wouldl, however, encourage everyone to try to find heavy cardboard, wood or metal items to replace their plastic ones. I know they will be either less long-lived or more expensive, but we have only 1 planet, and plastic waste is a huge part of the problem. Teacher should be leading the charge and modeling sustainability, IMHO. The good news is we often model reuse, recycle, and repurpose anyway because of our initial good purchases -- like you :) -- or because of our budgets. LOL
Electric Whistle by far is one of my favorite purchases I bought from your CZcams. It sounds a little like our fire drill alarm, but it is a HUGE game changer for calling in kids from recess!
LOVE the electronic whistle! Never heard of it - but super useful when a supply/sub comes in. I too would love to see a video on what not to buy. Pen caddy idea: use a utensil caddy. Works just as well.
Love all your videos! Thank you for all the suggestions.
Always great recommendations. Definitely agree.
Wow! I had 8/10 of those items already! (And they really are game changers!!) Thanks for the Sunday morning sunshine show!! ☕️ 💻
I can definitely vouch for the spring loaded scissors and laminator. Life changer. I’m able to get things made for my class so quickly. Definitely could have use those my first year of teaching.
Thanks for the list. My favoirte all-time tool is my cuttingboard. Couldn't teach without it.
This was great! I have many of these and absolutely love them. I will be looking forward to making a few more purchases based on your list. I would love to know what not to buy as well. Top ten worst purchases would be very helpful to not waste our precious teacher money. Thank you!
Girl! Your videos are so helpful!! 18yr veteran teacher and I regularly learn so much from you. Thank you!
Your videos are so motivating! I literally wait for new videos every week! Although I really miss those vlogs where you'd share your daily routine as a teacher from the day start till the day end! Would you start teaching again anytime soon?
Great video as always!!! Thanks for these ideas.
My personal laminator is a lifesaver. If I get struck at night or over the weekend with some inspiration it's nice to have my own.
I'm going to be looking into those scissors. That looks like a total game changer!!!
I’ve been watching your channel since 2017! I’m now a freshman in college and majoring in elementary education! I’m so excited!
Thank you! I made my purchase of the wireless presenter & x-large dry erase marker using your links in the description. I also purchased a 30 pack of black dry erase pockets. Add those in the description too!
Not only did I land my first job from your portfolio template and the information you provided us with. It was relevant, it was authentic, instrumental in fleshing our full content. I also use these within my classroom. I am not a math teacher, but whatever you provided has really helped me through. Continue inspiring lives, god bless you.
The electric whistle has been the best thing to have. No more strained voice.
Those pocket dry erase boards are great. I can make templates for things the practice often. They can keep lots of templates in each one
Those stikki clips would’ve saved me so much time!!!!!! I love scoot task cards to get my kids up and moving and as a review for each unit. Have so many of them!! Thanks for the suggestions !
Totally buying my best friend, who is also coach, the electric whistle! And I’m buying myself the awesome presenter gadget! I feel chained to my desk. That’s a game changer. Thanks!!!
Target has a similar caddy in the party section labeled as a utensil caddy. Its white with a cure design cut out of it.
I'm a middle school teacher and a lot of your ideas and tips apply to my age level, too. You are awesome!!! I'm an old dog and you are teaching me new tricks:) Thank you!
Thank you. I'm a long time substitute teacher and working as a special education paraprofessional this year. This coming fall semester (2023), I will be student teaching and then be ready to have my own room. I can't wait, I am totally looking for things that I can use.
God Bless you for your love 💕 for children and your investment into our future! As an Elementary Teacher you’ve helped me in so MANY ways to become more organized!
I have had a personal laminator long before I taught in school. I was a piano teacher and I made my own lesson books and practice books and used the laminator for the covers. After teaching in Sped, probably my first year I either bought a new one or used one from before. It doesn't matter what brand. It broke. But it was so great, I just had to have it (but was broke) so I tore it apart and fixed it for 10 more years. It was a pain but I now have the Scotch and LOVE it! I use the dry erase pockets (works great for on the wall calendar so I can add or change IEP dates and such) but I cannot live without my Scotch laminator!
Thanks for all of these recommendations! I would also love to know where you got that super cute top!
I am a big fan of the sticky clips and dry erase sleeves. I have never tried an electric whistle, but I think it would be very helpful since my manual whistle is just not cutting it. Thank you, as always, for the helpful tips! I appreciate all that you do! 😊
I forgot to mention that the personal laminator is also amazing. My class is split for specials (Art, Music, PE, Library) and we have a six-day rotating schedule, so I created a laminated schedule so they know exactly where to go. I also laminated all the standards of learning for each unit and hung them using thumbtacks with hooks. I just use a dry erase marker to circle the standard(s) we are covering that day in each subject. 😊
Awesome tips as usual...getting dry erase pockets ASAP. Off topic: can you link where you got your glasses and watch? Thank you. Love ALL your vids.
Your videos make me happy. 😊
These are neat supplies! I was anticipating for you to push the whistle button the whole time haha.
I definitely agree that personal laminators are super durable. I've had mine for 24 years!
Would love the worst purchases video! I am currently in college for Elementary Education and told my husband I am going to slowly buy items while I finish up schooling so that I can be prepared when I start teaching.
Thank you for posting this video-very helpful! Also, where did you get your glasses from? They are so cute!
As a first year teacher, products to steer clear of would be helpful! (imo) 😊💖
Yesterday I was looking back at your videos and I liked your black and white caddy tryed to hunt for it beacuse it could be handy for my desk. Eventually I’m going to get the “teacher tool box” I put it in quotes beacuse I’m not a teacher but I think it’s brilliant
Love the hair! Please do the worst items you’ve bought or items you think Teachers shouldn’t buy!
I have the same pen caddy! Love every one of your videos!
I got an electric whistle shortly after you first recommended it several years ago. My kids ever since have been obsessed with it (I let one kid per day use the whistle to call everyone in from recess)!
Also, a worst purchases video sounds great!
So useful...Thank You
can u make a video on things you bought but regret, maybe because they were trending at the time? x
I think a top 10 do not buy is a great idea, especially for new teachers, but also for veteran teachers! Love your fun and informative videos!
I love your videos and aspire to be a teacher like you :)
I love your blouse!
I definitely agree with your purchases! You have been masterful with using things in your classroom and making them last (hard to do as a teacher)! A video of what not to purchase could be interesting and funny! I’ve thought about buying an electric whistle, it is a very popular sports tool right now! You could use a classroom doorbell but if you really need your students attention a quick push of the electric whistle could work as well!
Stores sell similar caddy’s that are divided into sections meant for silverware. All designs are available, especially during summer months.
Do a what not to buy! I'll be teaching in less than a year and I'm way too loosey-goosey with money for classroom supplies already!
Love these ideas! Also, can you share where your blouse is from? I love it!
I bought that pen caddy because of you!
Totally would LOVE a worst purchased video! :)
Good morning,
Where did you get the marker caddy? I really love it. Where can I get one?
I wonder if Michelle recommends using a remote pin clip microphone?
Cordless Hot Glue Gun is great too!!
Your hair looks incredible!!! I'd definitely like to see the worst purchases.
I'm from Brazil and I love your channel! The problem here is that everything is to much expensive 😥 I try to use your tips but most of them I need to adapt to my reality as a brazilian teacher... But I appreciate your videos, they help me don't give up. Thank you for this ❤️
I can relate. I live in Grenada (that's in the Caribbean) and things are expensive here as well. I can order it but it will be expensive to ship and clear. Only if someone is coming into the island it will really help.
I would love a “worst purchases” video! Going to buy a large dry erase eraser right now!
Michelle, I know you’ve been asked this before, but can you please tell me where you bought your earrings? I love the scalloped diamond shaped design so much. Thank you!
I would add a #11 for the snack containers :)
Lol... My school office has that stapler. I dislocated one of my fingers the first I used it. 🤣
Yes! What should I avoid purchasing? Thank you Michelle.
Check with your school on whether or not you get a budget for buying supplies. Also, a big thing to check is what other teachers in your building have that they are no longer using or can loan you. Since everyone's situation is different in terms of what they need, there isn't (in my opinion) one universal list.
I HATE the xl eraser. I have two though. But the precision one is sooooo much more convenient. It's magnetic and it sticks to the board!
Michelle, I've been trying to find the black and white marker holder since I first saw yours (years ago now) maybe it's time for you to make reproductions of it for your merch store! :D
I have two of those pen caddy’s too.
Love it!!
Love your video! Side note, did you know that if you store your markers upside down they will last longer?? Just noticed how you stored them :)
Hi Michelle. I want to tell you how wonderful the voice amplifier you recommend has been. Since we are required to wear mask all day this has made it so much less stressful to teach! Several of the teachers at my school will be purchasing one as well.
I'm curious about this as well.
it's good to use voice amplifiers even pre-covid
Yes, please make a video with the worst purchases, too!
Yes I would love the worst purchases! I would love to see a top 10 not to buy! Do make a video!!!
I love the whistle. I'm a Camp Counselor every Summer for a week and sometimes for 2. And a Youth Assistant. And I'm always losing my voice especially when at Camp. I may have to get it!!!!
And I also love the laminator idea. So many things to laminate at church and I don't have a laminator yet!! I may need to get one.
I have a question. On the wireless presenter, can you click on a hyperlink you have in your presentation?
Could you please share the brand , you use to cut the laminated pouch corner cutters with.
hi, I enjoy your videos but it would really help to have CC for hard of hearing/deaf teachers :) thank you!
Your shirt is fantastic! Please tell us where it came from.
Hi Michelle, what is the name of your microphone to record videos for CZcams?
Hey Michelle I'm just wondering are you teaching this year? btw I'm 11 and I love you I know you will help me be a better teacher in the future
But with with the wireless controller you can hold it in your hand and move about with it whereas with a wireless mouse you'd need a surface to use it and how far can you go with it? Enjoyed this vid.
Can you share a link for the laminating sheets you buy in bulk? Thanks!
I am curious to know if it works when you have the "extend display" mode.
A moment of silence for my sad COVID infected recess duty whistle that hit the garbage can last year. It wasn't your fault, little buddy.
🤣🤣🤣
Oh my gosh 😂🤣😂
I commented on a previous video recommending stikki clips. In my experience, they work well but do leave a wax residue behind. You may not notice it at first but over time, dust and dirt sticks to it and it looks terrible. We have cinder block walls so the wax and now dirt are embedded in the walls. Also, kids walking by would take them off and pick the wax out to mix with hand sanitizer to make slime….yes…I know, right? So then I bought just the stikki dots which are just the wax without the clips to replace the wax on the clips. Anyways, I stopped using them altogether. They are great if you put them somewhere and don’t move them!
I don’t like Stikki clips for the same reasons you stated. I use poster putty from Loctite
I use a push pin with a bulldog clip hanging off it and that works pretty well for most things I've needed to hang up.
Can’t use push pins bc the walls are cinder block. The new trend at my school is to put up removable hooks and hang clipboards from them with a small piece of double-sided adhesive behind the clipboard so it doesn’t swing around. This was pretty costly (around $40-$50). The hooks were from Amazon and the clipboards from the dollar store, but it is so quick and easy to put up and take down student work!! I’ve done tape, putty, the stikki clips, clothesline with pegs etc. This has been the best solution, and it looks very neat! I also added the student’s names above the clipboards so I can easily see whose art is missing.
When I worked as a daycamp leader I could never use my whistle because either it had gotten dropped on the floor, or a kid would try to put it in their mouth, or it was covered in paint. An electric whistle would have been amazing.
Wait there are non automatic staplers? Couldn't find one here in Belgium if I wanted to haha :p
I’d love to see a What Not To Buy video!
Michelle, where did you get the drawer set that's behind you. I really like that. Thank you!
I'm pretty sure those are IKEA Alex drawers
They also sell that set at Michael's.
Can you please share (the link) where you buy your laminating pockets (200 packets). When is it usually on sale 😀
Heck, yeah. Help is save money 💰 by telling us what not to buy. 🙏
I would love to see 10 worst items! It would help me in knowing what not to waste my money on.
Why am I so invested in your videos I’m a junior in high school 👁👄👁
