Holy crap! I play so much mono white life gain in historic brawl… and its biggest problem has always been card draw. Just wow! Going to go play this and eat some pancakes at ihop.
sigarda's splendor should be a must in a deck like this
It is one of the it's one of the rare cards that is both an enabler (+1 life for white casting) & a payoff (card draw for higher life total) in one card.
First Sliver should definitely be moved into the hell queue. Way too many people are playing it with just 5color good stuff and impossible to beat unless you have a perfect hand , or plating control, or having them keep a bad hand...

I'm very torn on this. On the one hand it would punish legit sliver players for the fault of abusers and it does feel bad. On the other hand it feels like ages since I last saw it played as an actual sliver commander...
@1ryb360 It's almost as if MTGA with full stats on your decklist should tier your deck based on the cards and interaction modalities within it. Historic Brawl has some of the worst MMR matching in online games in general. It'd be different if they didn't have the data, but they do, and every mechanic, and every interaction, and win rates, etc... So there's really not a good explanation aside some hidden metric where mismatches make the sliver players buy more mythics / alt arts? If they don't correct it, eventually it will bleed players as no fun games are just a waste of everyones time.
WOTC admitted that the commander isn't the only queing factor. Power of the 99 cards is included as well.

At the end of that first sliver game, you could have activated Faceless Haven and sacrificed Selfless Samurai to save it (not that the game was worth playing anymore)

oh man that's a huge play though someone might think you crazy but yah he could of nullified the casualty on his faceless haven by first turning it into a creature then activating indestructible on it though. but CGB was right in conceding there if you think about it longer. Opponent had played a rusko and no doubt he likely has Displacer Kitten. basically opponent very likely has an endless deck and a matter of time before OP picks up casualty again. or even drops a ruin. unless this deck has the same level of recursion or a method to overpower the opponent quickly that would just be dragging out a loss. assuming opponent doesn't concede in frustration at the countering of the first Casualty
@@theodorejrcarpenter3717 Conceding from frustration is likely and the deck is full of creature protection, making it decently likely to have protection every time the opponent could maybe destroy the land.
@@gaberielpendragon agree likely frustration, but still how many times opponent can do it forever based on what I see and imagine is in his deck. eventually CGB will have no cards to stop him. probably do it the first time to see if the opponent has the grit to stick it out in his assured game.

I'm enjoying all the Brawl content. The variety is far more interesting than Standard, and I've even built a few of these decks, since singleton requires fewer wildcards.

What about the enchantment that draws a card if you've got more life than you had last turn? It is 4 mana, so somewhat expensive

Saw something like this in the wild yesterday. I milled him out but had a Gidion emblem that made it so he couldn’t lose, and had an artifact that made all my creature 1/1 with no abilities. Unfortunately he won with tokens before I could get to a farewell.

Built one of these guys on a whim. Has like 80% winrate. Guy is busted.
I enjoy manipulating the seek mechanic.
Like when you drop your commander, gain a life, use that to tutor a 1 mana protect for him.
Or if my enemy builds up his board, i buff him so that i gain just enough life yo tutor for board wipe

I am a noob and pretty new to MtGA, but which mode is considered historic brawl?
Historic Brawl is like commander (the paper format) but 1 vs 1 and with the Historic card pool (= every card on arena). Additionally Planeswalkers are legal as your commander.
Commander means 100 card decks, only 1 copy of any given non basic land card. Furthermore every deck has a commander: a legendary creature or planeswalker. It will start in your command zone (like an extension of your hand) every game from where you can cast it and return it to should it ever die. The mana cost of your commander will increases by 2 every time you cast it from your command zone. All of the cards in your deck have to match your commanders "color identity". This means means that If your commander is white you can only play mono white cards and colorless cards. With a Blue White commander you can only play cards that are either blue, white, both or colorless and so on.

Kind of glad first sliver beats life gain. It was so hard to root for both decks. Really good game on both parts. Love first sliver, but also love cgb. Could honestly care less about life gain though, about as annoying as the typical mono red fascist players.
I don't know how you guys play these overtuned decks. They seem like such a headache.

Why I unsubscribed
You asked before if you should play competitive or fun decks. Well I watch your videos knowing your decks outperform other MTG youtubers. If you're going to play fun decks, you probably just need to make sure your branding is clear, or you could lose your quality deck building reputation.
