Such a pleasure seeing this review on Sunday morning over here Jim. Having this release capture your attention (and tastebuds 😁) says all I need to know. Cheers my friend 🙏

Cheers Drew. I'd almost already passed judgement on this given the samples I'd tried. It paid to stick with it.

Thanks Jim. Welcome back. Hope you and the family had a great Christmas. Tried this at Whiskey Live in Dublin and enjoyed it but not enough to join the frenzy to secure a bottle so far

Cheers Craig. Agh that frenzy was bizarre. We've got loads of stock of it in the shop 🤷‍♂️😄

Enjoying the old comber I bought today at the friend at hand. Well worth a try, loving the long finish. Thank you for the recommendation.

And he's back! Great to see you after the break, Jimbo. I WANT this in my life. I NEED this in my life. It SO appeals to my N.Irish palate! It's also great to see this old brand revived. Hoping I can pick one up next year when I'm next home. :)

It'll most likely be back as a pot still by the time you're over Rich. Hopefully not going away now 😉

Good to have you back reviewing, Jim.
Let's be honest, though. I'll probably never taste this whisky, I've never seen it or heard about it, so I doubt the Danish market will be the place to find it.
The Yellow Spot remains the only Irish whiskey in my collection for the time being.
Cheers buddy - just to repeat myself, good to have you back 🥃

Oh and btw I don't think, I've tasted or even heard of a whisk(e)y matured in a combination of sherry and port casks. If nothing else that alone makes it interesting... but (you know...)

Cheers Benny. It is a strange one in that, it never really did seem to leave Ireland this one 🤷‍♂️.
      Thanks man 🙏

Hi Jim, good to see you back. Haven’t heard of this one (no surprises there). Sounds like a good blend, but for £55 (around €65) it’s going up against some pretty good blends and single malts, as you say it could be a few £’s cheaper. For example picked up the cutty sark prohibition for €22,at 50%. Good and interesting video Jim. Slàinte 🥃 .

Hope you had a good break Jim
Been past the old original distillery hundreds of times but didn’t even know they timemade some liquid sunshine in there, was always a big derelict building for a long
Took a trip too Elchinville Distillery when I was back home from Oz last July, good wee spot

Myself and my whisky chums share about samples of 100ml, then never seem big enough and I’m not of the opinion half a bottle and some time is what I need to inform an opinion on a whisky. Great review Jim!

Glad to see you back Jim, great review for a great whiskey but agree that it is a tad dear for a NAS blend.

Thanks for the review. I picked this up when released. Was a bit surprised to see grain on the label when delivered. I assumed it was the pot still. I don't think they made a big noise about changing to a blend..........

    • @WhiskeyNovice
      @WhiskeyNovice  Před 8 měsíci +1

Cheers Keith. They didn't. I still don't really get why they went to a blend considering it is their intention to go back to pot still again 🤷‍♂️

Great review, my new year resolution is to explore ilocal irish whisky a bit more. I had been looking at echlinville but also thought it was a tad pricey. Does the friend at hand have any of this in stock.

    • @WhiskeyNovice

Cheers Scott. Currently still in stock at The Friend at Hand yes.
