Of course as you all know Dean martin was Italian and spoke fluently. He spoke only Italian at home as a boy. This 'Goombah' was New York slang (etymology, from the Italian) and he was saying it that way.
It's not actually that hard to learn Italian if you know English, the grammar is very easy so maybe you should try it, heck, in a lot of jobs they'll pay more for someone who is multilingual
