Great video, I decided to pay someone $100 per cylinder to rebuild mine, I didn't want to clean up hydraulic fluid from all over my shop.
It's crazy that the seals cost about the same as gold per ounce.

You didn't show replacing any of the seals? Direction of rod seals would have been especially nice to see.
Pretty sad a 2021 already needs seals my old 2008 3005 has never had a hydraulic part 1 put on it and I beat the poor thing to death lol. And your suppose to change the ORF O-rings anytime you take a fitting loose
I'm curious of how many hours were on that tractor because I've got a John Deere tractor too. And after like a thousand 1200 hours the cylinders just go bad

I used a hose (screw tighten) type hose clamp/strap to compress the lock ring & the piston seal, kind of like if I was putting in a piston with rings in a cylinder block. Was there a o ring under the piston seal? Thanks for the upload.

After your repair, at app the 21:32 mark, it looks like the outboard snap ring was not in place. It was up by the bucket and sliding along the rod. If that was indeed what I saw I hope you noticed it before any damage was caused. (Nice Tractor BTW)
Actually that is just dirt buildup at the end of the cylinders travel next to the green paint... i have the exact tractor and mine looks like that on the end when i use it
..not the outer snap ring as it is much larger
If you look back around 5:22 you can see that there's a lip at the end of the rod on that piston, for some reason.
I have a jd 3043 d with a 300e loader. Is it necessary to bleed the air out of the hydraulic lines? My bucket drops during operation. I bought the o ring kits. But my cylinders are both fine. No external leaks and they both hold pressure. Is air in my lines causing this issue? I had a few lines shake loose while operating a rock bucket. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
"Implement drop" with no visible Hydraulic Oil leaking out of the system is usually caused by bad seals, O-rings, Gaskets etc allowing fluid to leak internally across one chamber/port to the other side and finally back to the tank. If your leakdown test shows your Cyl's as being fine then you could have LOTS of displaced air being introduced into the system. Some signs would be a WHINING Hyd Pump (air cavitation in a pump is NOT good) Lack of lifting or digging power, High temp in your lines, pump, or tank.
@@phoneapps7351 I bought a used (I think maybe 07-09) JD 4100 with the 410 fel. Since l bought it everytime you went to raise the bucket it would drop down about 6"-9" before going up. And the bucket would leak down. We were doing some work this past weekend and blew the seal in the right lift cylinder. I'm planning on rebuilding both lift cylinders what with the age of the unit and the right side going out. I'm hoping that will take care of the bucket drop and leak down as well. Other than JD, Amazon and eBay, where is the best place to get good quality seal sets at a reasonable price? Hopefully that all aren't now being made in Chy-Na! And with rebuilding the cylinders and the loss of fluid from the blown seal l guess l also need to invest in a 5 gal bucket of fluid as well. 🙁 😂
what is up with the weld on the fitting where it attaches to the cylinder?
It's a repair job which probably caused the seals to wear out due to the weld which probably tweaked the cylinder out of round.

The fluid (and air) circulate back to the tank where the air gets dropped and so it's basically self purging/bleeding the air as long as your tank has plenty of fluid.
I just had one done at the tune of $120.00 for labor alone …..
when did you remove the tool that you installed toremove the rod ass.?
Before you put the rod assembly back in. I tried installing the rod assembly with the tool in cylinder and it came out.
I wish he would have showed those steps or sped it up cause mine is different I think.
A video like this, even though it's ok, is sht when they skip over everything that the title was actually supposed to be. Seems like according to the title, the video should have been about installing the seals. This was completely passed over.
