Meanwhile, Billy has to keep one step ahead of mobsters, to whom he owes money, while staying on the good side of his "Jeopardy!"-obsessed, motormouth wife (Rosie Perez).

❤🖐️Hey Flix Talkers! CZcams has copyright claimed this reaction. Can y'all do me a favor and if you want to support the channel , please hit that LIKE & SUBSCRIBER for more! ❤
Are you flucking kidding me? So sorry to hear that. Definitely "liked"....and I'm already subscribed!
@@TTM9691 yeah that's why it took so long to put out. CZcams has it in jail...technically 20th Century Fox had it in jail for 5 days before they released it
When you asked how tall Wesley Snipes was he was standing next to former Crenshaw High/UCLA/NBA player Marcus Johnson who is 6ft 7 or 6 ft 8 inches tall.
The chemistry between Wesley and Woody is REAL!! You can tell those two are close friends....they've worked together 3 times!!
Fun fact: Both Keanu Reeves and Charlie Sheen were being considered for the role of Billy Hoyle, but Sheen turned it down, it went to Reeves who auditioned with Snipes, their scenes were undercut by an uncooperative Snipes who wanted Woody to get the part.
I could see Sheen playing the part, but not Reeves. But it's hard to imagine either of them being better for the part than Woody.
@@jakes3799 i don't think reeves can talk smack like harrelson does, but reeves is taller which would have made more sense in this movie a about b ballers, sheen would have been awkward to me for some reason.
@@Super_Rockie_Rukawa_Kun But Billy's Achilles heel was that he couldn't dunk. So being shorter actually fit somewhat. The most important thing though is the acting. Reeves is to wooden and not awkward enough. Sheen might have been a little too cool for that part.
Every movie from this time had that “grimey” look, because they were shot on film. It’s so sad that people don’t realize that these days because everything is shot digitally.
Yep. The 90s Look. I think A24 movies are going back to it.
I watched this so many times as a kid I actually wore out the VHS tape. 😂
I'd forgotten how much I really liked this movie; can't believe it's been 31 years. I remember writer/director Ron Shelton saying he loved working with NBA players - they never shied or complained about doing endless retakes since running drills was second nature to them.
"Billy, listen to me. White men can't jump."
Roll Credits! (ding)
Fun Fact: NBA player Gary Payton made an uncredited appearance as an unidentified street baller.
Life Imitating Art Fact: The category "Foods That Start With The Letter Q" was an actual category on an October 1997 episode of Jeopardy! (1984)
Can't Jump Fact: When Woody Harrelson dunked, it was not on a ten foot hoop, but actually a nine and a half foot hoop. He couldn't quite dunk on a ten foot hoop.
Basketball Camp Fact: When Woody Harrelson was making this movie, the producers hired Bob Lanier, the retired Detroit Pistons' center, as a basketball coach. Harrelson, who had played some basketball in college, was bragging to Lanier about what a great player he was. Lanier invited Harrelson to play a little one-on-one. Harrelson later described it as "the most embarrassing fifteen minutes" of his life.
The writer-director, Ron Shelton, played minor-league baseball, never made it to the majors. He's the one who wrote Bull Durham. He knew the life he was portraying in the movie. One thing that's always struck me about his movies: sports is the background of the stories. The movies are really about men -- our competitiveness, our sense of honor, our relationships with women, our feelings of duty and love toward our families.
Shelton wrote a movie way back in 1986: The Best of Times, starring Robin Williams as a meek banker who once dropped a pass in a high school football game, causing the team to lose; and Kurt Russell as the quarterback who threw the pass, who has become a mechanic and also paints designs on mini-vans. Check that one out.
I've no interest in watching the reboot. The original is flawless!
This isnt just a movie about basketball. Its about basketball, competition, relationships, money problems, confidence and making life decisions. 🙌🏼
lol, I love the Stucchi Brothers m.o. Don't actually kill anyone, but instead just take pictures of people posing as if they'd been killed, and then use the "polaroids" to intimidate people. 🤣 Much better to earn a tough reputation that way, without actually killing. Very fun and clever story device. 😊😊
Their chemistry together is amazing. loved it.
I actually liked Wesley Snipes other movie from 1992. "Passenger 57"
That was a really good tense action flick with him.
I have to check it out soon!
Drop Zone from ‘94 is worth checking out also
I think I watched this movie 30 or 40 times during the 90's 🙂
Really fun reaction! Rosie was my favorite soul train dancer back in the day. I saw this at the theater when I was in junior high. Movie is hilarious, great soundtrack too.
I agree! Thank you for watching 🙂
One of my all time favourite films... always cracks me up!
Hey! Cool! This was a super fun reaction!!! "The Venice Beach Boys"! 🤣You knew who liked this movie? None other than Stanley Kubrick! (according to his daughter!). Just like when you did "Chinatown", the fact you know L.A. so well is SUCH a huge bonus in this reaction! I learned a lot! I love Rosie Perez in this movie, especially when she wins Jeopardy. Love that scene. You're right, this movie has a lot of great one liners. It's just better than I thought it was going to be, I don't know what you were expecting, but I remember not having high hopes for this one when I first watched it. PS: What else is great about this reaction? It's not a movie everyone else does!!!! You're always good at mixing it up and surprising us! Never in a million years would I think to recommend this movie to a reactor......not because it's not worthy, but it just wouldn't occur to me, so many other movies would crowd it out! So I'm so happy you just went ahead and did this one. THANKS!!!!
I really appreciate this comment! I love the big movies that everyone does too but even the ones others don't do , if I'm in the mood I'm in the mood ya know. I do this all for fun! That's what it's about
Those guys you called “cleaned up homeless” are a professional singing trio. The guitar playing rollerblader guy is also an LA icon.
Not the guys singing , the guys on the floor lol
@@FlixTalk Back then, they might have been local hipsters trying to look rustic when the “hobo” look was in. Derelicte and Heroin Chic were pretty real. Echo Park is wall to wall tents too now - right after the park got rebuilt and reopened.
In 1997 my buddy had a one bedroom right on Venice Beach boaordwalk. The tourists walking past could pet his cat in the window sill. It took 4 mins to walk from his bed to the first wave. $1000/mnth.
@@tempsitch5632 once again...cleaned up lol go visit Venice now...if you dare
@@FlixTalk And the real estate is still crazy priced despite the condition. Same for the downtown “lofts”. Dumps in sea of filthand they’re trying to charge NYC rent prices. Hollywood and the Valley are bad too now. Studio City of all places, is even infested. I think I’ll stick to my safe home in skid row.
This movie won’t get you the views but it’s a must watch for movie buffs. Thanks for reacting to it. Snipes and Harrelson are a dynamic duo.
Oh I wasn't expecting it to lol. I just love watching all kinds of movies whether they give me views or not. I don't care about any of that
So happy to see this reaction! This film is iconic. I was about 13 when this came out and spent countless hours working on moves pulled directly from this film. The idea of a reboot was blasphemous. I didn’t even watch the commercials for that trash. I really wish Woody & Wesley would’ve done more movies together, their chemistry is flawless. Btw, you should review Money Train sometime. Thanks!
AWESOME MOVIE, solid 4 out of 5, they domt make movies like this anymore
I agree! Great duo
If you liked the chemistry between these two and haven't seen it. Check out Money Train. On a side note, I couldn't stand the Gloria character. I think she was a hypocrite. Had no problem with Billy' gambling unless he lost.
You can't take an alcoholic out to bar and then get mad when they drink too much.
I'll check out money train thanks! And thank you for watching
They finally left you post it lol Great reaction
Right!? I was afraid it wouldn't get released..took a few days but they can't stop us! Haha thank you for watching
@@FlixTalk So true Always a pleasure 🤗
Marques Johnson NBA Legend....aka Raymond. Damn there stole the movie. 😆
There is a whole flixtalk community?!
@26:46 I see no problems with either of her complaints.
It really pissed me off that Billy and Sydney didn't just explain to Gloria that Sydney needed their help for his family and then Sydney at the end acting as if Billy did the wrong thing helping him, in my opinion it just doesn't make sense. Because I think Gloria would have understood and wanted to help Sydney, especially if they told her the truth on how she got on jeopardy.
Bro,do Eddie Murphy's Beverly Hills Cop next!👍🏽
Reboot is pointless...let the classics stand alone and let that be the end of it
I'm not even gonna watch the remake
Don't even waste your time it was pretty bad
They done another movie together with Jennifer Lopez called The Money Train
Any good?
Yes it's a lot of action
The new version doesn’t even compare
Hell no it doesnt
❤😂🎉😮😅😊
huh? were do you live? lol I live in LA. Its beautiful
