Respiratory System Definition
“Human Respiratory System is the organ system that involves inhaling of oxygen and exhaling of carbon dioxide to meet the energy requirements.”
When we breathe, we inhale oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide. The so-called exchange of gases is necessary for metabolic activities and can be considered a chemical process.
What is the Respiratory System?
The human respiratory system consists of a group of organs and tissues that help us to breathe. Lungs are the primary organs of the respiratory system which help in the exchange of gases.
The other main parts of this system include a series of airways for air passages, blood vessels, and the muscles that facilitate breathing.

Kindly clarify this:
Blood cells travel through lungs and reach alvioli. Here, as you said, blood cells exchange carbon dioxide for oxygen. Right?
But my doubt s are here:
1)Alvioli, however small, has a thin membrane around it. Hence how can blood cell cut membrane of alvioli and go out and absorb oxygen by giving out carbond dioxide?
2) Alternatively, how can oxygen atoms (or molecules) cut membrane of alvioli and exchange oxygen for carbon di oxide?
3) It is well known in physics that, there must be enough pressure in blood cells or in oxygen molecules (atoms) so that oxygen is absorbed by blood cells or oxygen is dissolved in blood cells under pressure.
Since alvioli is very very small, how can there be enough pressure (air pressure) for absorption/exchange?
Mere statement that, exchange takes place in alvioli, is not at all correct; the explanation is not at all convincing.
I feel something (some information) is missing. Will you clarify? -
