I'm glad I'm treated right away, it only left me with minor mental problems. I wish the spots it left can fade in no time.

That’s great! I’m so happy you were able to get the medicine you needed. I have been reading a bit about the social stigma, self-segregation that people with the condition can face and it’s some very powerful stuff. If you have faced or continue to face even a fraction of it... you have my sympathy and understanding. Stay strong and never judge yourself too harshly because I’m sure you’re lovely! ❤️

It is easier to treat Leprosy/ Hansen's Disease than cancer. With treatment and knowledge perhaps the stigma of this condition will diminish. The exclusion of the people who have contracted this bacterial infection must hurt them emotionally. Education is a must. Thank you for this documentary.

so, the medication that cures leprosy is available free of charge all around the world? thats really good news.

    • @janrees4887
      @janrees4887 Před 3 lety +5

Yes, but people still don't have the knowledge and so social stigma persists and people sometimes know they have the disease but hide it instead of getting cured and slowly become disabled and lose their families and it was still grounds for divorce with no financial support so women who start to show symptoms (up to 20 years after they contract it! ) are kicked out and /beaten and lose everything.
Please help share awareness now that you're aware yourself.
      Xx

@@janrees4887 Helping people who want no help is difficult, and that they are stigmatized is sad but also understandable, as they are contagious. Maybe social workers can talk them into going for treatment.

Prakh was so lucky to be diagnosed before he had any symptoms because if he had he'd probably not have gotten tested because of the stigma and the disease then could have slowly taken his nerves and then he'd eventually be disabled and only then would he have gotten treatment and it would have been too late- he could have lost his sight and digits but most of all his dignity.
This is such a cruel disease and people still think it comes from a punishment from God for some moral deficiency.
I'm so glad he got his treatment and is probably cured now and living a normal life instead of becoming a burden and being pushed out by his community and abandoned or sent to a colony...
If you live in area where the disease may be endemic like India (60% of all new cases last year) or Brazil, please share this video.
Hansen's disease, or leprosy is curable with free medication from the government all around the world but people still don't get tested early because of the stigma.

I live in Congo Kinshasa. We have a Leprosy Hospital where I go to donate bandages and antiseptic creams. I saw in the video that the medicine is free
Plse can you give me the exact name so that I may get to help the patients. Is it available off the counter even if I have to buy to donate I don’t mind. I would like to save the lives of those who can be saved with this treatment.
    Waiting your reply. 🙏🙏🙏

Jesus Heals a Man With Leprosy
12 While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with leprosy.[b] When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged him, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”
13 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” And immediately the leprosy left him.
14 Then Jesus ordered him, “Don’t tell anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.”
15 Yet the news about him spread all the more, so that crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses. 16 But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.

Prevention is better than cure. If we did this with all infections, we would have a much happier and healthier world.

I appreciate that these patients are being protected and overseen medically. That's the first step. But with diet improvements, special herbs, perhaps mild narcotics, and Ganesh amulets made and blessed by Tibetan medicine women(ask Dr. Deepak Chopra in California) I feel we can do more to heal these good Cambodians suffering from leprosy.

No; No; Family contacts and all is about trying to exclude and exterminate a population; We do this in the USA, too. This is illegal and unacceptable.
