Nr. 1,3,4 are already my favourites and I use them a lot in sparring.
But I never thought on your point on Nr 4 to go exaggerated high to lift their elbow even higher. That was a very good point I will try that out in sparring!
Btw I don't know if you mean the same but Nr 1 you can throw a overhand right too. It covers more distance than a normal head hook and forces your opponent to shell up high even better in my opinion.
Thanks for the crisp video very well chosen combos and very good explanation!
John Malkovich got jacked!
that was a liver shot to my funny bone. I'm in a state of perpetual laughter...
Dude! I thought the same thing!
😂
Don't forget, they are a black belt school. Good video, I must admit.
Maintaining the eye contact is pivotal to this move and setup I have learned. Also, utilizing proper technique incorporating the hips into the punch. I used to set this up with switch kicks 3 combination total (leg kick - liver kick - headkick and you will usually get the headkick.)
Instead of reading "We Are A Black Belt School" i read "we are back at school" and I thought it was a celebration party for covid 19 ending in a country or something.
that's funny....
@@ThePitOnlineDojo I'm sorry that my comment has nothing to do with your video, and if you think I'm being sarcastic I'm sorry for that to I really did read it wrong

I was literally just searching for liver shot set ups, watched your old video on it, and BOOM a brand new one is up! Love your videos.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. It's very appreciated.
Thank you very much for the support, It means a lot.
Thank you for the support and kind words
He is like a really tough monopoly man.
Love the classic touch n go double left hook.
Dude you're the man. Great advice, thank you for the information.
Excellent. Thanks.
Love this. New ways of getting to the liver. Will be fun practicing these setups and crushing blows to an internal organ.
This is excellent stuff. Just what I was looking for. Thank You John 🙏🏼
Thanks coach
Thanks for the tips, John.
A legend of the sport! 🙏
I love this video. Ever since the gym opened I have been practicing liver shots every day.
In my 6 years training I have received 6 big liver shots and they are the worst!
Are you fine right now?
Just beautiful set up 👌
Thanks Coach
Thanks for sharing👌👍
Kinda punches like Liddell. I see the style translation.
he looks like liddell
This is Liddell’s head coach lol.
Thank you my guy I appreciate this 🥊

Love your work, Sir
Thank you for the support
Bravissimo. Grazie
Brilliant tips 💪
Thank you for your support
Thank you for these tips!
My best takeaways were the setup, breaking their defense prior to the shot, plus the anatomy tip of up under the rib cage and the punch being a blend of hook + uppercut hybrid.
I can see where a Muay Thai knee or various kicks would work perfectly coming up and under too.
Great stuff.
Nice combos!
If I ever join the UFC, I with thank you most definitely.
Sure wouldn't want mess with this guy
NICE
Nice
GREAT JOB
Thank you
I will thank you in the Octagon 1 day John!
Enjoy ur videos, Mr Hackleman.
Thank you very much
Once again, Sensei, you are precise and to the point! Fantastic stuff
Thank you brother
Too much powerful tecnic.
YOu have great points; however, the best set up is the jab to the face, left the liver, because the jab blinds them or pushes the head back which also blinds them or disorients the, keeps them at the end of your punch and allows you to slip under anything that they may want to throw, and sneak the shot to the liver with all of your power.
Nice setups. As a southpaw, I have to modify them a little - lead right hook, left to liver; right jab, left to liver; left hook to head, left to liver.
There are pluses and minuses to being a southpaw...Sometimes you can attack deliver better, sometimes not so much.
You earned a new sub. For me, liver shot is worse than groin strikes.
thank you...welcome
While I was doing it at night practicing I had my headphones on and I hit the head then the liver but I Accidentally hit my headphones instead and I was like did u break it and I didn’t thank god! btw thank i so much now I can defend my self!
I was jumped by a gang in the early 90’s. They surrounded me and as many as could get in shots were just raining blows at my head as fast as they could throw punches. I was trying to get through/away, and it felt like a guy punched me in the lower right rib area. It hurt so bad that I instantly thought my rib was broken. It took all the air out of my lungs and I remember thinking “That’s it… I’m going down.” Turns out he had shanked me with a knife really hard, and the knife hit flush on the lower rib that (sort of) protects the liver. It didn’t actually break the rib, but it was a pain that I can’t describe and i instantly knew that my body was going to the ground no matter what.
When I got to the ER, the doc explained what had happened. He said, “You’re a lucky guy because if that knife would have been a half inch higher or lower it would have punctured your liver.” I asked him what would have happened if it had, and he said, “You’d have bled to death in about 1-2 minutes.”
I give all glory to God for saving me that night! But yeah, the liver shot is a fight ender…
Great video and a good followup to the video by Bas. My concern is if I can be fast enough to throw the first punch (whether it's the left jab or right hook/cross) and then get in quick enough to throw a hook to the liver without getting clocked by a quick right before I can deliver the punch. Thanks for the info.
You’re flairing your elbows brother
Please, when you punch, always keep your other hand up protecting your chin!!!!
usually
Try hard to protect the chin
A hook comes straight at your liver
What are supposed to do to protect both at once ?
@@zen_hayate I would rather take a body shot to a chin shot. With a body shot sometimes your foot work can lesson the blow, body conditioning, elbow drop, etc. I like liver shots though if your good at them you can end a fight asap
Great vid but my fav and one I've had the most success is J C hook to liver
Yeah agree. I also like to throw a few really hard J Cs and then suddenly go jab feint the cross and hook to liver.
Made my liver quiver!!!
John Malkovich beefed up!
Brachypelma Smithi I saw the image of him in my head from the movie Red, but I couldn’t recall his name.
John Malcovich 🤔
Their voices are similar too. 🙂
Do i pivot the lead foot when i throw the liver shot?
Cheap bourbon also mess up your liver...
Good idea, just befriend the guy you are trying to fight and then give him cheap bourbon for a while..... playing the long con lol
Excellent technique. And thank you for teaching us.
I would always throw a weak combo to lure them in. While I was dipping to doge their shots, I would dip hard left them come up with momentum throwing a left upper right under the ribs. They fell like a cut tree.
1. Invite Bas Rutten over. 2. Tell him the other guy talked trash about him. 3. Watch the liver shot performed by the best.
Micky ward best livershot.
would you consider doing a Southpaw attack the Liver breakdown? for the most part I use my Left Leg but Id like some more options
That's a good idea. Thank you for the suggestion.
I am pleased you like the idea ;o) another video I think would be great to see is a video about go-to options in areas where there is almost always a pause or where things stall out in MMA.
One big example is like one fighter will go for a takedown and have an underhook so the other man will defend by taking a Whizzer and turning like for a hip toss. almost never turns into a successful throw for the Whizzer guy but it does stop the other fighters takedown attempt. the thing is there are great striking options there to tack on to the end of the hip bump like an Uppercut or pushing off to a round kick. I would love to see someone look at the various places where things tend to stall a bit in MMA.
Imma use it on big dudes
Bas Rutten was and always will be the king of this technique.
Tap with a right uppercut then rip to the liver is a flashy combo but more risk. Golovkin style
This may sound off the wall, but why not a right uppercut to the liver set up with a left hook to the head?
Isn't it coming across at a better angle for getting up under the ribs, and with more power as well?
I realize that no one is teaching it this way, but somehow I instinctively felt it made sense before I ever heard otherwise.
1:13 i call it the george foreman he used to HAMMER guys with that to open em up
I think a right cross (or in KB/MT) back leg front kick.. gets checked, checking leg comes down, guard is usually high and tight w/ the elbows not covering the body. But that right cross (orthodox) drops the opponents hands so as soon as they bring it back to shell a tight guard again, boom. (it really depends on the skill of the other person) For someone who's has basic boxing skills.. just rabbit punch them so they shell up and choose the liver or an uppercut... I love the right cross lol. Especially against southpaw, but every fighter reacts differently to them. I've seen some really high level Southpaws bringing back 1 arm cross-guards because their power punch is guarding their liver... Damn natural advantages...
It´s always left right?
Thanks so much my grandma stood no chance
Since when did David Cross become a striking coach? Lmao
that was exactly what I was thinking all the time in the vid LMAOOO
Thats exactly what i was thinking hahaha
Not once! That dude is an anti-American jerkoff.
foot work?
Are they a black belt school?
Bas Rutten anyone? :D :D :D
IMMA SOUUUUTTHHHH PAAAWWWWWW
throwing the right hand leaves you open. With the left jab you have them at your mercy in that you are able to slide in easily while they are off guard
Black belts in what?
Grandma never saw it coming.
Is that John Malcovich's twin brother???
No. He is John Malkovich
Like a Bas
Can the liver shot be done with palms down???
I honestly don't see how, but nothing is impossible
David Cross?
Training on CZcams
Who needs gym
Is that a fart at minutes 2:53??? Lol
Yes it was his friend walked away

Ha when u got to let loose... I usually do it on the low though. Release some pressure little by little as i take a step
Sir when I land a liver shot than my puch should be over the ribs or below the ribs.
below the ribs... aimed up
@@ThePitOnlineDojo thanks sir
If Freddy Roach had a long lost son...
Left hooks and liver shots are my favourite. “ When I get hit in the liver, I don’t fucking move “ - Jeremy Stephens 😂😂👊 who da fook is that guy
Ouch.
So basically attack their face and then attack liver.
Are they a blackbelt school? I can't tell.
hahahaha
@@ThePitOnlineDojo Honestly though, great vid. Thank you!
how to deal with bullys
so i am a lefty, so it is a right jab then a right to the liver?
Are u dumb this must ben the most stupidest coment iv ever seen
@@kytecartlidge9059 I'm smart enough to use spell check
The same shot Aldo used on Jeremy, but Jose could have put more torque into the shot and did some real damage.
Also, why is it that I don't see too may top MMA guys, like Aldo double up on the hook?
A nice double hook...liver to jaw puts most guys to sleep.
Coach John, what about a straight cross to the nose-jaw area then a left hook to the liver?
Just curious...since they both weighed the same(honest opinion).
Prime Chuck Liddell vs. Prime Dennis Alexio in a straight up stand up fight, how does it go?
In my humble opinion Kajukenbo stylists, most have pretty decent hands/boxing.
Keep the great vids coming Shihan Hackleman!
I think following a straight right With a Liver punch is a great setup... kaJuKenBo all day. Aloha
Thanks Coach John.
BTW...Kajukenbo is a dynamite system.
Most Kaju guys have good hands/boxing skills and that IN MY OPINION, makes Kaju a better system than American Kenpo.
The VA, gave me a Liver biopsy. They didn't get enough the first time. So,ended up getting two more biopsies!!So,I guerantee, the liver shot is debilitating.
Thank you now i can make my abuse father rest in peace
😳
Going to drill these right now.
Go to it, let me know how you like it.
This is the traditional GREEK PUNCH. Its called MATSOLA. Any Greek is expert in this from children! Usually its followed by grappling on the ground, it is very effective.
do you comment this on every liver punch video
@@matthewsilcox9687 they have the same subject, but i like the way you explain thinks about martial arts, you make them easy to understood.
