and that's what bass tone SHOULD sound like.
Amen brother!!!!
you said it, bro. 👌
too true dude
Really? It kind of sounds like a frog croaking
Augie its called slapping...
The dancer in this song is one of my dance teachers. Watch it in class the other day so beautiful. Her name is Whitney Hart wish she could have been linked in this but... It's still very awesome
Emory Ferguson okay what
yes i’m SURE
@@JB-sp4kk Who gives a shit whether it is or not?
Well now she's linked 👍
She probably got a lump sum anyway
That bass tone.... Fuuuuuuccccckkkk.
I swear!
this is Carvin,kinda cool bass
Yes. Great bass. Is that hickory or black walnut. (the wood that the bass guitar is made from)..Beautiful..like his playing
You know a band is creating a new sub-genre when the comments is trying to define their new style, and can't agree on an answer.
Steven Bandola lmao still relevant
Polyphia just make the best hooks. There are better bands and better guitarists and better songwriters, but Polyphia has the hook game locked down.
Jos Budon hell,I'd say it's even more relevant lol
@@1Heirborn Hook-core
Their newest shit is meh, but this album should be an classic
I'm hooked, and I'm 60 yrs. old. Nothing beats great musicianship.
I could listen to that intro all day for a month.
Finally, now people will see how fantastic this band is! I love all of their stuff but it is hard to say that some of the muse stuff wasn't in more of a niche genre. They evolved their sound to play these driven darker songs that pull it back a bit more than previous works, and I love it. See you on Billboard 100 Polyphia!
+DarkProphecy
+DarkProphecy I am with you. I have been listening to these guys since there first ep. Hands down most talented group of individuals.
I think that was evident from the start but okay
Anyway, I think you guys even sound a lot better since the past months. I dont know what it is exactly but its a real overall improvement of the feel and creativity!!
-+DarkProphecy- Hagood Martin, I understand your feelings toward the musicianship of this band. Yes, they are very talented, but you don't seem to be familiar with the godfathers that have paved the way for what you are currently enjoying.
+Mathias What a ridiculous and irrelevant assumption!
I'm 62 year old and have never hear this band until now and all I can say glad I found them. They the shit.
Their bassist is bass playing goals!
Clay you have one of my favorite bass tones ever!
+Mark Walters Kiesel Brian Bromberg signature! Isn't that sick?!
+Wired Guitarist Was a Kiesel used on the recording, or was that still with one of his MM basses?
Kiesel from what I heard!
I shall dub this 'Fancy Metal'
sdfdsv love it mate
Lol
@@absp2006 Fetal, cause that's the position I'm in whilst listening to this.
I vote funky shredding
So just math rock borderlining prog metal.
Too much groove. Groove overload! SPLOOGE!!!
My favorite song, gets me though everything.
2:48 that build and drop, damn just touchs the soul.
This song helps me process all my negative emotions
my favorite polyphia song by far
Fuckin same dude
same here- just recently got introduced to them and I'm addicted to this song
I've been jamming this nonstop for the past fortnight, if not longer. Its addictive! 2:54 onwards gives me chills every time.
same here, every single time it get to the bridge
We need more 8 string bands in this world. Also, IDC what other people say, the bassist is technically impressive and musically fits well with the rest of the band.
This is so good they should have called it wet dreams instead
Such a perfectly structured song. I absolutely love the way the bass is emphasized and still complements the others. And that intro is simply beautiful.
Most beautiful song off the most beautiful album ever. Please make music like this again 😔
I've been a Polyphia fan since the Inspire EP days, and I will say I do miss that Polyphia. Inspire was basically the ideal djent/progressive metalcore/whatever EP to me. I mean, who hasn't watched that Impassion or Transcend playthrough at least 60 times each? haha.
However, you guys have moved on, and I'm happy to say that this new stuff is just fantastic. You guys have matured into a new style, *the* Polyphia style.
Muse was a little rough around the edges, but it was a new sound for you guys and some experimentation was needed.
These newly released singles, however, sound perfect. Love every single track. I know many people will disagree with me, but the great guitar playing, tasty bass licks, and excellent drumming combined with wonderful atmospheric and electronic elements are going to make this easily the best album of 2016 from what I've heard so far.
i know im 5 years late but what do you think about polyphia now a days
This is what it means to be inspired. It grows. The inspiration matures. Music should be a journey. A journey that every little song replicates.
I've now heard the entire album and this song has to be my favorite. I love the guitar work on this song and the melody is awesome. The entire album is great as well.
So glad Spotify recommended these guys. A 2008 me who loved progressive metal and electronic music would have been in heaven. So glad to finally hear a groovy fusion of electronic music and metal after all these years.
I think one of the main aspects if their playing styles thats incorporated into their music is that they gain inspiration from songs and sounds outside of not only the rock genre all together but from music thats not using guitars at all. Ive seen them state that many times over the years. The last album they had out 2014-2015? was inspired by pop rap and what passes for R&B now. And a lot of it was radio friendly at that. I find it amazing that they can borrow soundscapes from these songs and then arrange and structure their songs around them as well. That's much more complicated than playing Mario Bros. on a bass Vivaldi on an 8 string guitar. I love the sound that comes from these 8-9 string guitars so long as their used sonically well. No one can be Meshuggah or Animals as Leaders; actually no one else can I don't think. Its refreshing to see such talented players using the traditional guitar in such a way. Dimebag said in an interview I saw around 15 years ago when he was asked what he thought about bands moving over to 7 string guitars (anything above that would have probably been considered impractical since there was no genre to support the need of such a thing back then)Dimebag said "They need to learn how to play 6 strings first off" The Fundamentals. These fellas have that in spades with some to spare.
I love how you combine jazz and metal together. Seriously the best instrumentals I've heard in a really long time. So melodic and the clean guitars really make your playing shine!
Each time I listen to this particular track, I'm completely submerged by so strong emotions. It ranges from sorrow or melancholy to pure, deep anger. It makes me wanna cry , I didn't know one track could touch me so deep inside. Melody beyond lyrics, universal language without boundaries.
This band is composed of true mesmerizing, talented wizards. Keep up the great work !
Thank you !
That bass toneeeeeeee
It's my favorite song from this album and I only see today their playlist with this video. I didn't expect the eight chords guitars! It's impressive to see them play like it was nothing.
Definitely gonna get a tattoo of the lyrics. Polyphia saved my life. Rawr xD
😂😂😂
Omf 😂
+JR Yazzie Oh lord. I love you, but you gave me cancer aids
+JR Yazzie i got a glock in my rawrie :3 XD
+XxXhardcoreshredderxXXxxxXXxxxxxXX oh my god dead 😂
FINALLY THEY GET THEIR MUSIC VIDEOS RIGHT
True, but Impassion will always have a warm place in my heart.
I can listen to this song over and over again! what I love the most about it, is that they're just sitting there jamming.
This is one of those songs you just can't get out of your head. The riffs are so catchy, and that bass.... I'm in love, I can't stop hitting repeat!
I like that they're getting into this like, groovy melody chill instru-metal music. I've liked Polyphia since Inspire, and this new album is just proving to me Polyphia is giving me everything I never knew I was missing.
Couldn't have said that last part better myself. Well put.
This song reminds me of my dad's old band!! Really sweet guys!! :)
my nigga
Your dad played some sexy tunes then. David, we'll see you at Euroblast?
love your music dude. haha. I'm noticing more and more artists popping up in Polyiphias comment section, Plini, Sythu Aye and so on.
youre a beast!
Haven't heard this song for years. But everytime I'm coming back to listen I'm still getting goosebumps. I miss this Polyphia
akhirnya band ini muncul juga. saya sudah sangat menunggu karya kalian dari beberapa tahun belakangan. maju terus polyphia. salam dari indonesia
They said they listen to a lot of hip hop albums for inspiration in this album, my bet is "the hills" by the weeknd was the song they listened to while writing this! Follows the structure perfectly. Loving it guys !
This is straight making-love music right here
@schindler91589 making love is making love.. gay or not..
@@destinylyons9240 That was the joke fool.
Non credo che ho sentito qualcosa di così bello negli ultimi anni, una fantasia infinita, e tecnica meravigliosa assieme, per questi attimi di puro piacere! Complimenti!!!
Love it. That bass at times remind me of that grungy cky string sound. Not equating, but I love that sound.
This is my favorite song by you guys to date,
Keep up the good work!
That chorus is just oh my god
The intro riff is iconic. It's so melodic and full of emotion.
I think this is my favorite polyphia song tbh. this shit bangs so hard
I wouldn't mind having nightmares like this in my sleep!
Who needs vocals when you can make your guitars sing...
well said
Steve Morse said "The one thing I learned from Kansas is that I never want lyrics in my music", and then went on to form the Dixie Dregs with Rod Morgenstein, Allen Sloan, Steve Davidowski, Andy West.
MV ได้ฟิวสุด. ติดตามมานาน
Polyphia 진짜 사랑합니다!! 완전 좋아요.잘듣고 있어요!! I Love it

I love listening to you guys whilst studying. Your music is awesome!
Update: I tried listening to this whilst studying but I couldn't.. I get overwhelmed by how amazing this is
I like listening to Polyphia before studying. It's so motivating. But while you study, I recommend avoiding listening to music, bro. Tonnes of research have pointed to it removing at least some understanding and memory of what you read/implement. But hey, if it works for you, fuck what it does to other people :)
I usually don't listen to music whilst studying, but recently, I have started listening to instrumental music/classical. It really helps, but I limit the amount I listen to. :)
+Iqra Hussain then you will familiar with Plini, Sithu Aye, Chon, Gru, Widex, The Helix Nebula.
I couldn't find a band called 'Widex', bro. Any help? If they're anything like these other bands, I've got to check them out (even if they're not, I might love it anyway huehue)
Damn Tim, for having small hands you still have some serious 8 string action. You too Scott. Clay, as a drummer I would love to jam following that fat sound. Your tones pierce everything including cymbal crashes. I love it. Keep it up texas boys. Represent.
Just saw you guy's play this yesterday. It was amazing! I was blown away by how amazing you sound live. Loved it.
Amazing as usual. Get more chills every time l listen to it
this is my favorite Polyphia's song !!!! AWESOME
Names song nightmare - song is actually so happy it makes you dream of it. Logic?
When I heard this song I interpreted it as a reoccurring dream of happy times that were lost. Time with someone you cherished but is now gone. Times when things were simpler maybe?
@@circuitfire886 Seems like a nightmare with the dancer having to repeat her routine even in great pain. I see it as a metaphor for life itself when things seem rough and you just have to keep persevering against all odds. Then it turns out it was a bad dream so maybe that's a representation of her fear of not being able to appease the person who appears to be some sort of God-like entity making her dance for his entertainment. Maybe Im digging too deep but that's my interpretation. The music also sounds hopeful and inspires one to keep going. Love this song and video :)
I'm obsessed with this song, and band for that matter.
Great stuff.
BY FAR my favorite new Polyphia release--this video is beautifully done. I like that it's classy and different. 🙌
Renaissance is shaping up to be pretty damn good, love the evolution in sound
2:01 John Wick appreciating the song in the darkness
They've got such a distinct sound. Like the intervals the lead guitar uses, it's like. If I hear it I know it's polyphia
I swear you guys write the most catchy riffs. Literally they get stuck in my head for days.
Song Structure For: Polyphia - Nightmare:
0:00 - 0:36 Clean lick + Drum beat (İntro)
0:36 - 1:10 Chorus Melody
1:10 - 1:46 Verse1 improv
1:46 - 2:21 Chorus Melody
2:21 - 2:54 Verse2 improv
2:54 - 3:28 Bridge improv
3:28 - 4:10 Chorus Melody (Outro)
Honestly, you guys just keep getting better and better with every release.
"Heaviness" isn't necessary on all albums. Between the Buried and Me has been my favorite band since Alaska and they keep getting less and less "heavy" with every release. I guess for me, it's about talent and creativity.
Anyway, I'll be buying the album on BandCamp after it's released. Thank you guys for all the great releases, I'll keep supporting your efforts as long as you keep releasing :)
Amo todas sus canciones, y todo ésto desde México.
Sigo con esperanzas de que un día vengan. ♥
Loving the new songs and videos you guys have been putting out! Definitely your best work to date - Can't wait for my album pre-order to arrive!
Baby-making-RnB-metal. It's pretty rad ❤️😎
I'm late to your party but this is just pure awesomeness!!! I got some catching up to do but thank you for bringing all of these genres together
I've had this stuck in my head since I first heard it......I can't unhear the melody now..... so catchy to not have lyrics....sometimes lyrics get in the way of what the music is trying to say.....great job guys
I love how instrumental the bass is to their sound
No pun intended
There's no way I could be this still while playing this lol It's so damn funky I'd have to be bouncing around.
That Kiesel bass sure does look awesome!
This and euphoria is my life. I fall asleep to these two songs every night. I listen to them at least three times each! I can't get enough. I love you guys!
metal bands can write some of the most amazing music, especially instrumentals like this!!this is also the first song from these guys that I've heard, and I can tell you right now I will purchasing their album and cranking it!
whoa lot new videos recently..
i think polyphia's new album become more "instrumental".. i don't know how to explain this, not too metal like before, i like previous album too..
but new album more ear-catchy (for me)
keep making awesome music guys!

2:52 O MY FUCKING GOD, BETWEEN THE TEARS AND THE RAGE

Haunting yet soothing. Tim running through the 8, I hear it. Also, I'm so happy that they are giving Clay more spotlight on the songs! Big ups Polyphia!
this one is my favourite so far, even before Euphoria
+Pacoroto Agreed. Their finest work yet
Just wait till you hear the other songs on the way. I know there's gonna be something much better
i can't unhear the hills mashup now...
Ik me too OMG it's hurting meeee... that's all I hear when I listen to this its Acary how similar they are, besides they do say they get their ideas from the radio. Like the song sweet tea I kinda here "I'm so fancy"
Where is that video?? Did they just remove it?

Favorite song. So beautiful
I recently have came across you guys. probably by far my favorite prog/djent band ever. such funky amazingness. you guys are beyond talented. shout out to polyphia! badass!
happy birthday sing
It's an instrumental song but it sounds like it has lyric I can sing to
These new songs are freaking killer in love with euphoria too.so much to bob your head to. Grooves licks and a heavy punch in places
Espetacular...Polyphia como sempre dispensa comentários....
so who is the keyboards and drum programmer? this song is pure musical arrangement bliss!
Its time to brush up the Aviator's dress and shout to the world who really is Polyphia.
Clay has some of my all time fav bass lines. What a genius
For the past week I wake up with this in my head and it drives me fucking crazy until I listen to it. Anyone else? No?...well ok.
play it at 1.25 speed. Totally different song
Get schwifty!
Dick Steel I'm right with you there dude.
My favorite song by you guys. The bass is killer.

Stellar work, guys! Your music is ushering me through a tough time right now. Just wanted to say thanks!
im really missing that heavy side of you guys, i mean, i like this new style, but, maybe i need more heavinesssssss
listen to inspire or resurrect then lol. it's not like it disappeared from the internet
They'll never play it again though. I think that's what he's getting at.
agreed
Nah, this is leaps and bounds better without all the 0s.
everyone has an opinion
bass sounds fucking amazing
great music and great harmony , and own character... good luck for Polyphia
This song is so beautiful. The video matches the mood. Perfection.
