In a new video essay spin off, Matt digs into the origins of THE game of Naval Warfare, Battleships, in an attempt to decide whether or not it is in fact a roleplaying game!
This was great! I never thought of Battleships that way, but it makes a lot of sense! Also your rule change is really good; it feels like it'd make the game a lot more fun.
You should check out the board game Captain Sonar. Two submarines, each crewed by 4 people, trying to blow each other up. It's amazing and sells the fun of battleship with a far more individual touch.
Hey, so this video has earned you a subscription. Really great work. Like a black and white Spice8rack. If you're in for some minor advice, here's a tip from a former sound engineer: beards and microphones don't mix, so if you're using a lapel mic, clip it upside down and angle it down towards the throat. Pick up will be better, and you'll avoid beard noises.
It seems you have missed my tiny destroyer, Mr Bond.

That’s an amazing rule change and it uses the same board and game pieces. Brilliant

We love Captain Sonar, it's just a challenge to find the full eight!
Well done team!

Great video but calling it BattleshipS instead of Battleship hurt my soul
