The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 and went on to be certified quadruple platinum by the RIAA. The songs were recorded during the All Eyez On Me and Makaveli sessions but remixed for this release.
In 'When Thugz Cry' Tupac presents the effects of violence and drugs on the youth in the ghetto. He also reveals parts of his own life story and the pain and loss that brought him to tears.

I love this track and I think the message in this song is that everybody cries, even thugs cry sometimes. So, it's okay to cry. I like the songwriting too.
I think it's deeper. Sometime in his life regretted been a gangster. He wanted to escape but it was to late for him. It was a choice he made when he was a child.And basically lost his freedom and his life.He didn't want kids to become gangsters but something better than that. His way to escape was music.
