I have a G4 iMac (the lampshade kind). When I turn it on it goes into a kind of UNIX command line, it never boots into Mac OS. What is that command line? And how do i boot to Mac OS from there?
I have a PowerBook G4 and cmd+s and it doesn’t work keeps going to the Horne screen after it loads I’ve done this countless times threw out the years and never had a problem with it but this frickin thing won’t budge do I need to Make a bootable copy of mac os?? Or is there another way plz some one in the matrix we call the world help HELP….!!
Mine had the same problem, but the message says: shutdown requires -h or -r. So, instead typing 'shutdown /h now', I changed to 'shutdown -h now' and it worked. See what message you got and alter as it says. Hope it helps.
I fixed this issue by typing "/sbin/mount -uw /" then typing "rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone". I realize this comment is old, so hopefully you fixed the issue 8 months ago lol

Note that this works, but be aware that it does not erase all the data off the machine, your old users will still be on the machine!
So what's the real way to factory reset then? I want to bring an old computer for recycling and want to delete everything from it...

This didn’t work for mine. It shows it’s done then when I restart it, it goes back to the same as it was.
