Just sharing some comments for you to consider:
Peranakan - Katong/ Joo Chiat area (Go to the Singapore Visitor Centre @Kim Choo Kueh Chang to pick up a pamphlet before exploring)
Chinese - Chinatown Buddha Tooth Relic temple (vegetarian food court hidden in the basement, air-conditioned)/ Teahouse (Tea Chapter - traditional style, SILK tea bar - modern)
Malay - Bugis/ Kampong Glam/ Haji Lane/ Geylang Serai
Indian - Little India/ Tekka Centre (hawker food with many old stalls)/ Mustafa Centre (24 hour shopping centre, very busy)
Colonial - City Hall and museums
If you ever miss a taste of home, there is a Swedish cafe called Fika along Beach Road (Bugis area) which has been open for more than a decade (not IKEA) 😊

The hawker at chinatown was actually at the 2nd floor in that building where you all started. Its the biggest hawer center in singapore

You guys have missed out the best part of the Super Tree, which is the light show there at night. And, the whole Marine Bay area is more beautiful at night.
