    You really make the best videos. I grew up in Metuchen, NJ and watched trains constantly - then I moved to Minnesota and have been here for the last dozen years. Your videos transport me and help me stay updated on what’s going on with NJT, LIRR, SEPTA, and others. And I absolutely love your commentary - thank you!

    I left work late yesterday so I was in Newark Penn toward the end of rush hour (normally I'd be there in the 5pm hour). I couldn't help noticing all the live announcements in the station vs. the usual complement of automated ones. It was nice to hear but I also made me wonder if there had been a sudden increase in people trying to ride Amtrak trains with NJ Transit tickets and vice versa since the guy kept mentioning it.

    I used to hangout in NWK in the late 70's into the early 80's on the weekends. I got to know the station master, ushers. I was able to get employee time tables for Amtrak, I made coffee in the station master's office. I was able to let the towers know when a train was on the move. I got pictures of G's, E-8's, CNJ's, Arrow 2's and 3's. I even took a picture of myself while along side of a freshly painted E-8 in the NJ DOT color. Those were the days!

    Nice video captures of trains in NJ. The Bay Head train you mentioned going to the Jersey Shore is the best for running time to Matawan. Why you may ask. Because it does not stop at N. Elizabeth, Elizabeth, Linden, Rahway, Avenel, and Woodbridge. As a result you get a sort of Express service to the Shore. In the old days the CNJ and PRR ran better schedules than NJT today to the Jersey Shore. Shore trans should not have to stop at the old Main line stops on the old PRR, they are served by the NJT Main line trains. NJT needs address this for people will not ride if not takes longer than an hour to get to Matawan. I can drive to South Orange station and take the train to NYC Penn and beat the Shore train by 10 minutes, say money and time. NJT GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER AND IMPROVE THE SHORE RUNNING SCHEDULES!!!!!!!

    • @Joesolo13

      I think stopping at Rahway for transfers makes some sense, you probably get some folks coming up or down from in between. but other than that sure.

    • @nickcef
      @nickcef Před rokem

      I'd love to see NJ Transit reactivate the old line that splits off just past Matawan and goes down to Freehold. It's part of the Henry Hudson trail system now. Also, reactivate the old line past Red Bank that used to go down and connect with the Atlantic City line.

      @@nickcef In 1953 I saw the last passenger train going from Matawan to Freehold from my 1st grade classroom in the Matawan Grammar School on Broad Street. It was crossing the Church Street crossing next to the Hanson VanWinkle Munning Co.. It was a Jersey Central Baby Trainsmaster pulling a combine coach.

    • @fantailspringdale
      @fantailspringdale Před rokem

      @@Joesolo13 I agree, perhaps one per hour, but not all Shore trains. We Shore passengers have suffered for too long with poor time schedules. Let the Main line trains pick up the passengers at the other Main line stations. Improved faster running time will improve ridership.

      @@fantailspringdale Just amazing! Wow! And just imagine 70 years later they're thinking about putting the line back into action! They should have never turned it into a rail trail. You can actually still see some of the old ROW with the old rails when riding a bike toward Freehold.
