I love that you told us the story of the elf trip with the no flakey mascara. I think a lot of ppl wouldn't tell that bc they don't wanna risk their relationship to the brands.
If the brand was smart they'd realize being honest about one tiny problem makes us trust Julia more. So as long as she promotes the majority of their products, it's too their advantage to let her be honest about small issues.

I don’t really see ELF as a dupeing brand because they make things less expensive, cruelty free, almost all their stuff is vegan? and I’ve NEVER got a rash or broken out from an ELF product, also, this is a big one for me personally, THEY DONT PUT FRAGRANCES IN MOST OF THEIR STUFF. Other brands could never…and won’t apparently🙃😂

Nyx very recently launched the glow shots in my country so I’m very excited to try them out ! Sadly they’ve only launched a few shades so far, hopefully they release more soon. Elf still hasn’t launched the halo glow here, but I really like the flawless filter for how sheer it is, so I hope the elf one is not too thick.

Lashes applied underneath like this are liiiiiiife. I’ve been wearing FlutterHabit lashes (like these but better imo) for almost 4 years. I wear mine for 5 days and then apply new ones. So much easier and cheaper than extensions! Highly recommend FlutterHabit. And they ship to Canada, too!

Can you try the kiss impress? The glue is already on them. How do those work with mascara on? I’ve never tried it with mascara first.
So I bought the maybelline perfector and I took the little spongy off the end of mine but now everytime I go to use it a bunch of oil and separated product comes out and idk why because I always shake it before twisting any product up. But very very oily now that it’s not coming thru the sponge. Not my favorite thing honestly
I picked up a couple Elf setting powders that were on sale. I always hear you mention it and I wanted to play. They might be discontinuing it.(stock up if that’s your jam everybody.) I want to try the Lash n Roll dupe. I have experienced flaking with the mascara I have from Elf. I have not tried a non-black mascara in a while, but I 💜 a more natural vibe. I do like when brands innovate & improve upon existing formulas. Thanks for sharing your professional wisdom.
I feel like, to some degree, e.l.f. has been duping stuff for a very long time. Back in the late 2000s or early 10s they had a blush-bronzer duo that was essentially their version of the NARS Orgasm and Laguna one that was around at the time. Nowadays, the duping they're doing could be a bit more intentional on their part. While it's great to have a more affordable variation of a high-end product, it'd be great to see some more original launches.
Your eyes looking like an ice queen. Also relove by revolution sound interesting, everything is under $5, idk if it's available in Canada but they have a full coverage matte aswell as a serum foundation and eyeshadow and stuff.

I have that dark green elf shadow. It’s good. Wasn’t as great using it as a liner as I was hoping. I have the danessa myricks twin flame in sweatheart and it is amazing as a liner

I feel like duping is a way for drugstore brands to charge more for some products because you'll be comparing them to higher-end products rather than other drugstore products. I absolutely think that drugstore customers should get good products, but you could at least have original packaging. For example, the elf whoa glow is a good enough product on its own, they didn't need to have the white and yellow packaging and market it as a dupe. They're going to lose a lot of goodwill the way Makeup Revolution lost a lot of goodwill, even though their products are good.
