Bonjour. Merci pour cette mise en ligne, avec une belle interprétation. Quelqu'un peut-il me dire d'où vient cette version musicale ' la première phrase correspond à une mélodie traditionelle, que je connais bien (mais donT j'ignore l'origine!); la suite diffère légèrement. Merci.

J’ai chanté ce qui est écrit au début de la version par Daniel Kantor, mais à l'origine cela vient du Gregorian Chant.

It's the Hail Mary. The first half is the greeting from the angel Gabriel, and Elizabeth's words when she realises Mary is carrying the Messiah. So from Ave to Jesus is straight from the Bible. The second half is as you say, we ask the Mother of Christ to pray to Him now, and in the hour of our death, so indeed a prayer for mercy.
