According to this and other videos, there is a penalty for dying which stacks. To get rid of it, you need to pay an in game currency which you can run out of easily as a casual player since that currency is also needed for various other activities. On top of the pvp zones and gvg, open world dungeons turn during specific in-game times into open pvp zones. So you either survive or avoid the dungeons until it is over.

the problem with ncsoft p2w... isnt if the game is p2w on release if not how much the game is p2w in 1,3.6.12 months, BnS got destroyed by the lootbox that included upgrade mats, 1-2 months after release.

Most mmos have a short lifespan where they are really popular. Selling power/convenience is the easiest way to cash grab. Believe it or not, developing good cosmetics takes a lot more effort. People really underestimate the creative process where most of the time is spent.
The important thing to understand is that in Korea players LOVE pay-to-win. Pay to win is a ligitimate way to play in Korea. The western hatred of pay-to-win confuses most Korean players.

It's actually so sad that this is what the awaited L2 successor turned out to be. 15 years (announced in 2009) wait for NCsoft to rework the game 5 times and still come out full P2W with lesser combat than L2 in my opinion. It's not even that NCsoft isn't liked in Korea, no one likes NCsoft anywhere on the planet because they take amazing games and turn them into FOMO P2W trash. I think I played almost every MMO that came out since 2001 and the genre as a whole is degrading instead of improving. This game's content is looking very good, but the problem is that the game feels lifeless, maybe it's because it's only in Korea atm but it doesn't feel like a full MMO experience. Anyway great video as always wizard.
It's interesting that they force you to play with people, it is a good thing, a lot of older MMOs had this approach where soloing stuff was only possible with peak gear and as a new player was impossible and this kind of thing was the most memorable, people were too used to solo play nowadays, especially those that didn't have IRL friends to play with but I doubt this would work that well globally, we'll have to see.

How the trailer looks nice and then in game, you can never find this kind of atmosphere, everything looks worse graphics-wise, the landscape is sooooo monotonous, and the absence of the holy trinity system and not having a dodge just killed the combat for me. Here is hoping for Chrono Odyssey

People who play Ncsoft game before, know that when the game have transformation system... That mean you gona need spend thousand every years from every event to have all of them. To be able unlock passive stats collection and better character gameplay... Basically a whale paradise!
I would say this is more like lineage4 than 3 since the previous almost lineage3 was Tera, but ok... I dont like the combat system, and have many little things that i HATE(some of them maybe are pin related), but overall the game is pretty cool maybe coz its been a while i didin't played a mmo that really felt as a mmorpg.

I like mmos that allow for you to play solo or as a duo and interact with other players when needed but the fact that the levelling experience is miserable if you are not in a party with 6 players shows that this game is not for me which is a shame because the graphics and animations are so nice...

It is just another asian mmo with cluttered UI, endless boring quests, multiple currencies, complicated crafting, boring grinding and p2w ofc. I dont think any asian mmo is worth wasting time. I guess most players are just driven by sentimental memories of playing good old mmos.
look at this boss mechanic at 9:20. UTTER BS!!! No dodge, safe spot, they all run out of the red circle and wait, so ez, so uneventful, so boring. These dungeon mechanics are too ez, and 90% of your game is kill this many mobs, etc. etc. etc.

yea you are no longer caped with gold but you are still capped with upgrade mats... that are not that easy to come by. also lets not even get into the skill books and upgrading those because that's the thing that give you the most DMG Healing CC etc... gear does not give you nearly as much power as upgrading your skills does.... You should also do a bit more research next time :) But not a bad video you did your best...

It is possible to convert. You can literally buy an epic gem, break it down to green tier and craft back up into epic growthstones. This process needs sollant. But guess what, 1 epic marind is 400k+ sollant for 150 lucent. You can do the conversion for armor and weapon also. Break down till blue will give - 2 growthstones instead of 1. Till green - 8 instead of 1. Till white - 20 instead of 1. Or you can just buy white gems and craft them up until purple. This is more lucent heavy though.

The good news is the new legislation in China might make them take out the p2w for future games.

I would say this is more like lineage4 than 3 since the previous almost lineage3 was Tera, but ok...
I dont like the combat system, and have many little things that i HATE(some of them maybe are pin related), but overall the game is pretty cool maybe coz its been a while i didin't played a mmo that really felt as a mmorpg.

10h ~ 16h daily play for bis doesn't sound really appealing.
I like mmos that allow for you to play solo or as a duo and interact with other players when needed but the fact that the levelling experience is miserable if you are not in a party with 6 players shows that this game is not for me which is a shame because the graphics and animations are so nice...
MassiveMultiplayerOnline and solo play are 2 different things, you are a bit confused
@egomuffin7119 you can play mmos and party up with other 3 players to do content. Here you need at least 5 people in a party to have a good leveling experience.

It is just another asian mmo with cluttered UI, endless boring quests, multiple currencies, complicated crafting, boring grinding and p2w ofc. I dont think any asian mmo is worth wasting time. I guess most players are just driven by sentimental memories of playing good old mmos.

look at this boss mechanic at 9:20. UTTER BS!!! No dodge, safe spot, they all run out of the red circle and wait, so ez, so uneventful, so boring. These dungeon mechanics are too ez, and 90% of your game is kill this many mobs, etc. etc. etc.
You need grouping for dailies? lmao pass, i understand this is an mmo but requiring people to do everyday activities is just too much.

Why are you assessing P2W elements on a KOREAN version? Makes no sense, because Koreans are known for LOVING and WANTING p2w. Global releases are going to be much less P2W.
That's why i will only play as a Free to play... level up... waste a bit of times and thats it... i will never be @$#% up in the @$$ like lost ark

i agree with almost everything. I played solo to lvl 50 and it was quite fast, not easy, but not hard either - ofc i played dps weapons
also if u buy things from auction house for sollent u have to spent ten thousands of dollars to make at least 10 mil solent :D

yea you are no longer caped with gold but you are still capped with upgrade mats... that are not that easy to come by. also lets not even get into the skill books and upgrading those because that's the thing that give you the most DMG Healing CC etc... gear does not give you nearly as much power as upgrading your skills does....
You should also do a bit more research next time :) But not a bad video you did your best...

1 you bought the growth stone for accessories not for gear,
2. you never showed that someone is able to buy growth stone for Gear or weapons.
3. you never showed the conversion rate of growth stones form Rare to Epic and if it's even possible to convert them.
All and all your coverage of P2W is very shabby and lacklustre, if you want to prove a point about the game being P2W than go and do it correctly now half-assed, But again if you are happy with the video that you produced and with the misinformation that you provided who am I to say otherwise....
It is possible to convert.
You can literally buy an epic gem, break it down to green tier and craft back up into epic growthstones. This process needs sollant.
But guess what, 1 epic marind is 400k+ sollant for 150 lucent.
You can do the conversion for armor and weapon also.
Break down till blue will give - 2 growthstones instead of 1.
Till green - 8 instead of 1.
Till white - 20 instead of 1.
Or you can just buy white gems and craft them up until purple. This is more lucent heavy though.
It's amazing that Korean MMOs afficionados always seem to downplay the severity of pay-to-win mechanics in every MMO they cover. It's like they're in cahoots with every Korean P2W MMO out there. They constantly try to brush off how bad it really is, making excuses left and right, but the truth is, they all suffer from the same predatory systems. And let's not kid ourselves, having a mansion, indulging in the finest cuisine, driving luxury cars, and accessing top-notch healthcare at a snap of your fingers is just convenience :) - it's a clear advantage. Sure, you can grind endlessly to attain these perks, but what's often overlooked is that these CZcamsrs typically compare the power and convenience gap between those who spend real money and those who don't, completely ignoring the fact that many paying players also put in the same amount of grind. It's high time they consider this aspect too. Glad we have our Wizard to debunk these "experts".
Quick recap -TL is dumbed down pre free to play Lineage 2 with better graphics and less P2W than modern Lineage 2. So not great not terrible.

Well, start T&L now and you can get BIS gear in 600 hours or pay like 300$ and have bis gear in 5 minutes. I would say it's same as Lost Ark.
