It's too bad flying only caters to the rich. It's definitely an adventure every person should get to enjoy. I was lucky in my childhood to fly with my Father and Grandfather in their Aeronca Champ and Stinson Reliant. Was the highlight of my childhood but it became to expensive for fuel, annual checks and storage..
My guess is with the money you spend on “other things”, you’d be able to save enough to fly. Many who really love to fly gave up spending money on drinking, eating out and many other things so they could afford their pilot license. As far as owning a plane goes, flying clubs make it very affordable. With a flying club, you own a share of the airplane (I bought my share for $6500) and have great access to fly most of the time you’d like to. Your opening line is the lie most people accept without question when they want and excuse not to try. It’s all a matter of what’s really important to you.

I'm living proof flying can be done by regular guys and their kids. Choices must be made, much work done, but it is possible without being a millionaire.

400,000 is a joke.
why..? an extra 330SC is about 400,000-420,000 and this is in direct competition with that. This thing is faster at 200
+ knots vs 170 and both have Lycoming 580s with 300+hp. The extra 330scs is the standard in the industry. do you not realize how much R&D that goes into making a carbon aerobatic plane or just any aerobatic aircraft?
welcome to aviation ME - low volume, high costs, high regulation plus margin. We wouldn't want a designer and manufacturer to be producing cheap and nasty.
Why do you say it is a joke? This is a brilliant aircraft and worth every penny.
No, it's really not. You just dont understand the economics of this level of aviation, evidently.
It's is cheaper than an extra edge or MX.
