2024 Outback Day 20 - Currawinya to Lightning Ridge

After a lovely morning with the emus at Corni Paroo Waterhole, we headed off on a pretty big drive day. First through the Queensland border town of Hungerford, through the Dingo fence once again, then down Hungerford road in NSW, past Fords Bridge, and across the Darling River just north of Burke.
After a quick lunch stop in Brewarrina at Muddy Waters Cafe (we previously saw the fish traps, but not this time), we headed to Lightning Ridge via the Grawin Opal Fields rather than along the highway.
I particularly loved the Sheepyard Inn. Very quirky.
It was then a quick drive east from to get to the Opal Big 4 caravan park just north of Lightning Ridge. We spoilt ourselves with ensuite camp site and it is situated opposite the free artesian thermal pools.
