Their lyrics are so clever
"I want to hold and nurture every second of this life that has been given to me. Even the limits in me." Awesome lyrics.
Correction to the last part "I want to hold and nurture every second of this life that has been given to me, even though limitedly"
This song is a stroke of genius
(Hip-hip hooray for the elephants on parade)
(Hip hip hooray for the elephants on parade)
Take the gist of it and twist it
'Til it makes you smile
And don't be scared if there's a snare
Sometimes it takes a while
There's much to learn from every turn inside a labyrinth
Don't you try to think about it
No way to talk about it
And I will ever change and never cease to be amazed
It bubbles up and overflows and then it goes away
I want to hold and nurture every second of this life
That has been given to me
Even the limits in me
Jackrabbit, snake pit runnin' oh
My my, been a long time comin' home
Jackrabbit dying deep down in his soul
Dang-nab-it, you hate me, but hey now
Hip-hip hooray with your baritones on your hip
Hip hooray for the elephants on parade
You're preaching to the chorus
Line alright for this whole time
And I'm fine if I can
Tell a lie about the minor crimes
I won't try to justify the reason why
I think that I'll never die is so preposterous
It's like a bag of circus peanuts in a sewage drain
Or airin' out your dirty laundry on a weather vane
Hip-hip hooray for the elephants on parade
They're gonna trample themselves
They're gonna trample themselves
Jackrabbit, snake pit runnin' oh
My my, been a long time comin' home
Jackrabbit dying deep down in his soul
Dang-nab-it, you hate me, but hey now
Hip-hip hooray with your baritones on your hip
Hip hooray for the elephants on parade
I got the feeling that I wanna be alone with you
And I got the feeling that you
Might want to be alone with me too
Take a finger and snap, just like that
And I had to say hey baby let's go
And make it home for our show
Simple defragmentation gets us to the point of that
But no relaxing 'til they give us all our memory back
Touché [?]
Take it all out of order anyway
They can always make you pay up
And I will ever change and never cease to be amazed
It bubbles up and overflows and then it goes away
I want to hold and nurture every second of this life
That has been given to me
Even the limits in me
Like a bag of circus peanuts in a sewage drain
Or airin' out your dirty laundry on a weather vane
Hip-hip hooray for the elephants on parade
Hip hooray for the elephants on parade
Take the gist of it and twist it 'til it makes you smile
And don't be scared if there's a snare
Sometimes it takes a while
There's much to learn from every turn inside a labyrinth
Don't you try to think about it
Ain't no way to talk about it
And I will ever change and never cease to be amazed
It bubbles up and overflows and then it goes away
I want to hold and nurture every second of this life
That has been given to me, even the limits in me
Jackrabbits, snake pit runnin' oh
My my been a long time coming
Jackrabbits, snake pit running
Hip-hip Hooray for the elephants on parade
Hello
Touché but they had the wherewithal to
Relient K, Thank you for airing your laundry out on the weathervane! I think I get what that means and it brings so much healing to us who care so much but are afraid to speak up to others about what's going on in our lives: It's a constant emotional battle between rejoicing that you are finding your way, being so real and raw but also getting push back from groups of people who ceaselessly challenge your integrity and you're like, "bring it on/it still hurts when you judge me/ but I know I'm doing the right thing...I mean, I'm trying my very best and giving my ALL (what more could I do?)" This song means so much to me because the trumpets scared me at first (haha) but then I was so comforted by the story/struggle I share with the lyrics. So wonderful! Such an incredibly bold song. The lyrics, in their subtlety almost tease the fact that they feel like they HAVE TO BE subtle, I think. I can relate to this song by feeling condemned by people (including myself) for not going along with every detail of a set of beliefs when I also feel like I'm doing something more important and I get the bigger picture. Am I right? Someone tell me if you can relate!
i love you're insight! i personally believe Jesus is the way for everyone but God made every soul wonderfully different and each person has to find their own path to Him. i think it's critical to know who you really are and be yourself all the time because God made you and He likes you the way He made you. if someone is judging or condemning you they are not a follower of Jesus and as such i wouldn't pay much attention to them. Also, many of those ''details of a set of beliefs'' are merely traditions of men that are not from God. i strongly recommend getting you're info directly from God's word yourself, most especially the gospels. Hang in there, i'll be hoping for you. Don't you just love all the layers to RK songs?
This album will be the death of me. I absolutely love how I feel after listening to each song
My favorite track from this amazing album.
I can't believe I randomly found this comment from you xD I was just trying to find a part of the lyrics! This is tied for second for me ;)
Emwithpeanuts I'm everywhere! ;)

This is a great song. I like the deeper meaning and all but - man I love elephants
Is this song about the “Pink Elephants on Parade” sequence from Dumbo movie?
or does anyone know the meaning?
I think it is more about appreciating life and realizing the challenges of it all, but seeing the blessings in it. It’s about how God rescues us all. Life may be as crazy as an elephant parade, but God is always there to bring us through and make us stronger.
(But my mind also definetly visualized the dumbo dream!)
There's something very Sargent Pepper about this track in particular.
and then 2:19 came around and I woulda swore the song had changed
it was closer to 2:09 when it changed
Oh geez this is like night compared to day from the last track. Wow. Wasn't ready for that drastic a change of music tone O_o
But have you listened to other full RK albums haha

Go-to karaoke song
well you know what they say... Relient K is for Karaoke.
Hello, I want to use this. Song for tik tok. Not for me but for others to use. I will list you name, and the title of the song. May I please have your permission to use it. Thank you for reading
Well to be honest, about every song on tik tok was used without permission. Its just nobody cares if you take their song
Anyone have a piano tutorial of this?
Given the name/chorus of the track, the timing of when the band first posted about it, and the lyrics, I have a tin foil hat theory that this song is about the 2016 Republican primary.
The verses sound like politics in general for sure, especially with the twisting gists, snares, labyrinths, and that double speak about never dying. Scandals bubble up and go away all the time as people lose interest so quickly, and telling lies about crimes needs no explanation when it comes to politicians. Holding and nurturing life sounds positive, but it can also be viewed as people painting opportunism in a pretty light.
Most blatant of all, the elephant is the symbol of the GOP. The vast majority of born again Christians are Republicans. This is Relient K's main audience (and possibly their own current or previous political affiliation). The jack rabbit in the chorus is the average American dealing with the den of political snakes and how it's killing the soul of our country. "Been a long time coming home" is a reference to the consequential saying of "Chickens coming home to roost." It's "been a long time" because politicians are never held accountable for their actions and we're still waiting for them to face consequences. The nominee (Trump) was certainly hated by many in the party, but they went along with him because they had no other viable options in our political system ("you hate me, but hey now). Republicans that once opposed him started singing his praises ("hip hooray") pretty quickly after his nomination. The baritones (a common male voice range on television) on your hip sounds like it refers to weaponized talking points. Airing dirty laundry on a weather vane (which normally has a bird symbol) is Twitter, and circus peanuts in a sewage drain relates to the media circus surrounding politics (both left and right networks, imo). And, of course, the 16 candidates from the GOP primary certainly trampled over each other during the race.
The last part of the song demonstrates how politics affected American attention during that time (continuing until now, really). The couple puts off spending time with each other to instead watch television, possibly to dive into politics via cable news or to escape the stress and division that has overtaken daily life in our current era (they may not be able to have conversations any more because they are on different sides of the aisle).
Anyway, that's my crackpot theory that I've been holding onto for the last six years. Please don't yell at me or argue if you disagree. I may very well be wrong, it's just an interesting interpretation.
First
Republicans on parade?
It makes sense
Hot damn, I love the song even more now lmao
