@OOCFM OP means ventilators. Ventilators were killing people.
And for you, OP: the ventilators causing far greater harm than any help they might've done wasn't some unknowable shock discovery. It was clear that the "official" treatment guidelines were abysmally wrong from quite early on - I created a twitter account for the first time in April 2020 to keep abreast of the people who'd first voiced concerns over the ventilator thing. This was readily apparent to anyone who was paying attention & switched on within the first month or two.
It was not understandable that people didn't figure this out until 2+ years into the 'pandemic'.
There are no excuses. At the highest levels, it's not even plausible that nobody knew any better.

Here in Illinois, J.B. basically did whatever his "public health officials" told him. There was no pushback from him at all. The courts eventually had to step in and strike down his mandates (they actually called him "evil" in the process).
The whole "We didn't force anyone to do anything!" is such a lame, false excuse. Plenty of governors (most of them blue Governors) essentially took whatever the CDC said as law. These people, in turn, defend themselves by saying, "Don't blame us; we were just following orders" (a.k.a., the Nuremburg Defense). So you have the public health "officials" saying (falsely) that they didn't force anyone to do anything (despite knowing that their "recommendations" would effectively be taken to have the force of law), and you have the (mostly) Dem politicians who enacted the draconian lockdowns and mandates saying, "Don't blame us, we were just doing what we were told to do." So, where's the responsibility? Where's the accountability? Who was actually responsible for doing anything?
This is why we need a thorough house-cleaning. They're all corrupt; they were all responsible; they should all be held accountable. They should all be kicked out of their current offices and never allowed to be in a decision-making position in those fields again.

Yes, it's true that there was a "cohort" on the other side who were also pushing inaccurate advice, but those people were fundamentally responding to the ones who were enacting and enforcing the mandates to begin with. It was the "public health officials" who made the first missteps in misleading and not trusting "the public" (and then responding by trying yell at them, shame them, order them around, etc.), so for there to be any kind of reconciliation and resolution to this mess, these are the people who are going to have to apologize first.

We also don’t just rely on our doctors for their medical advice

I fail to see how voting for bureaucrats is going to make those bureaucrats have less power, if anything is true the exact opposite case is going to be true.

At least our lives are meaningless to these people. Great. Bodes well for the future.
Perhaps they could have informed us of facts and then asked us what we wanted to do.

This conversation omits the role of the "back channels". Everyone that has worked in a govt role is aware of the power of info that the deciding officials get from other sources. If your campaign funders highly advise that you take a certain path it becomes increasingly hard to avoid. This is the corruption that we live with every day.
